I know absolutely nothing about car audio or audio in general... BUT I love these videos simply because these builds are obviously very well done and I can appreciate watching anyone who knows what they're doing build beautiful pieces or work.
hey steve...i replied lastnight, thanks for the offer man.just bought my first 15"s,planning my box too, getting all getty like a school for the new jams and a psyph test,THANK YOU!!
Love that "Built with pride in the U.S.A." You don't need me to tell you but you're doing an amazing job with your builds....keep it up bro. Sending a shout-out from Houston, Texas.
Steve, you have inspired me to try and build a bad ass system in my 2012 Scoin tC, and to have some trunk space! I love your videos, I stay up all day n' night watching them trying to learn! Love ya man, keep up the sick work!! SMD for life!!
that port is proper i dont know who's video you are watching or who you are trying to school.....but you got the wrong guy. There is no flare its rounded over and that is PLENTY good. It would be plenty good if i didnt round them off.
Respect. I respect the fact that Mr Meade here has the history and the knowledge to know that the little bit of structure removal he's done will have very little to nil effect on his car... however to affirm the beliefs of the uncertain few out there who cringed at the sight of the tin being removed from the "track day car if you wanted it to be" - this can be said: the rigidity of the chassis from the OE Manufacturer is set towards a goal of passenger safety. This doesn't = bass. shucks *_*
I have the t3 6 1/2 components in my 2012. Ram and wow they sound clean.I have had morels and german maestros and they keep up with the best so I can imagine how ur lexus will sound
hahaha when i seen u get into it w/ the tin snips i said "damn, i bet he gives up on that quick" Gonna be honest, took a little longer than i expected to see somethin go in the lex. Keep it up steve, you know i'll be watchin
I figured they'd take a beating knowing the SMD quality reputation, but that's very impressive. I'd love to hear something like this in person if you ever come out east sometime!
Man, what i'd do just to have the scrap speakers in your shop loll. I love your work that you do, i've been following you for awhile now and the work you do is just fanominal!
to anyone else reading this: I only have 1 cd here to give to this man......BUT, stay subscribed, i always give stuff away and you never know what or when! Also, Psyphs new shit is dropping soon and it does nothing but THROB from the first song to the last. /psyph1
the steel above and below the hole are extremely strong and wont be touched. The flimsy sheet metal i cut shouldn't make much of a difference. I will let you know if i roll the car how it did although i believe that piece of metal would be the last of my worries.. LOL
oh you didint know steve ?? extreme bass has been linked to causing n2o bottles to burst and spray ...cmon steve you slacking how do you not know the power of your badass works of art :) keep it up man always puttin out the best
I've been waiting for the day when some beat was installed in the Lexus. Nice steve, you really know how to make us all jealous! Awesome stuff bro can't wait to see it in the trunk, might have to play some Yelawolf 'Pop The Trunk' when its done ;).
With all the exposure to bass, I just assumed the sound of sheet metal being cut wouldn't affect you :) I wish I would have though of hearing protection back in the day when everyone wanted a 4 pack cut in their rear deck :P
Steve I haven't seen ya mention anything about additional batteries or upgrading the alternator. Gonna be runnin a bunch of power in there so just curious. Definitely tuned into this build! LIKED!
I love the CD excursion at 3:20 it's complete madness I would love to hear that much bass, but I'm stuck with 8 inch kevlar subwoofers, which still punch a lot considering I'm only giving them 125 watts RMS when they're rated at 250 each. :)
Steve, looks like a great start! Will you be firing the subwoofer through the rear seat or will you remove it entirely? I have a Toyota Chaser and like your vehicle the seats don't fold down. I did a few experiments and when I put the rear seats back on I lost 7dBs (not like it matters when you have a huge 15", but still, it's a significant loss).
Sorry man i disagree with your last sentence. Your install will determine how much SQ you have not the brand and Kicker will do just fine in the right hands just like any other sub will. Thanks though man!
Wow Steve ... i'm wondering, that port going in angle inside of the box, ends very close to the bottom wall of the box (about an inch?) .. Wouldn't that proximity affect tuning fr. of a port ? Or I'm thinking totally wrong (?) looking forward for more videos and build pics, I love you work, greetings from Croatia ! That Lexus is so ''tasty''
if its not nominal bridgeable then you need a symmetric audio signal. you connect the noninverted signal to the left channel and the inverted to the right and you simply connect the speaker on both positive terminals of the channels
I'm glad you mentioned turbulence. Is there any way to reduce turbulence without changing the port itself? I've seen that B&W uses dimples to reduce turbulence, hence reducing port noise. I was wondering what your thoughts were.
nice looks like its going to sound good and knock lows like a champ and big thumbs up for having the balls to cut the metal out of an expensive and very nice car all for better audio:)
God damn, so many dont know's leaving comments on here. Ya'll should do some research before acting like you think you're a genius. Looking good steve.
Damn Steve didn't know you had your Lexus hooked up with a system. Watching the videos now and it looks pretty damn nice. You gonna be doing some demos once you get it all done right? Can't wait to see what the Lexus has got bass wise.
It's actually 100ft. Its not about loudness, its the intensity (vibration) of the wave that hurts our ear. Loudness cannot be assigned a specific number, but intensity (frequency, pitch and tone) can. Intensity is measured in decibels. The human ear is more sensitive to high sounds, so they may seem louder than a low noise of the same intensity. Just a word of knowledge. Btw 140db is weak, kind of like your argument. Good day sir tacokid.
yo meade, idk if you've thought about it before, but why don't u make SMD speakers, not just the subs. like some 6 1/2's and tweets. u could pull in some easy money. i know id buy them the moment they hit the shelf. would be good knowing id get a good quality product
damn steve i can't wait to see this build!!! I got the same type of thing where there is that v-frame that helps the cars handling for ridgitiy. It sucks for sounds lol but would cutting it affect the handling of it? either way bro can't wait to see the finished product.
Dr. Steve says deep bass (below 50hz) @ 150db won't even do a fraction of the damage to your ears as something @ 1000hz @ 135.
i didn't even work on the car yesterday.....had to work on other things. My shop is a BUSY place :) I will have an update soon though. Thanks! :)
I know absolutely nothing about car audio or audio in general... BUT I love these videos simply because these builds are obviously very well done and I can appreciate watching anyone who knows what they're doing build beautiful pieces or work.
Dude I've been dreaming about the day you put system in that beast. My dream has finally come true
hey steve...i replied lastnight, thanks for the offer man.just bought my first 15"s,planning my box too, getting all getty like a school for the new jams and a psyph test,THANK YOU!!

Finally! The Lexus build!!! Promise not to leave us for days like during your Tahoe build Steve!

Looks like fun!! I like the box and it is going to sound ten times better when you get it set up. Post whenever you can!!

that port is proper i dont know who's video you are watching or who you are trying to school.....but you got the wrong guy. There is no flare its rounded over and that is PLENTY good. It would be plenty good if i didnt round them off.

whats it feel like to cut up a 60,000 doller car? love it brother keep up the good work!
Damn your ISF looks super nice
mdf, birch.......its all the same outcome. Especially after i glass the inside.
I'm glad you mentioned turbulence. Is there any way to reduce turbulence without changing the port itself? I've seen that B&W uses dimples to reduce turbulence, hence reducing port noise. I was wondering what your thoughts were.
Are you going to test with term lab to.see what you can do once its all said and done? Awesome Kobe on everything you do Steve! Much respect! !

NICE BUILD BRO THT SHOULD GET LOUD AND LOW IN THAT LEXUS FORSURE
that port is beautiful
didn't cut the frame
Woot! Nice stuff Steve!
will it be a crime to ask for the detailed build specs and cut sheet for this box? just love it
I want know too, I have CT Sounds Meso 12, I'd like to have in a similar box
Damn Steve didn't know you had your Lexus hooked up with a system. Watching the videos now and it looks pretty damn nice. You gonna be doing some demos once you get it all done right? Can't wait to see what the Lexus has got bass wise.

not an SMD 15 ;))) I agree though 6" is usually enough.
this is for my bass only steve & I love my low bass....
damn hacked some sheet metal that is commitment and I saw the build picks looks like the ISF is getting another bottle
I like how you wear earmuffs to saw when you drive the Tahoe around like it's no big deal haha.
Ay you do some amazing boxes and everything bro keep it up
Cool thanks man big respect from the uk dude.
why wouldn't it?
yo meade, idk if you've thought about it before, but why don't u make SMD speakers, not just the subs. like some 6 1/2's and tweets. u could pull in some easy money. i know id buy them the moment they hit the shelf. would be good knowing id get a good quality product
hope you do a video of this. Im waiting on reviews to determine in i want the.3 or the older .2
Hey Steve what did you tune the box to? and on the next build video can you give us a walk through on how to install a sub to your car?
damn steve i can't wait to see this build!!! I got the same type of thing where there is that v-frame that helps the cars handling for ridgitiy. It sucks for sounds lol but would cutting it affect the handling of it? either way bro can't wait to see the finished product.
Damn Steve, sick as usual. Hey, what was that REALLY REALLY low note where the sub was moving crazy air? Do you know how low it was? I'd assume 20hz?
its fiberglass.
Is every thing calculated or just based on the room you got for the subwoofer like the bas poort you made ? Looks Nice btw
Damn, that box was hittin' the lows real nice. what kind of box would you recommend for a sundown audio sa-8
.
Its funny at the end your wearing ear miffed for the sound of the saw but you have no problem with your 140+DB system. How loud is your saw?
