The Dacia when new in 2022 cost £14,500 for the base white + £595 for the paint option. In 2 years it has only lost £2000. I don't know how much the Scala with a 1.5tsi engine was in the back end of 2022, but as its the next size category up equal to the Golf and currently starts at £21,300 I expect it was about £20,000. That's quite a high depreciation on the Skoda. Yes the Skoda is a better car in this situation, but you would be gutted if you had paid all that from new.
No depreciation to worry about if you lease...... And I doubt you'd get £12500 trade in for a 2 year old Dacia.... More like £9k, which the dealer would then mark up to £10.5k
Bought a second hand 2020 Skoda Skala automatic 15 months ago, it has keyless ignition, and unlocks without using the key if you hold the door handle. It's been a great car for it's first year, the Skoda service pqckage is also good.

I guess there's no more arbitrary measurement than "my driving position". That's just stupid. Put the front seat all the way back and then we can see how much space is there for the rear seat passengers.
keyless ignition is really bad...i dont know why people are so excited about it......clearly they never stayed aout of the car because the battery was over......
you have the physical key and locks as backup to get into the car (they are just hidden for esthetic reasons ) , as for ignition there is a method of starting with low power keyfob by getting it close to the button .. not sure if it just maximizes your chances by being in proximity of one of the antennas with low signal strength coming out of the keyfob or if it can use induction to power the circuitry of a dead keyfob so it sends a signal. Anyway the system is kinda made for keyless ignition so when you get the base spec its funny because it in some ways emulates the button function unlike the old simpler ignition.

If you choose fabia for 14k you get almost the same standard gear as in octavia which costs 33k and even if you buy the whole gear in fabia or scala you will still save a lot more money because you wont get near 33k. Sure octavia is wider and larger but that does not mean yoz need to pay extra price 15k just because it is a wagon. There should be limited gears for each models as standard option octavia should get a lot more gear for that money. @@theodorgrigoras6001 This is not a review of brand new cars. It's a second hand / used review. To say the Dacia holds it's value better is irrelevant. No cars purchased brand new hold their value. They all depreciate. In fact buying a new car is often a very poor financial choice.

We’ve had our Dacia since the first lot sold in the UK in 2013 and there not bad cars, gets you from A to B and has hand stuff like the built in satnav, reversing sensors, cruise control… however there also not great cars either 😂 we had that leaking problem a lot of them had with water gathering in passenger footwell.. but you also can’t even have the windows open a crack while it’s raining because the angles of the window/frame/door makes it so it completely soaks the inside of the door from the drips 😂
I think you have to put it into perspective. Depending on what you drive. If you have a 40k car such as a Superb or an Audi, then a 12k Dacia will feel low rent and basic. But, if you've just come from a 3k 10 year old car, the Dacia won't feel so bad.

Aww... Baldy-Beardy (Tim) is rather cute, isn't he?
I guess there's no more arbitrary measurement than "my driving position". That's just stupid. Put the front seat all the way back and then we can see how much space is there for the rear seat passengers.
Sandero looks better, in and out 👍👍
keyless ignition is really bad...i dont know why people are so excited about it......clearly they never stayed aout of the car because the battery was over......
you have the physical key and locks as backup to get into the car (they are just hidden for esthetic reasons ) , as for ignition there is a method of starting with low power keyfob by getting it close to the button .. not sure if it just maximizes your chances by being in proximity of one of the antennas with low signal strength coming out of the keyfob or if it can use induction to power the circuitry of a dead keyfob so it sends a signal. Anyway the system is kinda made for keyless ignition so when you get the base spec its funny because it in some ways emulates the button function unlike the old simpler ignition.
They'd make a lovely couple 😬
People will choose crossover. Why? Because it looks bigger...
I'd go for the 'normal' Sandero over the Stepway.
Waarom? Voor de prijs? Voor het verbruik? De stepway ziet er toch beter en stoerder uit vind ik.😉
@@Vdmv5757 Because the 'normal' Sandero is a genuine, honest car. The Stepway is a fake. All looks and no talent. If you need a 4x4 look-a-like, then just buy a real 4x4 in the first place.
thats not slow, My Stepway Automatic is even slower.
However, I am too lazy to shift gears
This is Škoda not Skoda
By the way, hello Rebecca
Shhhhhkoda. I'll say hi to her when I see her next. -Tim
Not on the uk badge it aint
You should use phrase "Good news everyone"
SCALA ALL DAY LONG
It's way more solidly built than the Dacia, and 100k miles on, it'll be in far better shape....and be more desirable. The Dacia will be full of rattles and shakes at that mileage.....
Well that's about the long and short of it.
Is that a height joke? If so, I'm here for it -Tim
Come on it was funny. 6 ft 3 v 5ft 4, not forgetting the half !!
You forgot to mention the skoda scalas 5 star ncap saftey rating the dacia has 2 staris so unsafe
But you still have badge snobbery though
The only thing i do not like in my skoda octavia 2024 is the unfairness price between my new octavia and scala or fabia. Not just gear lot more hp at least 50 plus more hp, and there should be more awd in octavia, mostly of them are still fwd... and ncap results in fabia are better than in octavia which is shame...Dont get me wrong i am verry happy with it it definetly feels luxorious driving it, but the price is too high for less equipment in it.
When new these cars are 10 k apart. The cheapest 1.5 tsi is just under 25000. Dacia 15000. Used cars market have simply too many variables. For the same money Scala wins for 10000 more I will call you later.
Škoda all the way...
Dacia holds value better from new to second-hand
Which means nothing. This is a used car review, what you can buy second hand. So the manufacturer new price is irrelevant. For the new price of a Sandero, you could buy a Mercedes V12 CL600 if you're brave enough. Not recommended, but possible.
The Skoda is somewhere between 60 and 80% more expensive than the Dacia so why even compare them?
Not on the used / second hand market it isn't. That's why this video was made. They are not comparing new cars at factory fresh prices.
@@TakeResponsibilty than in terms of depreciation, the Sandero wins, it holds value better
@@theodorgrigoras6001 This is not a review of brand new cars. It's a second hand / used review. To say the Dacia holds it's value better is irrelevant. No cars purchased brand new hold their value. They all depreciate. In fact buying a new car is often a very poor financial choice.
Why was Mrs Jackson wearing here PJ's.
Dacia
Škoda read Schkoda
It has everything.... Apple carplay... 🖕
Dacia for me. I don't trust no TSI oil eating engine from vw. Never again.
Why a car should have isofix in the fron when the law state’s children under 12 should be in the back
The UK law does not state that at all. All children up to 135cm tall (around 4'5"), or the age of 12, whichever comes first, seated in the front or rear of cars, vans and other goods vehicles must travel in the correct child restraint for their weight. Age is NOT the determiner. It's height and weight. Either in the front or back.
Ban-na-na-na 😀
The rival of dacia sandero is skoda fabia ! So...Bye Bye !!
Not on price in the used car market when they are a few years old. That's the whole point of the video. These are not new cars compared on size. Just on price as a used buy.
200 pounds a month?
Keep Your Eyes On The Road.🤬
fatuous review......more like a Childrens TV program from the 80's
Apologies for bringing some fun to the world with the free content Shaun! There are plenty of miserable car reviews out there if you'd prefer. -Tim
I like Dacia, but you can't compare it to Skoda.... Simply not possible!
It is if you're prepared to look at a used Skoda rather than a new Dacia....... But as someone who has owned 5 Skodas, I wouldn't be in a hurry to look at the Dacia....
Skoda Scala new 1.5 150 HP DSG price over 27 000 euro, Sandero Stepway Expression 16 000 euro
Yes, but this is a second-hand review! Which makes the Skoda look a bit of a bargin I think -Tim
@@motorpoint I don’t really understand the point of that. Who will buy an used Sandero for 12k + when you can buy it brand new for 16k. For extra 4K you get the newer model and 3 years + 2 extended warranty. On the other hand Skoda Scala for that price you mentioned has about 150 000 km and 6 years old. If we are talking used cars than you have multiple options at the same price.
@@69svejk I have no idea what you are talking about. They are comparing similar PRICE cars on the used / second hand car market. They are not new cars. I don't know where, or why you think a Skoda Skala with 150,000km at 6 years old would be the same PRICE as a NEW Dacia Sandero. Crazy
@@TakeResponsibilty if you use capital letters doesn’t make it more intelligent. WHERE ON EARTH YOU GOT THE IMPRESSION I HAVENT NOTICED THE COMPARISON WASNT BETWEEN USED CARS???? I clearly stated I don’t understand the point of comparing an used Dacia when for only extra 4k you can get the newer model all brand new? Who on earth will save the 4k to buy this car in the video ???
@@69svejk Because as you stated in your reply above (verbatim) "A Skoda Scala for that price you mentioned has about 150000 km and 6 years old". That is nonsense.
Dacia wins by a mile
Skoda is in a different league
More scratchy plastic review rubbish
Dacia rust buckets from new, All my Skodas have gone upwards of 200,000 mls before px.
Dacia has a soul. VW fridge on the junkyard.
😂🤣😂
Keep dreaming
The reason the Skoda looks like a rental is because it was😂
See, I thought that… but what rental company is picking the expensive 1.5 engine?! -Tim
@@motorpoint look at the V5 and it will tell you.
@@motorpoint Less stress on engine components than the 1.0, thus increasing reliability, plus it may have just been what was available in SKODA inventory at the time of purchase.
Additionally a rental is more likely to be carrying multiple occupants and their baggage, so the larger engine is better suited for that task.
Didnt stop me driving my 1.2 fabia 5-up to wales and back though.
Dacia is more nicer and more reliable..
Nobody will never be able to tell me a dacia is a good car, it's a crap cheap car all be it maybe not as crap as they used to be but still uninspiring crap interior
@@milliebooth9848 I would agree entirely. Dacia's use older platforms and technology from Renault. No bad thing really. Not at the forefront of automotive development, but tried and tested. Most mechanics will know and understand the faults, or the manufacturer has sorted it out during the service schedule. As for rain water getting in through front windows even if at a slight drizzle - your Dacia has a lot in common with my VW Golf 8.
The Sandero is funny. It's a hairdryer. And all plastic crap. A car from Temu. But made with Renault, which is disgusting
Like the crap 2cv and renault 4/5/6 still going in Europe and countries today. French cars are still going strong flimsy but robust and don’t rot like German crap
You know little about cars
