Fantastic work on the engine oil filter housing replacement for the Dodge Durango! I'm dealing with the same engine issue on my Durango, and I really appreciate your detailed guide. I'm also suspecting a valve cover leak, which I'm planning to tackle myself. Your videos are not only informative but also empowering for DIY enthusiasts like me. I have also replaced my throttle body with a 78mm BBK-1841 performance throttle body and air intake with an AFE-51-76207 intake. It sounds nasty!! I stopped buying upgrade parts to it after I learned that the exhaust manifold is part of the engine so no headers. Please continue to share your knowledge through these videos. They are greatly appreciated!

did you have to drain the coolant? and will oil spill if its not drained first?
Yes go ahead and drain and put fresh new coolant in do an oil change and change the filter. Thanks for asking not sure if I showed that.

I did this myself and the car is running too lean in cylinder 1&2. Engine is lurching so it feels like fuel is dumping in and causing it to accelerate when not asked. Any feedback?
I start by putting it on a scan tool to see what code it’s kicking then go from there it sounds like a fuel injector issue

What sockets did you use I hear 10 and 8mm any other ones needed?

How did you get back bolt off?
I used a medium extension and a 10mm socket its pretty easy to get to
Could this be causing a leak by the rear main seal
This could have you think it’s the rear main seal check up top by the oil filter with a light and see if you have a puddle of oil down in there. As you drive the oil goes the the back and drip down the back side of the engine

Jobs like this is why I only work on dodge but will never buy one, it's just a dumb design. Good video but you should've bought the part with the aluminum housing, so you never have to go thru this again.

I had the aluminum housing put in mine back in June, it’s leaking again from the housing again. Could be o-rings from what I’ve read
@@loonatik1619 Most likely the Orings, I doubt an aluminum housing would crack unless it was a rare defect on that particular part or the engine got way past the highest temp.
Go with the Dorman. Cost twice as much but you're doing it once. Get what you pay for. @@loonatik1619

I got it on Amazon it was like 89 to 100 bucks if I can remember

If you can upgrade to the aluminum that would be cool but the plastic one will do just fine if your on a budget

The mechanic charge me $800 to replace that and he replace the oil is a good price??
That’s decent but it’s also hard for me to say because I did it myself but I believe the dealership charges around 1300 give or take
