Yohane the Parhelion: Blaze in the Deepblue is a fairly standard Metroidvania experience on the surface. However, Inti Creates has gone the extra mile by incorporating procedurally generated areas, crafting mechanics, and expansive maps for exploration. Unfortunately, the combat is the weakest aspect of the game, and while there are challenging bosses and enemies, the ability to spam healing items diminishes the sense of tension. If you're a Love Live fan, you'll likely enjoy what's here, but if you're unfamiliar with the franchise, there are other Metroidvanias worth exploring.

It's funny how an April Fools joke is now making money.
Because that's the origin of this.
For the uninitiated, Japan takes American holidays to the next level, April Fools being one of them.
In the otaku scene, anime and manga creators for that particular time of the year make wacky announcements for their projects.
For Love Live Sunshine, they announced it would have an Isekai spin off starring the chuuni of the group Yoshiko Tsushima, whose E-Girl name is Yohane.
It would be titled Yohane The Parhelion: Sunshine In The Mirror.
And, here we are.
My physical Switch copy just came today! Excited to get into this. Huge Love Live fan!
I preordered the game a week before release because I really fell in love with the demo! I honestly didn’t know anything about the story or anime. I think it deserves higher like 8.5 for the approachability and nice graphics factor. It runs smoothly on the Switch and it’s really fun. The map is actually very clear, so I’m not sure why you said it’s confusing since the player always has access to the map. If you’re confused then it’s the player’s fault and not the game.
4:10 uh... Lailaps is female and also this just makes no sense as the review starts "the LL series with no males" also... weird Yen is still the currency in an alternate fantasy universe. Just saying hopefully Noisy Pixel sees this...
Well, that's where Nintendo and Fromsoft for example disagree with each other - Nintendo thinks a confused player is a barrier and wasted time and Fromsoft thinks "how can we blindside the player", because it heightens the mystery and fascination of their games. I think that's personal preference in the end and you should never blame the player for getting confused in the first place. It's always the design.
@@SebastianSkadissonThere needs to be context taken into consideration and saying that you should never hold the player accountable is just odd (to say the least). There’s poor game design that confuses general players like Starfield and then there’s simple game design that general players can easily latch onto which make it have accessibility but there’s some players who still won’t “get it.” From this review and was said, this reviewer falls into the latter category.

I had NO IDEA it was a spin off! I don't care for this game but the card game is so good made me want to watch yohane. Not sure if I have time for Love Live the full series considering it's been going on since 2010 lol
The spritework didn't need to go this hard for a licensed anime game. I suppose that's Inti Creates for you.

That dog attack animation is so bad.
I understand that they're going for 'attack so fast that it ends by the time they're revealed'.
There wasn't enough work done w/ it, so it looks more like 'transiton a 0-animation dog sprite, then call it a day'.
