I miss this show. I liked just about every place they went to. Mr D’s definitely did not disappoint. It’s no wonder it’s the most commented segment on TH-cam I’ve seen. I tried them earlier this year and it is the best steak sandwich I’ve ever had. Since it’s only the husband and wife and maybe a couple other workers making your food it can’t be messed up. The steak is simple. Not too many seasonings. Those fries are da bomb. I know they have other items on the menu but everyone comes for the steak.
This Greek couple served steak sandwich for 40 years. The guy is happier than a pig in mud. He is proud of his work, loves it, believes in it, cares for it. He loves his wife is the first thing he says. To me, he is richer than these so called insatiable greedy rich people who don't earn their money honestly. It's never enough for them.
Ditto. A great team. Greek joints always rule. Here in the South, the Greek places are always the most consistent, best food, service and prices. And Chicago in a wonderful town. The hospitality here in the South is hit and miss. I've never had anything but a great time in Chi-town - nice, friendly people. Must be that mid-west influence.
Couldnt agree more, here in Australia places like these are dwindling and are getting replaced by 'tosser' restaurants with crappy food that have no love...quite sad really
That’s the nice thing about Chicago. A bunch of small unique shops. I live in the south. It’s mostly chain restaurants and less mom and pop joints like in the northern cities

the juice is what makes it even better and you wil find it in any souvlaki place in Greece its the juice that accumulates after the souvlaki are off the grill and they put lemon and oregano its to die for and you cant make it at home you have to grill souvlaki every day...bravo re paidia eki sto Chicago you makes us proud!💙
Not just Greeks but this family makes Chicagoans proud! I've been going here for 15 years and both my brother and dad for 25+. Some of the simplest but best food in the city.
I have been eating Mikes food since I was a kid in the neighborhood. Grew up 3 blocks from there on Nashville. It was and in my memory the greatest place to grow up. Mike's food, gene and judes, armands on grand Avenue. I love it there and always will.
This place is FIRE🔥 I recommend a steak with grilled onions and mayo. Perfection 💯 and the fries are always on point. Love this place. Shout out to mikey and Anne.
Somebody please explain to me why the Greeks always run the best places to eat anywhere, doesn’t matter what food they are cooking, it’s always the best place in town to eat at! Master soul food cooks!
That's true. Never noticed that until you brought it up. We have a little bar and grill here with great Mediterranean food and regular bar food that is Greek owned
Walter nailed the secret to successful food joints....you are happy when you leave.....you can have the most expensive place in the world....the most expensive food....but if you don't feel good about eating there....forget it.
I'd rather eat this kind of food than offerings in uppity downtown places costing $85 per person. Came from a humble European background that did not trust strangers cooking their food, paying ridiculous amounts for it, or care for any of the snobby elitists (or wannabes) who patronize those restaurants.
Or.... worries about stealing, overgenerous portions, language barriers or questionable hygiene practices of workers who don't care bec they're not eating the food.
Amen to that Greek that cooks. I live in Laporte, In.and we have 3 restaurants owned and operated by Greeks, never leave less than full always excellent eats, always.
The end is hilarious. "Let's eat." "I'm in, man." "Bears.", "Bears". (chomp) I would totally go to this place if I lived in Chicago. If I keep watching more of these Chicago Best vids, I'm going to have to move there.
Simply the best Shish Kabob you will ever eat. I ask for it juicy and squeeze some lemon over it. The bread is soaked with the flavor of the meat and marinade juices. It come with plenty of fresh cut fries too. Delicious, and you can't beat the price! Enjoy. Opa! Thanks Mike and Ann, you are awesome.
Been going to Mikes place since grammer school . He never even bought new tables. Great place, great people, great food. Also if you ever go here notice how his son is a carbon copy of his father.
Go Packers! But I have to admit that I love Chicago. This native sconnie has been to Burt's Place in Morton Grove, The Weiners Circle on N. Clark, and I have an autographed copy of the Berghoff cookbook. Thanks, chitown! Best rivalry in football. Keep bringing your Illinois tourist dollars this way! We have the brats on the grill for ya!
Whenever I fly into or just before I fly out of O'Hare, it's a toss-up between Mr. D's, Paradise Pup or da Superdawg........... Been to each dozens of times and always, always, always go back! D's!
Great family & awesome food. Literally the one place I crave time and time again. Their steak sandwich is the best I've ever had, but so are their fries probably. My dad and brother have been going for almost 30 years and it has stayed consistently amazing ever since. Everytime I go I get 2 steak sandwiches with grilled onions. The guy in the video who said this is living it large -- COULDN'T HAVE FUCKING SAID IT BETTER!!!
Great video. As my Italian Grandmother would say, “Oregano...ehck, it’s for the Greeks.” But they had me RIGHT UP TO the oregano. I was waiting for the defibrillator to come out for Walter.
Food looks amazing but lets be honest, we all have that "local" spot in our town that we feel is the best of the best,.. for me here in the Tampa Fl area, it's Marians Subs, they been making ONE sandwich for over 50 years and still have a line out the door on most days, places like these are staples of communities and they are AMERICA at it's core.
I would suggest a great restaurant there in Chicago. Its been there for a long time. Its called McDonalds. The owner created a fan favorite, the "Big Mac". I believe he named it after his first born son Mac. I guarantee you will love it. Put me on your show and I will tell you about my 2nd favorite restaurant. The owner of this restaurant named it after his daughter.
