Great to hear the very young voice of Nathalie. No wonder she was successful in the Neue Stimmung competition. What a find. I enjoy her voice now it has developed and she really lets rip on occasion but can also be heartbreakingly tender or whimsical. My favourite contralto, a great conductor also.
wow, i love Nathalie Stutzmann too, she has a wonderfull low voice, a nice vibrato, a wonderfull long neck, and a nice viewable Eve's apple wich quivers nice during singing
I love N. Stutzmann! She sang Amadigi 20 years ago with Minkowski - llggg, you were hardly born then ;-) Last week, she gave a concert where I live. I went there only to hear her voice - in fact she was singing Schubert, but in my imagination, it was Handel (how crazy am I??). After the concert she signed some CDs, I tried to tell her that her Handel solo CD is of the best things ever recorded. She was very surprised as it's 18 years old. And there were only Schubert fans around, haha.
The American premier of George Frideric Handel's 1715 opera Amadigi Di Gaula is being given at the Central City Opera this 2011 summer season. I just had the pleasure of seeing it. The primo uomo and secundo uomo roles were sung by countertenors. The male sound and appearance on stage were more appealing to me than a trouser performance, especially if the substitute voice has a heavy vibrato. I posted a rewiew on MaleSopranos com under the Forums section.
Gorgeous voice (of course: she's Stutzmann!) and articulation, but the tempo is way too slow and she does not sound all that joyous ;-) 15 years have made a big difference in how performance is handled and today's countertenors can really let you feel the joy.

And she is still the greatest contralto in this world.
Wow~I can't believe this young lady is Nathalie Stutzmann. Incredible !! She had such a wonderful contralto voice at that time.

It's the lingual frenulum!

No way she's got a tongue piercing!!
looks like it, though :-D
Only the Americans are obsessed with teeth straightening
Bravissima, ma preferisco Bejun Mehta, per dinamica, timbrica e stacco delle note.
she slightly messes up a coloratura...
