Looks pretty charred. I just bought a lasercut Candy by Pichler and the cuts are much cleaner. I wonder how much power, which type of laser and ventilation are needed. The sides of the balsa are a light brown. Btw, buy-links expire. Putting the model name in the description next to the link would be better.
I've learned from other videos that you can cut light colored materials by either painting them a dark color, or applying a darker color masking paper or tape. The latter is recommended on wood to prevent discoloring the wood on the surface adjacent to the cut lines.
I am just starting with "sculpfun s9" laser and with all the options for software it does get a bit confusing. What programe would you advise for just cutting out my components (balsa and thin plywood) for model RC aircraft. I have limited computer knowledge so a simple straight forward setup is what i am looking for. Appreciate your help Cheers
1. Have you tried buying black foam board and cutting it ? 2. Have you tried doing one round and then using a black marker pen to go around the contour and cut it again with laser ? I'm very interested in that... Please let me know if you try. Thank you
How about grey or black (EPP) foam? What happens if you cover the white foam with black tape or paper? Can you cut (coloured) Coroplast with it? I'm very curious to know! Great production value as always, thums up.
No, you would need a CO2 laser. I have used a slightly stronger version of this one (5w version) and foam board can't be cut no matter the setting. I recently built the ERC TIMSAV CNC (mainly 3d printed check it out) and use this for the foam cutting.
I appreciate your detailed video, even down to warning of strobe coming up. I like the way the machine engraved the part number on the piece. I use a CNC machine for cabinet making and I would like it to ID the piece but it difficult. When you were unpacking, you mentioned the converter for your country. What country are you in?
Hi I am trying to cut “balsa” wood of 3mm thickness using a 15 watt laser on 75 percent power and it does not cut it. Balsa wood here in Australia is not hardwood any more, it’s quite tough. Can someone let me know if there is anything I can do to cut through? I have tried to rerun the cut multiple times but the problem with that is that the machine cuts outside the original cut therefore stuffing up the wood.I would also like to cut plywood of the same thickness.
For cutting you might get better results going 100% power and play around with speeds... so for example, with my 10w diode laser i cut 3mm at 300mm/m speed and 100% power... no issues. So for you having a more powerful laser, shouldnt have issues with 3mm wood.

Commercial ones are stamped or cut with a co² 80w/120w laser

Thanks of you Mister I will try it.
Hello the link has been taken down are you able to tell me which device model it is?
can i we cut depron foam sheets with it
I am planning on making one. Thank you for showing yours!
Was the laser in focus for these cuts?
Can you review the wizard 220s plzzzz
Guessing an Xtool 20W would cut through this like butter!
Will it cut brown Flite Test foam?
I wonder if you can put a layer of black, low-tack plastic plastic sheeting over the foam to help cut.
Settings for balsa and playwood ...thank you
Hello! What is the laser cutter you have? It is sold out so we cannot see the model.
Nice, I actually didn't realize you had a laser when I emailed you earlier! Now you definitely should be in the DIY LaserGuild group!
Loved it
Any chance of reviewing Neje Max 4?
Have you experimented more with cutting foamboard with settings and such?
It doesn't cut the foam board. It just make a line and that's all, the line can be used later as a guide to cut.
Yh it would just melt the foam board
Did you have to use a scanner to scan the plans?
The engraver machine was great.By the by will you please make a indoor rc plane. And through this you can fly at home. Please make one of them.
I see many comments asking for foam cutting, could you expand testing on this topic?

Are you able to scan the wing and fuselage pieces from the plans of a Guillow's airplane kit and cut them with the laser?
Thanks for sharing
Yes definitely
@@JoshtheRCguy That's awesome!
@@Darryl603 yes!! It quite fascinating…my 10w laser arrives in about 10 days! So pretty excited.
How long can you use the laser till you must give its a rest and if so how long is the rest?
From where did you arrange the balsa wood - local market by going physically or online and what was the cost of your setup.
Soms more testing with foamboard would be apriciated. Will it Work with multiple passes?
Ok. It burns the paper layer too much and doesn't do much to cut the rest, it will have to be a lot of passes. I will test it soon.

Black foam I think will be better, but I'll have to test it.
Would you recommend buying this or the good old scroll saw for rc plane making?
Could you show us the passes and speed?
I so wish I could do this I'm so jealous
Just curious to know if you need to lightly sand the burnt edges of the cut wood before using glue on them when building the model.
I wouldn't do it but for a strong bond it's advisible.
Nice
What do you use to go from pdf to a laser file? I’m wanting to do foam board models.
Thanks for the info and review. If you put low tack masking tape on the foam would that solve the cutting issue?

Did you try black foam boards ?@@flying_free
Does it cut metal sheets?
No
How did you import your wing profile (aifoil) into lightroom, did you use something like Profili to create the airfoil?
Please identify the plane shown hanging on the wall behind you, Nice detailed print.
Those are drawings from several different planes: Grumman Wildcat/Hellcat, Hawker Hurricane, Curtiss Helldiver I think, B-24 Liberator...
@@stejer211 Thank-you.
Hawker Hurricane: steel tube fuselage (Warren Truss), with fabric over spruce forms.
can I cut foam board with it? for making RC Model Airplanes?
No you are better off cutting by hand as it is inaccurate with the laser and it may melt
Wow im surprised 2.5 watt will cut plywood 👍cool man your gonna have fun with that ✌
So do you need a more powerful laser to cut foam board? Also glowforge is going spam me with ads since I watched this video 😒
Hahaha stupid TH-cam and their ads. I think I'll need a 7W laser to cut foam board.
where is your home sir?? america??
Do you mean the United States? No, I live in Ireland.
you are live in ireland waoo.I am an INDIAN❤❤your video is so good.
Today l have talked with you( foreighner)
in my life at first.
Hi, Nice introduction thanks, I am interested. May I know where can buy this kit?
He said he got it from Banggood.com😎

I'm in Ireland, this type of plug is for Ireland and UK, and I think some other few countries around the world.

I need something with more power to reduce the number of passes.
wow,.sir
bro plz bulid 2 channel Rc plane step by step.....plzzzzz
looks like it needs a box to extract the fumes
2.5 watts at 2.5 min
In fact you made 2D printer 😏
Good definition.
paint foam board black
Nose pero siento que le copias a dronepedia
