Jacques Pepin is the best chef I have ever seen. He knows everything about everything when it comes to food preparation. I first saw him in the late 80's when he had a cooking show on PBS. He is indeed a "Master". His daughter adds personality to the episode. I like and admire them both.

I really enjoy watching Chef Pepin. Just found this show with his daughter and it's wonderful! That's the same vinaigrette I eat on my salads but I add chopped garlic to it. Simple and delicious. 😊
I love her being there because she is "us". She is the "every-man" to Jacques' mastery. He spoons out a bit of food for a taste and tastes it, where Claudine has to blow on it for a bit before she can try it- just like I would, or anyone else! And then there's his tenderness with Claudine's daughter...beautiful!

Most cooking shows are lone chefs+occasional added guest chef where the two will co-create a dish and work sort of as colleagues, and then also there are the chef+student variety where one is master and other is obviously pupil. Here we have a chef+daughter, who has a span of knowledge of cooking not from being a professional herself but from having a father who is.. it's a little less tv-show and a little more real-life-family-interaction which apparently a lot of people do not care for.
anamiasismudge very well said, I said that very early on on a different episode that's his daughter she's not a TV personality and she spoiled with that being said she is annoying as hell and very disrespectful to her father! but when you're very rich and the European those children talk to their parents like you talkin to some stranger the street in America we don't stand for that no kind of way but if your European that is nothing but it gets on my damn nerves that's what everybody can't stand. that is exactly what everybody does not care for it may be real life but she's not that damn stupid she's just ignorant there's a difference. and she's rude. nothing you could say about that it comes through loud and clear. I have to laugh though cuz everybody's been really harsh but she is rude and disrespectful to him but it's nothing to him. I've worked with a lot of Europeans Jewish people and the way their children speak to them good Lord I would have no teeth, or gums and half my face would be missing!!! But to them it's nothing basically privilege those parents end up paying for it in the end though that's why the series with her was canceled. I agree with you 100%. the thing was she really didn't give a s*** about being there and it showed but to the American audience I don't know about the rest of the world nobody was going to stomach that she kept interrupting and kept interrupting and kept interrupting and was so annoying! when his grandbaby is there it's a beautiful sight. either way this is family. God bless
Woah. I guess I need to try slathering butter on a raw radish with salt! Lol never would have crossed my mind. Not sure I’m going to be happy about it, but I’ll try it. Not sure I can stomach canned apricots in syrup with extra sugar and butter though
LOL i am always glad to read people saying how cheesy or dumb or slow or "what the heck is she doing in the kitchen" smart..seriously with a Father like that i'd of loved being in the kitchen with him, he looks like a great dad. I seriously doubt he all that different off screen!
One interesting thing is that my mom (she's Swedish) always tells me her grandmother would make radish the same way. Except they'd use lemon butter with the salt.
Did the scallop pancakes, and they are excellent. Risked the blender, cause I dont have a mini food processor, and it worked. Be careful opening the club soda. Didnt even shale it, and it sprayed all over the place. Open it slowly. Got a way thicker batter than he did, even using a lot of club soda, and the pancakes spread out and still cooked thin. Used a pound of mini bay scallops, and it still seemed a small amount in the blender. This recipe is pretty idiot proof, considering my non-exact amounts in ingredients. Total cost? $5.65 for a pound of mini bay scallops. I have so much left-over batter, that I will be eating these for the next 80 billion years, lol.
algini12 yea I found with a blender in situations where you use liquid, start with a bit less initially and add the rest gradually. I cant wait to try this out.
Surely there are better chefs, but Jacques is so adept with simple ingredients and simple techniques, maximizing flavor. I have prepared many his ideas from the videos. If nothing else, Jacques will teach you how to cook an egg to perfection. He is an eggophile.
I often cook his lamb curry (using chicken) in an instant pot. I have a problem with the liquid gelling while it's coming to a boil because of the instant flour or cornstarch.
once i saw an episode where while jacque was plating a dish cluadine took a pinch of chopped parsley and spread it around the rim of the plate "like in the tready resturants" she said. he BLEW UP LIKE A VOLCANO ONLY TIME THE CHARM LEFT HIM AND HE ACTED LIKE A FRENCH CHEF most of these great chefs are great guys too,but they are deadly serious about their work, if you mess with their food.......run
Do you know what the rack is Jacques Pepin put scallop pancakes on? I'm looking for one, but don't know what it's called and Googling food racks did not bring up this type rack. Thx, shalom.
To come here and read comments how people love and respect Jacques but can't stand his daughter. You understand that you have no respect and love for him when you trashtalk his family right? Pam Fridell /I agree one example is when Jacques says he will put in a couple of CUPS of garlic when he meant to say a couple of CLOVES of garlic! I have seen him many times make small missteps of the English language while cooking but he always corrects himself and never leaves it hanging. This time he is so distracted by his daughter that he has thrown off his natural rhythm and I feel this throughout the video. That is why I’d prefer to watch him cook alone he weaves in his anecdotes he has time and space to do everything and quickly. I have been in situations where it is more work to have an assistant and continually have to tell them what to do than to just do it yourself!
Jacques is pure GOLD. There will NEVER be anyone like him. Can’t imagine all the good amazing food he has made for his own family over the years.

anamiasismudge very well said, I said that very early on on a different episode that's his daughter she's not a TV personality and she spoiled with that being said she is annoying as hell and very disrespectful to her father! but when you're very rich and the European those children talk to their parents like you talkin to some stranger the street in America we don't stand for that no kind of way but if your European that is nothing but it gets on my damn nerves that's what everybody can't stand. that is exactly what everybody does not care for it may be real life but she's not that damn stupid she's just ignorant there's a difference. and she's rude. nothing you could say about that it comes through loud and clear. God bless
anamiasismudge damn that comment was 5 years ago sorry I thought it said 5 monthsDAAAMMN
Christina Lopez youre kind of psychotic... aren’t ya mam?
Je trouve ici la cuisine de mes ancetres. Monsieur Pepin, merci.
Claudine is very pretty. She, also, seems to be a great daughter and very nice woman. Leave her alone, trolls.
Claudine, you are beautiful and lovely. I always enjoy when she's on the show.
She has a delightful camera personality and the interaction between the two is delightful.
Claudine is beautiful.
11:03 - awesomely french moment, just like my chef
Thank-you so much. Season's Greetings:)
So pretty... god bless
Yummy & Adorable!❤️🥰
If you don't know what the culture of food and cooking is about. Allow me to introduce you a true Genius!!
''Sometimes it's gonna blow your mind.''
I'm homer simpson drooling at the curry 22:20
Claudine's face when he tastes the pepper @ 8:02. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
People who put down Claudine don't realize she is intentionally acting as a foil for Jacques .
Well, she does a great job at that.
Seems to me it doesn’t matter if people don’t like Claudine or not it’s his daughter
One interesting thing is that my mom (she's Swedish) always tells me her grandmother would make radish the same way. Except they'd use lemon butter with the salt.
cooling rack -- also used for cooling cookies and such.
+algini12 Thanks for letting us know because I definitely want to make that and the tart!
Chill the soda first, it does tend to spray more when warm.
Surely there are better chefs, but Jacques is so adept with simple ingredients and simple techniques, maximizing flavor. I have prepared many his ideas from the videos. If nothing else, Jacques will teach you how to cook an egg to perfection. He is an eggophile.
Doubtful there are better chefs.
I often cook his lamb curry (using chicken) in an instant pot. I have a problem with the liquid gelling while it's coming to a boil because of the instant flour or cornstarch.
Update. I now omit the instant flour and replace it with a cornstarch slurry at the end of cooking.
That's how my mother would eat radishes. On bread, with butter and salt.
once i saw an episode where while jacque was plating a dish cluadine took a pinch of chopped parsley and spread it around the rim of the plate "like in the tready resturants" she said. he BLEW UP LIKE A VOLCANO
ONLY TIME THE CHARM LEFT HIM AND HE ACTED LIKE A FRENCH CHEF
most of these great chefs are great guys too,but they are deadly serious about their work, if you mess with their food.......run
What a master!
ha this was amazingly awkward I appreciated the realness
+ReanimatorHW How so? Just curious on your thoughts.
+Tanya Walker Its been a while probably was the interaction with his daughter . Whats your favorite pepin recipe, just curious.
Lol
Not even if you spread it on bread? And use salted butter, it tastes better imo.
She sliced the banana so thin by the time it cooks it will be mushy and u won’t even notice
Right? Doesn’t make sense, especially going into a pressure cooker.
Do you know what the rack is Jacques Pepin put scallop pancakes on? I'm looking for one, but don't know what it's called and Googling food racks did not bring up this type rack. Thx, shalom.
This guy loves apricots.
so true! every dessert has apricot jam :)
To come here and read comments how people love and respect Jacques but can't stand his daughter. You understand that you have no respect and love for him when you trashtalk his family right? His flesh and blood, his greatest creation you mocking. How would you all feel watching a clip on youtube with your daughter and when you scroll through comments all she get to see is that she is useless and annoying in all episodes. You as a father would hurt seeing your daughter hurt so use your damn brains if you have any before you say stuff that hurt the greatest chef that ever walked the earth.
Love these episodes it really feel like christmas every time. It have that cosy feeling and vibe in each episode just magical.
Love him
looks great, but aren't you supposed to brown the lamb before throwing it into the pressure cooker?
+Midas Report that's the great thing about cooking there are no rules
Ertzor I most definitely would NEVER in my existence ask any 5 star French chef, let alone Jacque Pepin “aren’t you supposed to......!” NEVER!!!
+Regina Ferri, i tend to agree. She is assertive in nature, unlike her father. After all, it's HIS show.
Want to live a long life, take a lesson or two from Mr Pepin, add a little exercise and enjoy life.
i'm from morocco :D
For those who don't like Claudine there's a simple solution to your "problem": don't watch the episodes she's in. Sure you have a right to express your opinion, but why complain about something you have control over?
jarjon76 believe me there's a reason why they say what they say either way you can nicely not watch the thing is you want to get that recipe we just want her to move to the side of a little bit and hush up just a little bit LMAO please do not respond hostly thank you just thought I'd have a little fun thereWheeeew
Dont talk about Cluadine Dang - it!!!
I hear u
It's youtube comments the whole point is to complain about things you can't control.
Jermaine Race You make a very valid point. Well said Jermaine.
L think it wonderful he wants his daughter with him she learn from him an hes loves his family
I prefer the episodes without his daughter in them too. I learn more if I'm not distracted by what she's doing.
It must be delicious, because jaques was cooking it, but i will never try this european kind of curry as a person from india
They seem a little distant from each other. No hugs or kiss.
However did the French decide that radishes should be paired with butter?
Claudine is a babe.
She put the electric food processor in the sink. Jesus
