What a great bargain. I love hot cross bun , it’s very expensive here. So many selections at the clearance shelf. Enjoy shopping. Have a great day. Greetings Amie🇳🇿
We had a lovely nettle patch on the garden, and I used to make delicious healthy nettle soup. Unfortunately we had to get some gardeners in, as my husband wasn’t able to do the garden, and they got rid of the lot! I’m hoping they’ll grow again as they’re very good to eat.
I always pick off the unripened figs as they never ripen properly and often go rotten and fury. They can cause a fungus which is very bad for the tree. If you pick them off now more energy can go into growing and ripening your new ones x
We never get such great reductions here down south . Didnt know they done the veg cheap at easter so thanks for that . Love your videos its like chatting with an old friend 😀👌
I'm afraid you cannot get anywhere near the reduced section in our local stores. There are groups of women who arrive together and stand in a semi circle around the reduced items they then load up a trolley and then they all go through everything that they have loaded up at their leisure. When they have had thier pick, they then leave their cast offs in the trolley and leave the store altogether...they don't even put back what they don't want. It is very frustrating and I have given up trying to compete with them...
Supermarkets have stopped putting reduced items out at set times here in Glasgow for this reason. You would find certain groups waiting around an masse father, mother, several children all with own trophies and they would literally just grab without looking specially meat items. Husband and I tended to avoid shopping at that time. However one night had no choice so off we went. A member of staff stopped us and a couple of others our age asking if we would help out by answering a ten questions survey about 7-8 in total did. She once we had finished asked us to follow her as we had earned a reward. She had asked the parents of the ethnic group but both refused her very nastily. As we followed her other staff were putting reduced items out and one couple commented that they tended to avoid store at this time for that reason we agreed as did two others. Staff member said really one man told her he knew of around ten of his friends who also avoid because of the aggressive behaviour they faced even looking. She said you may get a surprise tonight. As usual the area was blocked by the families trophies and they were just throwing s meat 8items in without looking about 7 trollies. Next the staff brought out bakery and vegetable items again they were filling up sight unseen when no more were coming out off they headed to tills. Paid up took trophies to a minibus. The staff member took us through to a small room anð and told us to take as much as we could use everything was 10p there are cchicken roasts of beef ,lamb you name it it was there I asked if she would mind if we took a 💑of Turkey's and roasts explained we were members of the local salvation army and we had two pensions lunch clubs every week and a homeless drop in once a week. She phoned someone then a man arrived he was the manager he asked if we had any means of confirmEd were who we said I showed him my I'd as members of our emergency services team. By then the others had taken what they wanted and left. The staff member told him of conversation about how people avoid shopping when reduced items go out because of the problem. He laughed and said don't think that they will be in a hurry after tonight. He asked if we had transportation and when we said yes he escorted my husband to have car brought to loading bag and they literally filled out Volvo estate to capacity meats breads get milks this even cakes chocolates. We took it direct to help and called friends to help us unload. We made up a bag of various items for each family who helped and one for ourselves. The manager then contacted our officers to arrange twice weekly pick ups he has done this for last 19months now. It's been a blessing as we have surplus to help those families in need. And it seems that that family that cleared out the meats etc that night had physically refused to allow a man to take something meat size the night before he had put couple of items in his frilly and they attempted to force him to hand them over he refused and reported it at check out. The meat items they had so doggedly refused to allow anyone else near and just dumped uncaring in trophies every single item was pork in one form or another. They had cleared it out.. Seems they attempted to return it all next day but we're told reduced food item unreturnable. The store now staggers the time reduced items go on sale and there are clearly stated limits per sale. As for your question about vegetables prices before and after holidays. Before Easter look was selling all root get at 15p after Easter they were selling the surplus at 10p Potatoes, carrot onion turnip parsnips you name it.
Hi Jill the plants are comeing along nicely they realy are we .we do get a lot of bargained food but your store is best all them things for such little money.how lovely .I just made s cheese snd leak sauce with gammon and mash peas and carrots .unfortunately none of this was knocked down .x
Your fig tree is doing really well. Great bargains, everyone needs a treat now and then! I'm heading for Lidl next week to see if they have their veg reduced for Easter, if so I'll be stocking up 🤞
😳😳😳 yep, that confirms it. I have a stinging nettles phobia!!😂 I nearly died when you went near it in case you stroked it like your other plant pets. I have a phobia of liver too. Offal. My mother was a cooking teacher. She did brains, tripe, ox tongue, pigs head🤮🤮🤮🤮 and liver and giblets. It was beyond me to suffer from her experiments when there was a chip shop, and I used to steal 50 cents to buy hot chips so I didn't have to eat her awful offal. 😂 nope. Never. She boiled up a pigs head and then threw it on the compost because all of us nearly spewed. I told my big sister that story in a gourmet London delicatessen that Princess Diana used to visit after seeing a pig with apple in its mouth there. She dragged me out of the shop with her hand over my mouth like I was a criminal. The only crime I have ever committed was stealing 50 cents from my mum so I didn't have to eat offal. 😂😂 Belinda
