Ok so I’m thinking about getting the Magnus Desk, but I’m torn between the basic desk or the XL Sit To Stand desk. Also what monitor arms were you using before getting the SecretLab arms? Also would you say the desk is “worth it” because my budget isn’t the greatest but I can afford the desk but just don’t want to make a bad decision.
I was using the Fully Jarvis dual monitor arm before (1:15 in the video), and I would say the desk was absolutely worth it. I don't use the "magnetic ecosystem" as much as I though I would but I love the cable management, construction is super solid, and the Magpad is holding up extremely well. I can see the draw of the sit/stand version but I opted for the extra space of the L extension instead. No regrets!
LOL I can relate to the story about the vacuum -- we (wife & I) just about a month ago finally replaced ours which we bought shortly after starting to go out together. 20-ish years we had that thing. In any case thanks for doing this video, I'm potentially considering switching from a shelf for my monitors to an arm, so seeing some unboxing/reviews/commentary about them is useful. Good to know the Fully Jarvis works well as that's the one I'm currently eyeing.
Hey great video, may i ask if yours could rotate from horizontal to vertical orientation? mine cant 😢 after trying to loosen some screw still doesnt work, would help tonnes if you could tell me how❤
Not sure if this is going to help but... mine can. Either direction. Hard to say what the issue might be without looking at it but it should be able to!
It is more expensive, but many people now wish they had bought two of the Secretlab Monitor Arms, versus the Dual, to get that extra bit of layout freedom. I bought the Dual for my Magnus Pro XL. Nice video!
Quick question cause I’m thinking of getting a secret lab monitor arm for my Magnus pro xl, is it worth it? And I’ve got 3 monitors so is it better to buy 3 singles or 1 dual and 1 single arm? Thank you.
@@dmgctrl The Secretlab Monitor Arms are very nice. They match the desk and were designed for it. So, the fit and finish is really perfect. That said, they are expensive, and I suspect there are other options just as good, if not better. Three singles will give great freedom to run the entire back of the desk. A single and a double will probably come close, if not also providing the same span. The only thing I do no love about the Secretlab Arms is that there does not seem to be a way to adjust the height.
@@dmgctrl zer0ed779 pretty much nailed it, they're extremely well designed, especially for the Magnus, but I also wouldn't mind if they went a bit higher (the bottom of my 32 inch monitor only sits 8.5 inches above the desk). For 3 monitors I'd probably still do a double and a single, little bit cheaper and I'd probably just be doing a centered arrangement anyway.
The bottom edge of my 32" monitor is about 8.25 inches from the top of the desk. I don't have a 27" to test with but I'd guess you'd get at least another inch? If you try it let me know!
I didn't end up needing any spacers which might be why I don't actually remember any spacers! I'd say you're right though, those are usually things to make sure the screws don't go too deep into the monitors (if needed)
One of my monitors had a fan behind the VESA mounting, which the stand had holes for. If I were to place the plate directly on it, it would significantly restrict airflow. The standoffs help with thia. Additionally, there might be displays with recessed VESA mounting, which could cause the monitor to collide with the arms when pivoting. Don't know of they added more recent but they also state in their instructions that you might need them depending on your display.
@ryan_runs_ yeah I'm currently looking at a few and alot of people are saying that it works mainly with the desk and I was looking at the ASUS ergo arm and it looks pretty nice
Are you able to adjust the arms 360 degrees? They seem stiff in the video. I'm scared I won't be able to have my monitor flushed all the way to the wall or not du to the arm adjustment.
My desk is up against the wall so I can't test it but I'd say yes, when I was assembling them (you can kind-of see at 5:19 and 10:00 in the video) I didn't notice any stops that would've kept them from going the full 360.
What monitor arms were you using originally before the MAGNUS? I am trying to find other compatible monitor arms since the MAGNUS one's can only hold 34 inch. Thank you!
Hello, I bought the Jarvis yesterday but I saw your video now they are both practically the same value here in Canada so I would like to know between the two which do you prefer with this table there? I can cancel Jarvis's one or return it, there's still time for me to decide.
The Jarvis is great, I will say I was never disappointed, but I do like the Secretlab a bit better. The magnetic cable management is great; I have yet to tighten any joints and it still balances everything perfectly out of the box; I like the clamp a lot better because it distributes the pressure more evenly on the desk; and I know it's subjective but I like the look with the squared-off design and color accents. I will say this though, the Jarvis does allow you to position the monitors higher, if that's a consideration. Either way congrats, enjoy the purchase :)
Can you adjust the monitors to touch side by side in landscape mode without the arm touching the wall? I have 32" monitors and I want them to be as close as possible.
Definitely, the way they arms work they just swing forward, if you look at a lot of the Secretlab marketing for them that's pretty much how they have them set up in some of the pictures
@@ryan_runs_ Thanks! I was worried that I would have to pull the desk away from the wall due to the arm having to be far enough away to get the closeness I want.
I'm thinking about buy the Magnus Pro desk and get the dual monitor arm with it but I didn't know how my monitor would do with it. I got two MSI 27 inch curved monitors but when I measured it does come out to 24 inches. Would that work without having any problems with monitor hitting each other? Plus I do want to put my pc on the desk and It will go on the right side of the desk. My pc is 22 inches{length} 9.25 inches{width} and 21 inches{tall}. If you could help me out that would be wonderful!
Fully extended, straight out in either direction, it measures about 37.5 inches between the center of each monitor bracket. I have two 32 inch non-curved monitors and I keep my arms not fully extended with the monitors angled in and I still have 4 inches between them. The functional top of the table measures 23 inches deep and then there's an additional 4.75 inches in the back that is the "lid" to the cable management compartment. I think Secretlab also sells a PC mount for under the desk but you probably knew that, good luck with whatever you decide!
@@ryan_runs_ Thanks for the reply man! Still trying to figure out if I want to get the Magnus Pro or the Magnus Pro XL. Either way it's still a pretty nice desk.
@@johnwick8138 for sure, can't go wrong with either I'd say, I'm enjoying the extra space with the L extension but the sit/stand option has always been a draw.
Great! Turns out I move them around more than I expected and they still haven't loosened up at all. Still default tension right out of the box and I haven't had to tighten them up or anything.
Can anyone help me.... I have 3 x 27" curved monitors that id like to be side by side and probably touching / together / no gaps...... Am i best of getting 3 single Secret labs, A single and a double, or just some cheap monitor arms elsewhere? (I have the Secret Lab Magnus Desk 1.5m)
The way mine ended up I'd have to push my desk away from the wall so I could push the arms back further if I wanted my two 32" monitors to touch, so if your desk isn't against a wall you should be fine
So you can see in the video that each arm comes in two pieces, you might be able to the bottom piece of one arm as the second piece of the other arm but then you'd have a leftover piece and just one arm with 3 stages. The second/top pieces terminate in a receptacle for the monitor bracket so unless you can replace those with something else I'd say no, not really.
I can't say for all desks obviously but there's nothing specific about the mechanics of the clamp that wouldn't work on other desks, as long as the desk has an open end that can take a clamp it should be fine!
6.25 inches wide on top, about 6 inches wide underneath, and I don't know how wide it opens but my desk is 1 inch thick so I'd imagine 1.5 wouldn't be an issue at all.
Well, I can tell you before this one I had the Fully Jarvis Dual Monitor arm, no complaints store.hermanmiller.com/office-furniture-desk-accessories-organization/jarvis-dual-monitor-arm/2548840.html?lang=en_US Before that it was two separate arms I got off amazon, definitely cheaper but not recommended if you want to move the monitors at all afterwards...

You spend that much money on monitor arms you’d expect it to go very high aswell. Sounds like it wouldn’t be able to put two 24inchs on top of eachother?
My 32 inch monitors are 17 inches tall and have about 7.5 inches between the bottom edge and the top of the desk. If your 24 inch monitors are about 12 inches tall that would give you maybe 10 inches from the bottom edge to the desk so still not enough to fit a 12 inch tall monitor. Just an estimate but I'm guessing it wouldn't work.
Hard to tell exactly what you mean but there obviously shouldn't be any issue with the tensions screws, and it should be fully adjustable to sit straight or crooked or any other way you want it. Secret Lab support is pretty good, send an email or give them a call!
