When the Raven Queen ascended to godhood, the memory of the original Goddess of death disappeared, and the name of the wizard who ascended also vanished.
The Mages of the Age of Arcanum seemed to forget that the only reason they have magic is because the God GRANTED them that ability to use magic. As they say, Pride comes before the Fall.
Milus Phren was the low level Magister that came to Nydis basically asking to be included into favors they usually give to higher level people. The Elven woman who's name no one remembers, that's a reference to the woman who ascended to be the Raven Queen, her old name was whipped from the world.
Great reaction. 22:11 - Laerryn’s personality is different from Aabria’s personality. Aabria is a DM herself and knows the ins and outs of D&D’s rules pretty well. In fact, before C3 started, they did an 8-part miniseries that started off the Exandria Unlimited idea and Aabria was the GM for that series and Matt Mercer was a player in it. [but I wouldn’t recommend you watch it until you finish C2] Aabria has also GM’d different seasons of Dimension 20. Also, any time she has played a PC in other people’s games, her characters tend to have big drives and generally don’t apologize for how they are in life. She black and a woman, two things ppl on the Internet tend to dislike, so she gets a TON of flack from ppl but I genuinely love what she’s given to the actual play community online. 26:24 - Joe, you’re doing a fantastic job of being able to distinguish between the actors and the characters and any flack you give is towards the characters. A LOT of ppl online have problems separating the two so you are miles ahead of much of the online community. Bravo. PS: yes, every actor on EXU Calamity is killing it. It’s sort of insane how good EXU Calamity is. 38:01 - It’s the Matron of Ravens. They already mentioned that when the mortal woman who became the Matron did her Ritual of Ascension, she struck from the minds of everyone/the universe the identity of the previous god of death & the Matron’s former mortal name. 1:06:02 - I too was greatly frustrated by the hubris of (most) of these characters. But that’s just a testament to the actors in this show really going for it. It takes a lot of bravery as an actor to play unlikeable characters. But everyone was on board in being just terrible people and I have to applaud it.
Hello hello I'm back! - In C1, Vox Machina, specifically Grog, managed to acquire a jar that could produce any consumable "drink". He mostly summoned ale, and on occasion water, but for shits and giggles he tried summoning mayonnaise. And it WORKED lmao hence the joke - All knowledge of the Matron of Ravens before she ascended was completely erased from Exandria the moment she became the goddess. So what Brennan implied to Marisha was that Patia learned about the leylines converging and things like the Apogee Solstice SPECIFICALLY from her. But Patia just doesn't remember her because nobody does. :D Sorry I've been absent from the last one, but it was a really good reaction and I had no notes! I'll add more here if there's more to add ✨
- Loquatius and Laerryn actually mention it in this episode and I think you talked over it hence why you didn't catch it, but as a Changeling, Quay is technically Fae, which means he came from the Feywild, which is another plane that is distinctly the home for the Fae, and is known for having various portals all over the Mortal plane that mortals could come in to. That's why of all of them, he was the one that didn't see how big of a deal getting to travel to a new plane would be when he already enjoys the one he's in right now, and trust me, that little factoid will come back later. Because it paints quite a picture that in an entire city of mortal wizards, its Face belongs to a creature "known for its deceit." If there's anything I've learned from watching CR over the years, it's to never underestimate Sam's characters. One moment they make you laugh so much it hurts, and the next you're bawling your eyes out. In this case, he's at the center of so many truths and lies. "You have no idea how many secrets I kept for you" is one heck of an understatement.
- Really good analogy with the Tortoise and the Hare! And yeah, it's amazing how unlikeable the characters are but they still make you clutch your heart anyway, hoping that they would win against the odds. But you know that it's a tragedy, so you just gotta hold on tight while we watch them fall. :)
Thanks for sharing as always bayo! And no need to apologize. These videos are for your viewing pleasure when it's convenient for you. I'm just happy to see you and many others come back to see my journey as I experience this story. Again, thanks!
@@DiggityBippityDnD You're welcome, my dude! Your reactions help me get through some work stuff, and it's always a treat to see more Critters come into the fold. Thank YOU, my guy ✨
the woman that is talked about who taught Patica magic, was the mortal form of the raven queen before she ascended, and killed the previous god of death, who erased all who knew her real names memory. and who used said solstice to both have great enough power to do so only cause of the solstice.
42:21 ahhh you caught it good job 😂 remember, Zerxes is considered very special bc he is a devotionless paladin, someone who weilds divine magic without a deity. I know others have explained that technically in the verbiage of the dnd class paladins do not have to make an oath to a God, their power technically comes from the oath itself. CR very much employs that loophole in their lore but it's worth keeping in mind the VAST majority of paladins in exandria are devoted to gods. In this time period Zerxes is potentially the only one of his kind. Wonder what that fact would do to a person in this environment 🤔
That 5 investigation check to follow the labyrinth. The explanation is the MOST 'I need him to get there, abort roll, ABORT ROLL' I have ever seen, but that's how it goes sometimes.
I know it's a small thing, but you've pronounced Aabria's name wrong, and I think you should fix that. (Also pronouncing Exandria wrong, but that's not someone's name, so it's not a big deal.)
