When you said the film didn't turn out so well, I almost skipped the episode. So glad I didn't! You have a wonderful skill for capturing these fast street scenes and to me that shines through any technical issues, but then I'm known to like blurry photos. Thank you for these wonderful videos.
Hi Ed, long time fan here. I believe I may know the reason why your 2nd roll on the FF1 turned out not up to par. According to some information I read online and the ff1's manual also kinda indicates it, if the hotshoe is occupied (in your case, it's the go-pro), the ricoh ff1 has the ability to detect that and will change its shutter speed to 1/60 and mess with the auto-exposure, which in theory could cause some blurry images and weird exposure choices you mentioned. Anyway, I hope you find this useful. Keep up the good work!
I have an Olympus XA that I sometimes am frustrated with... which do you think is better between these? I know you talked about it in this episode a little, but Id love for you to do some sort of comparison with this the minox, XA, Lomo, talking about the best of the tiny compact cameras!
Excellent video, but I don't like the camera. The lens/film combo is not attractive, and the camera is either overexposing everything, or the battery voltage is wrong. I much prefer what Ed did with the XA2.
EDUARDOOOOO!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! QUE FOTOS TAN BUENAS!!! , espero puedas sacar una publicación con estas, UN LIBRO HOMBRE!!! SERIA ESTUPENDO!! Saludos y un abrazo desde Bogotá
Smena 8M please! I'm curious to see how you'll be able to experiment with that fully manual "toy" camera. For added challenge: don't use a lightmeter and focusing accessories 😆
Super cool little camera. The only reason I won't buy one is because it lacks a rangefinder patch :( I'm just not confident with my guessing and I would have loved one for impromptu portraits
Yes, at some photos I definitely see this happening but look at the photos where the people are wearing very bright outfits. This is where the camera should have throttle down its shutter speed but it didn't. Even there the overexposion happened.
Hi, love your videos, you are a huge inspiration for me! I've been shooting film for quite some time, but I just can't manage to scan color film properly... How do you scan color film? :) (I'm using Canon 9000f Mark II)
MrTomcatCZ Hi i have the exact same model scanner. Canon has a reputation for good colour science, and my colour negs turn out just fine. What seems to be your problem?
Flatbed scanners just won’t give you amazing results no matter what you do. I gave up on that boat, so I purchased a Pakon F135 for scanning my color films. Otherwise, it was just too frustrating.
Scangear works alright for me? Try messing around with certain settings like the colour saturation and tint. (you have to go into advanced mode). Also try using settings like fade correction and see if that helps. Colour rendition and sharpness depends on both the film and the scanner
I'm always using advanced mode, but even when correcting these settings, I just can't get it close enough. I've had pretty decent results with SilverFast and it's NegaFix, which let's you choose your film type and does the main corrections for you. But I've only tried the demo version with watermarks. License for this can be pretty expensive going from 50€ to 300€+
1:39 you are one lucky guy for getting a hold of that film. Fuji Pro Plus II is out of production and is very hard to find on eBay and elsewhere! You should do a review video if this film stock I still have one pro pack x5 of this film myself!
There's a store called Profesa its address is the following: Petit Thouars Avenue 3231. Its right next to a laundry. If you are expert please contact me so i could learn a thing or two :)
Im really sorry to hear that. I dont really know if international shipping companies apply xray to the packages. If they are xray exempted, then I think it would be possible to ship it with no issue :)
Is it because of the camera or the film, i do not know but colors in those photos are amazing? (and also shots of course, love your works) I searched the amazon and could not find the film. I think they stopped manufacturing it. :/ Do you know where can i buy it? Great video by the way. :)
Great video as always! I would put it on f11 and on infinity in your place, but it does not matter you usually have great photos, I'm not saying these are not good! :) I like the camera and I would like to try it. I use a couple of old cameras with zone focusing and I learned how to focus with them but sometimes I miss focus. I especially like to shoot with King Regula Picca CS camera and Beirete VSN . Just keep it going, I enjoy your videos. Thank you!

That’s an interesting theory and makes a lot of sense. I wish I could put it to test, but I no longer have the FF1 with me. Nice catch, thanks a lot!!
When you nailed focus, the combo of lens and film look great to me. I miss the drum music track that you usually have
I miss it too! I just thought the carnival music made a nice ambient, so it would be sad to replace it.

If it’s just a compact camera, the Lomo LC-A. If I can carry an external rangefinder with me, the Minox. Those would be my choices. :)

I don't agree about missing drums. Drums and street photography are not compatibile at all.
When the focus is right, so many of the photo turn out great. I love 3:45
The colors in those photos were amazing!
Is the green dot on the distance reel some kind of autofokus ?
Hi, I've heard that the battery was a S76. What battery do you use to replace it (I even have no clue of the shape of a S76). Thanks
love the color of those photos!!!!

hey, what does the green ring on the recoh ff-1 dinstance setting ring mean? is it some sort of automated distance guessing?
Super cool little camera. The only reason I won't buy one is because it lacks a rangefinder patch :( I'm just not confident with my guessing and I would have loved one for impromptu portraits
Very nice photos,Ed!Love the little girl with sunnies on))
I think you did a great job! Always entertaining to watch you shoot 😊
loved it, some very nice photo's!!! i also have the zone focus "wrong" sometime on my Rollei 35 .. still learning haha
At 2:57, that might be the most incredible Super 8 (?) camera I've seen in a while
I didn’t see it, you just made me notice it. Looks like a Reflex Bollex with a turrent lens.
These overexposure is really strange. Maybe the battery voltage is to high?
LasstUnsSpielen I think it was more due to composition (framing uneven lights)
Yes, at some photos I definitely see this happening but look at the photos where the people are wearing very bright outfits. This is where the camera should have throttle down its shutter speed but it didn't. Even there the overexposion happened.
LasstUnsSpielen true, hadn't noticed :)

Eduardo: Thanks for your answer! Keep your channel active, because without you, I probably wouldn't be shooting film now.

Where did you get the proplus film. I managed to snatch some 100iso, 200iso rolls when I was in china. But it became rare
Xavier Ancarno i’ve got a 10 rolls stash. Here in Peru that film comes in very cheap at $3 the roll :)
Hi!, where in Peru? i'll be in Lima in a week and would love to stock up :)
There's a store called Profesa its address is the following: Petit Thouars Avenue 3231. Its right next to a laundry. If you are expert please contact me so i could learn a thing or two :)
Gerardo hmm i want to try that filmm too but unfortunately I'm so far away from Peru. I'm living in Vietnam
Im really sorry to hear that. I dont really know if international shipping companies apply xray to the packages. If they are xray exempted, then I think it would be possible to ship it with no issue :)
is this in hastings?
Ricoh or Olympus xa. What is better?
It depends on your personal opinion which camera is better
Are you in the states?! Come through to Nashville let’s collab!
I’m in NYC for another week. Come here! :)
EduardoPavezGoye haha. Looks like you’re gonna need to make a Tennessee tour the next time you’re here. (I’m in Memphis)

I was able to find only two rolls in Mexico. :(
EduardoPavezGoye So sad :'( Thanks for the answer. :)
The video was amaazing but the music

Another great video :)
Interesting view on the camera :)
It's a small interesting camera!
3:44 tremendo foto, Ed
i kinda like the results
The windy sound is horrible !!
The video is very amazing :-)!!
Very noise for this episode :'(
Very GOOD!
Looks like a Rollie 35 with an Auto mode
what a bad sound, you are no beginner...this windy noise is terrible....:(
