Hi question for you when preparing a panel for clear only what grit of sand paper do you recommend im a moble bumper guy and currently just use scuff paste and a grey scotch pad but fear thats not enough but im afraid of seeing sand scratches through the clear. Ty in advance
600 is safe, no scratches, plenty of adhesion, even on silvers. Your right scuff pad is not enough.
Ok so 600 wet? Thanks again
I think I've asked this before. It's okay to spray base paint over the existing clear when blending?
Yes, as long as the existing clear is in good condition.
Hi, I have a quick question. I have seen other videos that say to use a clear "intercoat" all over the panels before spraying base so the metallics lay down better. What is your take on this?
Love the channel, by the way! Very Helpful. Also, how do you spray such clean work in a random environment? Do you just turn fans on for a while before shooting?
Thank's for the comment. I would put the clear basecoat over the whole panel . It's just a good idea especially on silvers and metallics
I use fans to draw fumes out but the main thing is to make sure you blow out the gaps on the car or anywhere dirt could hide. Tight taping so dust doesn't blow ou of cracks . Make sure nothing will come off you when your painting as well. The most important thing is make sure you have clean oil and moisture free air supply! Thank's for watching!
Love your channel Chris! Great teaching!
When you put clear over a side like the blue car does that make the other side ( with no repair) stick out ? Does the customer ever say any thing?
Most of the time there's no real noticeable difference in the appearance. Now if the car is older and the paint has began to fade there could be a noticeable difference. I make customers aware of that right from the start.
What size tip?
