It isn't functional without the cap in line. It disables it all together from keying. The CW spoof is funny because it can't talk CW the way it is either. They put CW boards in them for a year or so but quit doing that too. So yes, "soldering that capacitor leg makes it operational "
I have 2 Texas Star 350's I bought brand new in 2006. What needs to be done to them so I can use them? I was told you have get some kind of work done to them before they will function.
I have a brand new one it is just like this one it does around 240 why is a new 350 only putting out around 240? My max swing is around 35 on my Cobra 29. My dead key on radio 3 watts inn.
