I think Ranger is missing at least some of the mark here…or ignoring a significant part of the market…they need to bring a modern AM/FM/SSB rig with CTCSS/DCS capability in FM mode (factory standard), smaller form factor and…Kenwood style audio connectors. Look at what President, AnyTone, Stryker, PNI and so on are doing. I know, there are lots of rebranded AnyTone rigs out there. Anybody remember the CRE8900? Now sold as an Alinco DX-10. Internet linked repeaters, remote stations, simplex repeaters…now that FM is part of the picture…well, these things can absolutely be done here in the U.S. Does that mean AM and SSB are obsolete? Hell no. I love a loud, punchy (but not distorted) AM rig. Galaxy DX 959, Cobra 29, Superstar 3000, Superstar 3900 (especially the older ones) with a mild tune and an Astatic 636L or M6B amplified mic on AM is awesome. The market for these rigs is very much still here. These high power built-in-amplifier rigs are beasts..*but not everybody wants / needs / can realistically afford a 400, 500+ watt radio*. Something like the Superstar 121 (with CTCSS / DCS capability) or the smaller PNI HP8001 or HP8000L (or HP82, or the other mobile that has the Kenwood 2-pin / Baofeng standard audio connector right on the front) would be ideal. Now it’s possible to set up your own CB *repeater* for less than the price of one of these beast radios. $100 or less for an AM/FM rig, $50 or so for a simplex repeater controller, plus costs for DC power supply, amplifier (if desired, nothing crazy is needed, a RM Italy KL200 / KL203 or entry-level Texas Star or other 100-200w amp is all you really need…coax cable and a base antenna and you’re good.
@@heathlawson3059 The radio is sold as a 10 meter ham radio . It’s designed to be converted to 11 meter cb So after converting it , it will do 10 meter frequencies still , and also 11 meter CB
