    From a porteño:
Well actually we kiss everybody in the cheek, not just doctors do lol. It can be strange at first for foreigners but it’s just our way to great each other.
The corner thing it’s not (or at least not as I know) related to robberies but to see the car or carriage coming from the other street in order to avoid collisions. This building rule was stablished so much time ago that there is little to no buildings without this caracteristic thing we call “ochava”.
The lock thing it’s very weird bathrooms should have a lock... but in many restaurants they simply don’t. It’s weird... but also they might not have toilet paper or soap.
Anyways, I’m always happy to see that foreigners enjoy my city, I hope that you will have a great experience!

First, OH MY GOD FINALLY YES! sending so much love to you Dinara! I've been feeling so depressed and trapped lately because of university applications and my family's financial situation. Had three essays to get done over the weekend, needless to say, did none of them. But you just make me put life into perspective by just, existing? Lol, literally you remind me how everything flows and I'll get where I need to be because the universe always works in our favor and there are no bad choices, just choices❤ oh also, the catcalling culture is sadly such a thing. I'm from Paraguay, in Ciudad del Este, which is right next to Brazil and Argentina at the triple border and oh god, it's awful. Men here openly stare, do all sorts of disgusting, deshumanazing facial expressions and even gestures, which is not only downright gross but also so, so, so humilliating. Even though I know I have nothing to be ashamed of. Also, the calling part is quite strong, they go from «love, babe» to again the most vomiting stuff. I refuse to look down when I walk, which is what sadly most girls and women instinctively do here. I tell myself I will walk as tall and straight as I can, with my chin so up my crown (had I had one) would fall. Then, if they stare, I stare back and shot them death stares. The thing is, some of them even find it arousing or challenging, it's just, awful. I'd figure Bs As would be slightly better, since it's the capital. I still remember your video where you said that in Seoul people just show so much respect, which manifested in 0 catcalling when you were there. It really inspired hope in me, but sadly South America and Paraguay are light years away from achieving that. I don't consider this place my home, but my birthplace is one of the most sexists, machistas countries you could think of. And it's worse because it is so deeply engrained in everything, that's when it's the most dangerous, insisidious and subtle. I think I'm going too far off track now, but I guess I'm trying to say that I'm sorry and that you're strong and emmanate such dignity, keep fighting back❤
P.s are you guys considering coming to the Iguazu Falls? If you are, I would be delighted to host you and show you guys around!❤

Hi Dinara and welcome! I hope you have a great time here in Argentina.
Yes, we kiss on the cheek to everyone, even if we go somewhere and there's people we don't know.
Public transportation is definetely cheap by tourists pov, my friend from Germany was surprised when she even found out that we have a "free" train in my city. For locals, sometimes paying 4 rides a day at 21,50 each trip (in my city) is really expensive considering most of them barely make 10.000 pesos a month.
The "sh" sound when speaking is mostly from the city of Buenos Aires, in other places we say "me llamo" instead of "sho me shamo". There is also a problem with double r's in several places of the country, they say "pero" instead of "perro" (dog).
Buenos Aires is great, so many free activities and a lot of cultural things to learn, I really enjoyed my time there.
Try a lot of ice creams if you like it, there's also vegan options and deliveries at night.

When you go out you will notice that most bathroom doors are broken lol and there won’t be paper or soap, so I recommend bringing your own in your purse when you go out. Most people leave the bathroom door open so you don’t have to ask if it’s ‘ocupado’ so get into the bathrooms that are open, or you can knock and they’ll answer ‘ocupado’

About the dancing thing, buenos aires has a lot of different ambients to dance, you can dance reaggeton and cumbia (what a lot of us call "cachengue" ) and, actually, theres a pretty wide scene of techno, i think we have one of the most important clubs in the whole latin america scene ! its pretty big here. (these are the most common rythms of the night in buenos aires today by today, off course there are a whole lot of things appart from that, tango, and a long etc but its more of popular music of the country, i mean, young people its not going to dance to that a saturday night, we have a big trap scene too, and hip hop in general).

Hi!Dinara. I have been watching your video for a long time and I love it so much especially when you share your life and opinions. Actually, I happened to find your vlog when I was searching for Minerva one year ago. I am very interested in Minerva and your school life. So I kept watching it and then became your fan. Your vlog is really nice and positive, and also helps us know more about this marvelous school. So I am writing to ask you if I can translate your vlog into Chinese and upload into “bilibili “ a video sharing app like TH-cam. Because I believe your vlog can help chinese students learn about Minerva and also let them see a broaden world like what is another way of education. I think it’s meaningful. Looking forward to hearing from you

Hi to you too. And welcome to my beatiful country. Hope you're having a great time so far, even tough the summer is kicking so hard and the temperature is almost 35°C some days. But you'll get used to it, trust me. I'm so glad you choose Buenos Aires to live. It's a beatiful city and I'm really proud of the place where I live. I really enjoyed your video and I would love to teach you some spanish words if you want to. So you can express yourself better and better everytime. But you're doing really good. "Mate" it's the most important thing here. And there's not a single place where the people is not driking mate. It makes us feel united and part of a big family. We even drink mate at school (college) and it's one of our best traditions besides eating asado on weekends. So overall, let's hope you enjoy every minute of this experience. You won't regret it. I wish you the best on this new chapter of your life and I'm sending you a big hug from here. Butaway, I'm from a city called Merlo, which is on the west side of Buenos Aires. Have a nice day, bye bye. xoxo

I live in Corrientes, Argentina and we don’t pronounce the sh, we pronounce it not like io but somewhere between that two
We usually knock the door and wait to someone say “ocupado” and if no one responds we can come in, and when you leave you usually leave the door open so people know there’s no one in there
The kiss in the cheek is not used by doctors only, for example if i’m walking in the street and i see a friend of mine i would go and give her/him a kiss
I hope you enjoy the stay in Argentina!
Also you should go to other provincias there’s so much different traditions, accents, foods, habits, etc.

That's nonsense about the corners. They are called "ochavas" and they became law in the late 1800's to facilitate people and transportation (carriages back then) to see around corners. BTW, Argentinians and Uruguayans don't speak Spanish per se, they speak "castellano".

Yeah, we pronunce the "LL" and the "Y" as a "SH". So, for example, you might say "maravilloso" (marvelous, wonderful) but we would pronunce it "maravishoso". Or "lluvia", we would pronunce it like "shuvia". And we also have different ways of saying some words. Like "tú" (you), we would say "vos". But unlike Spain Spanish, we wouldn't say "vosotros" (you, but in plural), we say "ustedes". It's kind of interesting to hear different ways of saying the same words in other countries who (or that, idk what it goes) speak the same language :D.
