In hindsight, not my favourite DM era. When the album came out, I was impressed. Walking In My Shoes is my all time favourite DM song, and I also love In Your Room, Rush, One Caress and Higher Love. However, if I never hear I Feel You again I won’t lose sleep, and I really dislike Condemnation and Get Right With Me. That last one is proof that just because AW is involved with something it doesn’t follow the results are going to be good. As for Mercy In You and Judas - average. So, its an album with a strong ending, a terrible cover, and Dave in a bad way. I hated seeing him like that. Normally, I don’t care what these people do to themselves. History is full of singers, actors, artists who have screwed up and ended up as basket cases. But Ive always liked Dave G. He strikes me as being a down to earth, funny man, and the smack addict + tattoos thing did not sit well with me at all. He sounded rough on the Devotional tour and his eventual OD was sadly no surprise. Thankfully he is a strong chap and he’s still here to sing to us. Ill end by saying this isn’t a bad album but give me A Broken Frame, Black Celebration, Masses, Ultra, Delta Machine and Memento Mori over SOFAD anyday.
