Thank you! I am 69 years old and I never had the opportunity to attend Seminary. I love your lessons. I have read the Book of Mormon many times through the years. Since the Church has come out with Come Follow Me and the Church videos along with your spiritual lessons I have gained a much deeper understanding and spiritual insight to the scriptures that I never thought possible. I love you and prayer often for you and your family. I am truly thankful for each you! May God continue to watch over you and bless you with the special insight and spiritual knowledge to help us to gain a greater understanding of Gods Love. 💝🤗

When my husband lost his job in 2008 and we did not have adequate employment for 10 years I felt God had forgotten us and we did not have any blessings. Often during that time I would not know, because I did not want to know, that this was something that we needed to go through and would be 'for our good'. Now, I can see the numerous blessings and lessons learned and attitudes developed over that time period that are crucial to our lives now. Thank goodness God loved us enough to put us through that, and loved me enough to be patient while I worked through it. It was not pretty on my part, but He stayed with me and I came out thankfully on the other side knowing the gospel is true, God loves us and will never abandon us even in our darkest time. Thanks for the reminder and all your hard work!

I needed to listen to this today. Been struggling on how to face children's needs and pulled this up. Which reminded me to listen to the spirit as I deal with the needs of my children.

YOU are my holy mentor! Alma 10:9. I am going through the hardest thing I have ever been through and studying with you is my balm of Gilead. You give me breath to breathe one more day! I see the hand of the Lord in my life, through you, each week. Thank you.

Does anyone else hear kids in the background near the end when they're talking about finding a holy mentor? I listened to this with headphones during naptime today when my big kids were all out playing and my babies were asleep and it freaked me out! I kept thinking one of them was up and crying for me, but then no one was! Please tell me someone else hears that, too, or else I have a bigger problem on my hands. 😂 Thank you for a fantastic video this week! I'm already planning a (simple) Thanksgiving dinner for Sunday so we can read all the gratitude papers! What fun ideas.

It helped me so much hearing someone talk about why God might favor one over the other. And, what favor looks like.I was just struggling with this yesterday.I'm a stay at home mom of four.I have been a mom since i was 17.I'm 27.I never got my GED or went to College. And, I just spent so much time yesterday thinking about like what the kids I grew up with had that I didn't that would make them complete High School and complete College. So,it's nice to hear someone talk out loud about what I'm thinking about.Thank You.

At night before prayer, we used to do this thing I called 5 happy things where we would write down in our notebooks 5 things that made us happy that day. That would give us things to thank God for in our prayers, and it helped each of us to be able watch for the blessings in our lives.

  • @rebekahanderson1825

I liked Emily’s comment about “favorite” grandchildren, because I faced the dilemma of how to make each child feel the total love that I have for them. But there is no way I could label one of them my favorite grandchild, especially when siblings or cousins are near. So I feel I was prompted to say it in a different way: “You are my favorite Abbie!” “You are my favorite Corey!” etc. Their smiles tell me that they truly feel that they are my favorite.

    • @jeternalj23
      @jeternalj23 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Something President Dallin H. Oaks does as be also has many grandchildren is he picks one each month to focus on. He places their picture where he can see it everyday and will write and send them a letter about all the things he loves about them. I love that!

I love you both so much! This was one of my favorite lessons. My take away is "highly GRACED" instead of highly favored which I interpreted to mean favorite and I didn't think I was anybody's favorite, let alone God's. But I have no doubt I have been highly blessed/graced.
Also! The patriarchal blessing story! "You are one of God's favorites and He has never been mad at you." I immediately added that to my patriarchal blessing! I, too, lead I rough life in my 20-30s and some of those mistakes still haunt me, though I've been active in the church for about 30 years. I always thought God was mad at me so these words were so healing. I felt like crying. Thank you, thank you a thousand times. Oh, and thank you for making me laugh so hard. That's one of the reasons I watch more than once. Thank you for listening to the Spirit. Thank you for being my spiritual mentors.
P.S. Dearest David, won't you just unbutton the top button on your shirts? It would look better. Haha

this week I studied President Nelson's message about locking arms for racial harmony with NAACP. Love God and love your neighbor and in a way to help and learn to value the differences. i thought about the lesson this week and about Alma and Amulek and the challenges they faced. it's not easy but we will be blessed if we repent and lift out brothers everywhere. Listen to our Prophet as we learn to use the Book of Mormon in our lives today. (Sorry for my typing.....my stroke makes it difficult but my mind is strong and my faith Jesus Christ is a blessing.)

Loved the "we didn't eat the children" part! When I started subbing for elementary school, I got pretty discouraged after my first couple of times until a teacher friend of mine told me, "the goal is just to keep them alive; if they learn anything: bonus!" 😁 It got better of course, but sometimes as a teacher or parent, those are words to live by! Lol!

I found a way to slow down my to do this and that thinking in my brain at rest time... Practice memorizing the articles of faith. I usually go into a calm sleep by number 7, whether I start at 1 or 13😯😃 I've got to the point over the years that I start giving myself a lecture about all I've learned over 5 decades on what I love about each article of Faith. This faith over fear has really empowered my body and spirit to be able to overcome stress💕

I have always really liked Alma 12:32 as well, because it shows how God gave the "Why" and THEN gave the commandments. In parenting or leadership of any sort, it can be helpful to explain the reason (the "Why") we ask our children or others to do certain things because it provides a vision for them as they move forward.

The One! I love that phrase. In Alma 9:6. God doesn’t need an army. God can work miracles with just one.... Joseph Smith. Alma’s father. He just needs us to be the One. The one to speak peace in this chaos. The one to smile at those stressed and hurting. The one to be there for a friend. The one to be available for a wounded heart. He is asking all of us to be The One! In our circle of life.
Love you guy. Thank you. I appreciate what you have done for my family. Thank you for being the One.

Sometimes they are listening but not looking as if they care but they hold the information and use it when needed in their life so don't give up, don't be too hard on yourself. We are not Jesus Christ and not everyone believed His teachings, even though for their own good to do so. Poor David, I offer you respite in Australia, haha. Just love them is enough sometimes.

God's capacity to love, reminds me of little Claire Ryan, I think her name is, sang and asked President Nelson something like is she special and President Nelson said everyone is special to God. There was more to it.

They film in Emily's basement, so it is most likely her grandchildren visiting. I love hearing their little voices in the background :)

Guys. I seriously LOVE you and your insights and videos and enthusiasm for the gospel! I look forward to watching every single week. However, I had to stop this video because my anxiety and sensory overload couldn't handle the Baby Shark playing in the background. 😆 I don't know how you kept straight faces and kept going with a gospel conversation. I seriously couldn't even focus on what you were saying. So props to you guys. 👏 Maybe tell the kiddos to turn down the music a little next time. 😉

Comparison is the thief of joy. Focus on what you have, not what you don't. Amulek gets vulnerable in telling his conversion story, very powerful. I was like you, and I changed, so can you.

I finally "get it"... the Highly Favored thing! Sometimes one of my boys would accuse me of "favoring" one of them over another... I would always say: But Connor is my favorite Connor, but YOU Shane, are my favorite Shane... or Brian is my favorite Brian and Brandon is my favorite Brandon... and I'm not lying!!! There is no other Shane who is my favorite or Brian who is my favorite or Brandon who is my favorite or Connor who is my favorite... I KNOW I am now highly favored for being ME! Because God does not have another ME, so I literally am HIS favorite!!

I had a little connection thought...That Amulek was able to accept Alma into his home and life and how Alma ended up blessing his family and home. Picture us accepting the Prophet into our homes and families, and what the blessings of that may be like!

Hi Kathieanne - the weekly study sheets are bound together in one book called the “Don’t Miss This Study Guide”, which is available at Deseret Book. There is also a devotional book which highlights one verse from each chapter. Both are excellent!

The promise of the windows of Heaven being opened if one pays their tithes has nothing to do with wealth and everything to do with the mysteries of God. Teenagers pay your tithing and you will be amazed at how much better you will be prepared for your missions.

As I read this study point something very real occurred to me. Think of the Saviors life. No He never gave up but he was spit upon and was teased and tainted as was Alma but more severe. And did not Heavenly Father send an angel to give him strength too in the Garden of Gethsemane? I’m sure that the weight of all sins, sadness, illnesses, and more weighed Him down to something we can’t comprehend. Alma is feeling like he failed. That would be something that Christ paid for through the Atonement. I see many parallels here from a servant of the Lord to Jesus Christ as well.

Why do you think that the people of the city of Ammonihah were not prosecuted according to the law after they killed so many people on the basis of their faith? We see the judges stepping in other places to keep the peace and enforce the law, like when Gideon was killed. Do you think that the people of Ammonihah were destroyed by the Lamanites within such a short time frame that the justice system simply couldn't deal with the scale of the atrocity before the city was gone?

You need to repent of your sins and accept Jesus as Savior and Lord!! Works dont earn salvation. It is a gift. You also dont become an angel or god when you die. Think about it and search the Scriptures.
