    Hi, is there a reason why kiteboarder doesn't go very far from shore, unlike sailing?

    • @GeorgesR3452
      @GeorgesR3452 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We usually don’t kite farther than we can swim back unless we’re in groups

    • @FlukesKitesurfing
      @FlukesKitesurfing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey 7madness, yes, exactly as Inklizian explains, unlike Sailing, if the wind drops you can't just float around comfortably in your boat, that's why you should never kite further out than you feel you can swim back to the beach in the event you lose your kite or hurt yourself etc

    Great video, thanks! I’ve been trying this for a while but find it difficult to let go with my back hand, which, the way I’m going, is my right ( and stronger) hand. So leaving my less able hand forward and alone on the bar seems quite difficult and unnatural. What I wanted to ask is if there’s a way this can work without the back hand letting go? I have landed a few of these jumps like that, but am having difficulty with landings (too hard) or travel time (too short), but was thinking eventually I’ll pull it off…

    • @FlukesKitesurfing
      @FlukesKitesurfing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Dirk, yeah you can do both hands... but its harder and closes off your body, but it is possible. for other jumps like the board off i leave both hands on the bar while going up into the air for instance. that said, for thei air, I'd suggest just trying a few without the backhand until you get used to it. It will help in the long run :)

    • @dlangpap
      @dlangpap ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FlukesKitesurfing Cheers! Yeah, have been trying some letting go of the backhand and that seems to be helping.

    Aloha Luke! What percentage of your air comes from your speed/pop from the board, and what percentage comes from sheeting in/using the power of the kite?

    • @FlukesKitesurfing
      @FlukesKitesurfing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Chris, a lot of it depends on the wind speed. with high wind it is possible to start the jump slowly, as the high wind will; a. allow the kite to easily lift you up . b. hold the board on your feet. that would be over 80% kite. But in low wind, most of the jump comes from your generated speed to pop and hold the board on your feet with apparent wind. that would be over 80% technique. The best way to learn and do bigger jumps it is to do a combo of both. Get in strong wind, go really fast and pop up hard. Hope that helps :)

    • @bramelhaus_
      @bramelhaus_ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FlukesKitesurfing that helps a lot, thanks so much!! My hardest challenge so far has been getting pulled up and off my board - I think I might be using too much kite on the lighter wind days, and will try to generate more speed and pop on my own as you suggest. I think I could also experiment with coming off the wind a bit just before my pop so I don't get disconnected with from my board if I catch a gust. I appreciate you getting back to me and all of your great videos I have seen. If you are ever on Maui, hit me up. Aloha!!

    Hi Luke. Just another basic question .. when riding a TT - just before load and pop - how do you sail compared to the wind .. a litte off / downwind of 90” to the wind? Across the wind 90”? or a liite upwind of 90”?

    • @FlukesKitesurfing
      @FlukesKitesurfing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Lars, the load and pop is much the same with a Twintip. before launch you "a little off" and then "a little upwind" then release your rail and sheet in and you'll get a great load and pop jump. to understand, tending off a bit will let you increase speed, then carving upwind a bit will let you tension up the lines and sling you into the air.

    What vest do you wear for floatation

    • @FlukesKitesurfing
      @FlukesKitesurfing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should wear one that fits you best. (try them on a shop) they all fit slightly differently. I was wearing an ION one. :)
