    The student in me wishes I’d had you as a teacher. The teacher in me wishes I could have you as a colleague. I’m grateful you make these videos. Excellent teacher support, thank you 🙏

    This video is so helpful. I taught elementary for 18 years and this is my first year at the middle school (love it, btw) I have wondered how to handle comments from students such as, “It wasn’t me or I didn’t do anything.” Now I know to say, “We need to keep moving with this lesson for success. Please sit down. You can make an appointment with me to follow up.” This response is gold. It also (unknowingly) follows the Boys Town model. I just never thought to use it in this way. Thank you.

    Hello, new subscriber here. I’m a Canadian teaching English in southern Shikoku, Japan. I’m just starting teaching Junior/Senior High-School English starting next week. I really like your approach and philosophy on helping students become the best version of themselves. I had already decided my purpose is not only to help students learn the subject matter, but help them become leaders vs. followers and become the best they can be.

    This was extremely helpful. I absolutely loved your book and now plan on reading it again, before I start student teaching in 6th grade in January. Thank you very much.

    This is an excellent video with excellent classroom management advice. I agree with you remembering one size isn't always fit all, avoiding public shaming, waiting until after lessons for certain conversations, and not sweating little issues are great classroom management strategies.
    Classroom management is one of those things where sometimes it can be easy, and sometimes it can very difficult. No one is perfect at classroom management. It takes reading articles about classroom management, watching videos about classroom management, attending professional development seminars on classroom management, trial and error, classroom experience, practice, learning from classroom management mistakes you've made, etc to get good at classroom management.
    Keep up the great work with your videos. I wish you the best.

    1. Public Shaming (Be the bigger person)
    2. One size fits all model (Get to know your students)
    3. Conversation (Have it after class)
    4. Sweating the small stuff (Just let it go)

    Reynolds, You are an impactful person. Did you ever consider going into administration?

    • @CJReynolds
      @CJReynolds  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No. Administrative physicians always seemed like they took you away from students. And although you could affect the policy and change and that capacity, I always wanted to be in the classroom. in this new role that I am living, it has taken me away from students, but I find that the change I can create is so much greater and immediately affect students lives through their teachers

    I wish you would go back to teaching. What about charter schools

      I’ve only ever taught in charter schools. It’s hard to explain completely, but this is the work I’ve been given to do in this next season of my life

      Sorry to hear that. What issues are you struggling with? If it helps we do a live feed on Sundays at 4pm EST. I’d be happy to answer any question you have.
