I just picked one of these up and the Velcro straps are too long. Can't get a wrap on a normal tube. I wonder if they've changed the strap length for e-bikes.
So, it's not actually the tailgate itself, but the top of the tailgate. If you take a look at newer trucks, Ford F150, Toyota Tundra, Dodge's etc, you'll notice the top of the tailgate can go from being 2inches thick at the edges to 6-inches thick at the center.
@@TheLoamWolf Everybody keeps talking about new Fords and Dodges, but the '04 Silverado I just picked up has some curve on the tailgate cap. So confusing as to which pad I will need. (I think the old GMT800s had a non curved cap that I might be able to install, though.)
Unless your Silverado has a crazy different aftermarket cap, a standard, non-curved pad will work for your tailgate. If your tailgate had 8-10inch bulge (on top/cap area) like the dodges and ford's, then you would go curved.
@@TheLoamWolf I have a 2017 Ridgeline and I am asking myself if it need a small curved or a small "normal one". Do you have the information for that? Thanks!
Had mine (non curved) for a couple months before it started to fall apart. Been working trying to get it exchanged since January with no luck. DaKine products are cool but their warranty/customer service is horrible in my experience 👎🏽

A pickup loading with bikes always looks so cool!
It really is!
I've used Dakine products and am a big fan. They do put a lot of thought in their products

You keep referring to "curved" tailgates
What is a curved tailgate vs a non curved one?

@@TheLoamWolf oooooooo
I understand, and that totally makes sense why it would require a different design
