In the Apuan Alps in Tuscany, Paolo Carli's quarrymen are preparing to face a new mining season. But the past year was a very difficult one for the marble industry.
The economic crisis generated by Covid and a terribly harsh winter created numerous problems in managing the quarries.
Paolo deploys all his entrepreneurial resources and pushes his men and women to give their best. The reputation for Italian excellence is at stake, as well as the continuation of a centuries-old tradition and the very survival of a business upon which the economic well-being of the entire territory depends.
In this episode:
At the Henraux quarries, Michele, Mario and Luca must identify the best qualities of marble in order to satisfy the requests of Paolo Carli who grapples with a large order from New York. But the harsh winter has made resuming operations more difficult. The Catino quarry was hardest hit and has been closed for safety repairs, which has forced Luca to move to another smaller quarry. Cava Piastrone, run by Mario, has been slowed down by the transformation process from an open-air to a tunnel quarry, which means production capacity is zero.
Everything is now on the shoulders of the indefatigable Michele and his Russia quarry, the largest and most important on Mount Altissimo, which has survived the winter and is still fully functional. But the material isn’t enough and Paolo Carli must once again resort to risky solutions..

This place is crazg the alps in this region of italy are massive, and the natural tunnels carved out from the great flood are massive. This quarry looks so dangerous, and a 500 hp front loader picking up massive boulders seems a bit under powered. I always laugh when the narrator act's like a machine is so powerful, and then they try to make drama out of it. G-d bless everyone.
