I enjoy a good steak as much as the next guy, but I've developed a soft spot for a perfectly cooked pork chop from the cast iron skillet. When it's cooked *just* right it's amazing. Something about that subtle pork flavor and flavor form the pan-searing when it's nice and juicy that just hits right. I was working through a bottle of South African Shiraz this week when we decided on some pork and I liked it more-than-fine together.👍🍷❤
Another great video Agnes and your suggestions are great. For some more wallet friendly options I would recommend a premium Bikaver (Bulls Blood )from either Eger or Szekszard in Hungary, a Hungarian Siller, (which is bit like a Tavel or Bandol rose), Spanish Bobal, South African Pinotage, and Cotes du Rhone Villages from a named village.
Yes! I had a Bikaver in a restaurant in Hungary. It was wonderful, so balanced and full of finesse. It was an experience seeing the sommelier doing a few slow rotations with the decanter instead of quick swirls.
Agnese ... Great work as always. I love a rich Chardy with crunchy acid and mild tannics with simple BBQ meats ...especially on a hot Aussie summers day :)
I can attest to the wonderful pairing of venison loins grilled to perfection with hearty red wines. Many wines work with this but my favorite style is a riper, richer Cabernet Franc based wine. And if you marinate the loins in a red wine sauce for a few hours it will tame the gaminess of your cut of meat. My perfect choice of sauce with the steak is a homemade horseradish and garlic sauce.
You presented this so very well! For many of your fans it would had been complete if you had included California Cabs and Red Blends, which bless/compliment our Porterhouses, T-Bones, New York Strips, Cowboy Cuts and a bevy of great steaks every day in every city and town here in the States. I’ll take a Chapellett Hideaway, or a Kamen Kashmir with my steak any day. We also love many Argentinian Malbecs that suffice just fine with or without a steak.
I was, of course thinking about including California red! You even see one at the beginning from one of my steak evenings with family. But I was also trying to balance wines price wise, as well as adding something new and not traditional. Maybe next time I should do more than just 5 wines for pairings! 💁♀️ Thank You for the comment. And cheers! 🍷✨
Great video! Love the work you're doing. These are all great pairings. I've found one unusual pairing that works well with steak; Condrieu! It's a good option if you or your dining partner doesn't want red wine. Keep up the great work!
Thank You. And ‘wow’ I have never tried Condrieu with steak, and now I am curious. Will try to taste it this season! Thank You for the tip! 🥂 Cheers! ✨
Don’t worry, I was never trying to hide it’ 😅 Champagne works with almost every food, there should be video on the best Champagnes to pair with steaks! 😉🤤
Definitely agree with #1 on your list, but after a BBQ at a family member’s house my new favorite for pairing with steak is Yalumba “The Caley”. It’s a Shiraz/Cabernet blend from Australia that was an amazing match with our Tri-tips 😊.
If the steak is cooked over open fire, it will naturally have smoky character, therefore I see no reason why not. We Latvians smoke everything You can imagine- and when pairing with smoked food, I would avoid overly oaked wines. Smokiness in wine and smokiness in food can be too much and cause bitter flavours. 🍷🥩 Cheers!
What no Chianti? Should try Brunello with steak. Also like Syrah/Shiraz with steak. Have had Merlot with steak and it was good. Also, Malbec goes good as does Carmenere.
yeap, aged saint julien and brunello are unbeatable for pairing with steak, malbec is too fruity, in my opinion. orange wine I cant comment. looks like Barolo is out!
@@NoSediment yes. love that chilled beer , but only artesanal and very black, which are very hard to find in Spain :-( in your opinion artesanal beer industry is growing in Europe or not at all? regards
Argentinian Malbec and Australian Shiraz my favourite pairings with a well marbled medium rare steak .... had my first Tignanello with a Bistecca at a steakhouse in Florence....one of my most memorable meals
Getting ready for a bartending interview and steak Malbec Steak Malbec is going to stick in my head. Thank you so much for that.
That is so great to hear! 🙌🙌🙌
I’m all about number 2 here… Syrah and a blue rare steak is EXCEPTIONAL!!! Good call on tannic orange wine too, esp Ribolla or Rkatsiteli.
Thank You! 🙌🙌🙌 Yes, surprisingly great wines for a steaks! 🥩

I agree, but unfortunately it is very difficult (at least I haven’t mastered it yet) to get it juicy. 🤦♀️
Another great video Agnese.
All of your choices work really well.
Orange wine and steak, gotta give it a try.
Love your videos
Please do, it is a great pairing indeed’ 🤫
I really enjoy your videos… I love your canine helper, your knowledge, and your presentation! To top it off, you are adorable!
Quite a combination!
Thank You very much. It was so great to read. It also means a lot to me that people enjoy my videos and catch the vibe. 🙏🏻 Cheers! 🍷✨

I don’t know what was so inviting in Your comment, but I was reading it, picturing it and my mouth filled with saliva. 🤤🤤🤤
I really enjoyed your video. It's nice to see Malbec get the lead nod. It's a wine that I find is under appreciated where I live in the US.
Thank You! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 🍷 Malbec is my first choice when I think of steak!

Will try Syrah. Thank you for the great videos
Thank You for the comment and the support! 🙏🏻 I hope You enjoy Syrah a lot! 🍷
Malbec and Tempranillo are Fantastic with grilled steaks…especially if you use charcoals
Yes, agree! Great wines that can lift the experience way above the simple enjoyment of the food! 🍷

Vino Nobile is one of my choices for steak Florentine. It has the nice high acidity and softer tannins than Brunello to help compliment the steak.
It makes sense, it is not that far away from Montalcino! 🍷 Cheers! ✨🥂
Well presented and very educational.
Thank You! 🙏🏻🍷
I'd like to add Tannat from Uruguay
Great addition! 💯💯💯

The mouse is too eye catching😂 nice video and great choices!! Where is Champagne 😋😋😋😜😜😜
Don’t worry, I was never trying to hide it’ 😅 Champagne works with almost every food, there should be video on the best Champagnes to pair with steaks! 😉🤤
Amber wine would also do magic with slightly spicy or asian version of a stake, where red wines would get intense and not pleasant 😊
Great note, as long as the alcohol is not too high! Thank You’ 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

As another Aussie I second that recommendation !
Steak! Torbreck RunRig with medium rare porterhouse
Could you also make a video about raw beef (steak tartare, carpaccio)?
Yes, sure. I will keep this is mind for the videos to come. They only take a bit more time, as I also like to do the cooking. 😅
Nice video!
Thank You’ 🙏🏻
Champagne also would go well with all the steak. 🥂
Well.. Champagne goes well with almost everything and lifts every meal to another level! 🥂☺️🍾😉🤫
Hi Agnes, great video… Do you think these pairings also apply to American-style smoked meat? greetings.

@@NoSediment Excellent, your answer has helped me a lot. I will try to pair it with some younger wines. greetings
Great vid and suggestions. Can't go wrong with a great steak (Filet Mignon - medium rare) and for me a Zinfandel or Zin Blend. Salud!
Zinfandel a definitely great choice for steak, agree 💯! 🙌
“DELICIOUS” show!!!
Many thanks for your effort to put together a hi quality video… entertaining… informative… TASTY.
Thank You for such a great and supportive comment! 🙏🏻🍾

It seems that every red wine actually goes quite well with steak! 🥩 good!
Steak with some fat grilled on a barbecue could also be accomponied by a rioja, tempranillo. Try it!
I agree! 🙌🙌🙌 But for me Rioja has always been the best wine for lamb! 🤤🤤🤤
You really should try a grilled steak with a white Burgundy.... game-changer..
I have never, must try this summer’ 🙌🙌🙌
@@NoSediment Twas a great recommendation to me, by a master somm.
Great Video. Btw I've always wanted to ask but I keep forgetting, what's the dog's name and what's the breed?😅

needless to say anything else 😅
