*WOW: A SIREN Shirt in 2023!!! You're killing me, Dave! That anybody outside of Germany could remember this great band from Florida surprises me very much!!*
I doubt, that even Brendon Snyder knows them... as the two records back in the 80ies were only released here on smaller labels...
But "A Mercenary's Fate" is a killer record after such a looooong time!!!

Record store owners need to get together across the country and boycott selling records that charge too much (wholesale) for their records. Start with a letter to them. If you stood together, wholesalers would have to reduce their prices, because the USA market is huge.

Touring bands charge you way less for the same merchandise overseas. In Mexico city, Depeche Mode was charging $35 for the same freakin t shirt I wanted on their show here in Texas. They do that because outside the venue in Mexico, the streets were flooded with counterfit merch with same or better quality than the originals for half price. We need that here in the U.S.

The concert merch is partially due to Live Nation and the venue taking a huge cut. I watched a video of a tour manager breaking down the cuts that are taken for each show and its absurd. The band makes a tiny fraction of all the money thats made off their merch

I have little idea about disposable incomes for people in the states or anywhere else but buying/collecting physical media from my pov is a luxury. Perfectly possible to be a fan and listen to every release by streaming.

    • @andrewmachado6988
      @andrewmachado6988 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

You’re 100% correct with how prices are going. It is quickly become a luxury owning physical music. I live in Canada, CDs are now costing 20,30,40+ dollars for a brand new single CD. Vinyls are even more, close to $100. It’s ridiculous.
As much as I love buying CDs, I stream most of my stuff now because I just can’t justify paying those prices anymore. Especially not in this economy with inflation and prices for life essentials (food, bills, gas for the car, etc).

The other part of concert & touring is the meet n greet, status/fan club packages for shows….remember when we could have the artist sign stuff for free w/ free meet n greets…..pre-Internet. Now do tue E-Bay & the Internet, autograph seekers get autographs and then sell them online for X-hundreds of dollars the artists don’t see any any $$$.

Every single Lp $19.98 double LP $23.98 , that would catch my attention now days. Guess we need to time travel . Wake me up when we get there. I have some LP’s for the late 70’s with price stickers of 4.98, as a matter of Fact I believe one was Gold Earring To the Hilt. I remember when cds first came out and they where so expensive I could only afford a very small collection. I’ll pay $2 all day long for used cd’s now.

I actually like it when a band continues with a member of their family (cousin, younger brother, son, daughter,...), because how closer to the root can you get? They might not have the experience but they were actually born and raised (probably) by the band. So yes, it feels right to me.
Tribute bands are not my thing but if this is the only way people are gonna be able to enjoy Live music when all of our heroes are dead, then so be it. I think it doesn't make sense now because original musicians are still there but in a 100 years they won't, so maybe Rock music will be like Classical music played by new generations of people.
    Cheers.

Whoever is telling our favorite bands/artists to raise the prices of their CDs/vinyl does not care about the fans! All they care about is taking away our money, but their greed is hurting the music industry even more. New fans and music collectors want to purchase albums by their favorite bands, but they can't afford the insane prices, so they turn to streaming services instead. Because less people are buying physical media, artists get most of their income from touring and merchandise, which is why I had to pay $50 for a Queen + Adam Lambert shirt when I saw them live last month.

I’m super grateful for the fact that my local has a couch, because I have a heart condition and can’t stand that long, and the guy often chats to me about music and records and recommends me stuff. Then again, I’m a regular and spend all my disposable income in his store 😅
As for the record industry- greedy, rich fucks can’t get their heads around the fact t that people can’t find $40. They just can’t grasp it. To them it’s nothing. They figure if you love you band then you can find the money. They are really that out of touch.
Plus tbh a lot of them want physical media to die. They want the stores to go under. They want collectors like me to go away.
They want to run everything through an algorithm that mixes it automatically, stick some zero effort artwork on the front, bung it on Spotify, do literally nothing else, pay the artists nothing, and continuously and permanently remove older and less popular stuff from streaming services and just funnel everyone into whatever the latest artist, rapper or band is
I honestly think that’s what they want
And shops and collectors, to them, are just getting in the way
Maybe I’m wrong. I truly hope I am

Why are record labels still making exclusive deals with Target? Last time I looked, Target stocked about 8 titles. There's no way Target deserves any kind of exclusive release with additional tracks. Instead, labels should be looking to reward independent stores and providing them with titles with bonus tracks. If you haul your butt into a store that actually knows something about music, you should get rewarded with something extra. I'm sure that was the original intention behind RSD, but it seems like it's morphed into something else.

Same goes for CDs (see below) A single CD in a Jewel case shouldn't cost me more than $10, and a CD/DVD or CD/CD digipak no more than $16, and CD/CD/DVD no than $20. I don't give a sh-t what's on there. And EP's half price, if the artist is lazy to create 12 good tracks of music. Artists like Neil Young who slap 12 tracks on a disk and sell it when there is one or two good tracks on it is bullshit. Or these European bands who sell there music for 26 bucks and then we get screwed even more due to the currency rate exchange like Moon Safari Vol 2, or fail to produce enough stock like Cats in Space, then, can't deliver it in two weeks or less. Am I pissed off enough?

As for the KISS avatar, I wish they’d take this opportunity to make some new music and include everyone from all eras in this experiment. You could have the non-makeup era avatars as well as the makeup era avatars. KISS could make some new music that fits both eras without people being creeped out by old guys singing songs they shouldn’t be singing as older men, because the age appropriate avatars are the ones singing. Honestly, if done right, Paul and Gene could even work out deals with Ace and Peter for licensing their avatar images and contracting for new music from those guys as well as Vinnie Vincent or Bruce. I could see people picking a show from the KISS era they loved with a few new songs included in the avatar set list. Hell, I would go see that at a movie theater or small arena with other KISS fans.

I'm with Anthony on Skid Row. There's definitely bands who changed singers and carried on, in some cases better than before (AC/DC, Helloween, Savatage, Amorphis come to mind) but imo the Skids aren't one of them. Vocalists are probably the toughest, changeable component of the band equation to get right.
