Underrated...Paul Dempsey??? Whoa. He is up there with Cave and Kelly for songwriting AND performing, never leaves anything in the studio or stage..And that song is an absolute corker. Middle Kids are the real deal. Love LAV!

I can't believe the number of people saying he's underrated! Ask anyone in the music industry (who's opinion is worth anything) and they would all rate him up there with the best we've ever produced. Commercial radio airtime does not equal success or recognition.

I have always enjoyed this like a version. But after hearing the story this morning about how quickly Paul Dempsey put it together with only 24hrs notice after someone pulled out it makes me respect his talent and this cover even more.

urbanphil0s0phy yeah the thing I heard on triple j was that they had booked someone else to appear for like a version. But they pulled out due to the lead singer because of illness. So they called Paul up with 24 hrs notice and he said he would put something together and came up with this.
Major under appreciated talent if you ask me.

He's got such a beautiful tone of his voice, there so many technically sound vocalists out there but having that timbre of voice, both strong and emotional is a gift, I didn't know him before and I'm not very clued up on his repertoire but I have to say he's incredibly talented
Check out his solo album "everything is true" or his band Something for Kate. Because on top of his voice and technical prowess his songwriting is brilliant. He's also a joy to see live. I remember how wonderful it was discovering his music for the first time. I'm so glad I did. Enjoy!

When Paul sings a song, he invests ALL of himself into that song. There's no half-way, it's full-bore or it's nothing. He works at a different level of mastery of his art and I'm always in awe of his performances.
I’m not sure I agree with all the comments that ‘Paul is so underrated’ - he is a very unique and serious talent. He chooses to keep a low profile. Those that know the amazing brilliance choose to seek him out 👌

This is such a heavy song for me hits hard. My best friend died in 2015 and I had sever deppression and anxiety from it. I remember years later I was at tipping point I was sick nearly every day I lost 10 kgs lost my direction in life. My wife got me to talk to someone. I left early to see my counciler for the first time. Took a long drive along the coast and this cover came on. It hit so hard I had to stop never has a songs lyrics got me like this song. It was my first steps to getting my life together. Whenever I put this song on it transports me back to that day to that drive on the coast. ✌❤ If you need help believe me it can be found and in many ways.

Listening to Something For Kate in the 90s I used to think Paul Dempsey had one of the best male voices I'd ever heard. Last time I listened to them was on a CD in 2004. Then I head this playing on Triple J yesterday and I thought to myself "could it be him?'. Googled some lyries and yep, it's Paul. I love coming across new artists, but it's good to reunite with old favourites who - for whatever reason - have not been part of your life for a while.
One of the best covers, definitely worthy of a triple j like a version, which should be deemed as the highest honor for any musician.
