I'm going to dive a little deeper into this in tomorrow's live stream... so tune in if you want more detailed explanations and to see some other cool tricks!
I like the 'talking head' without the circle. so you have just taken out the background? Would that only work for video, not graphics or photos? I imagine there must be a depth of field aspect to make it work?
The Background Removal tool works on both video and still images. Here's my video on how I remove the background from my videos: th-cam.com/video/eDT9iiEVX4M/w-d-xo.html And yes, it definitely works better if you're using a camera lens that keeps you in focus while blurring out the background. If you don't have that, then using a green screen and then the "Remove a Color" effect in Camtasia is the way to go :)
Great tutorial! Thanks Rob! I'm currently using Camtasia 2021. The 2nd easy way to add an outline was to use the Border visual effect. But I don't see the "use alpha" option... is it because my Camtasia version is older?
Yes I believe that's correct... The "Use Alpha" option is relatively new... I'm not sure if it came out in 2022 or 2023... so you may need to upgrade or sign up for the Maintenance Plan to update to the latest version if you want to be able to do that. I hope that helps :-)
Excellent videos Rob. I have a question: At home I use the Mac version ... do you know how I can add or install the Apple default colour theme? I only seem to have the default not so fresh Camtasia colours.
I'm not sure I follow. I also use Camtasia for Mac and I've never installed any additional colors... the Apple colors are there automatically. I'm not sure why they wouldn't be available for you?
I don't know myself why it isn't there, but it is ok. Well I downloaded some free themes from the Techsmith site, and they are ok-ish. I also created my own. I mostly use the pc version in my office, and the one at home is mostly for fun. Fun, which just becomes funnier with the help of your videos.
This was a great tip, but now one needs to wonder how long Camtasia takes to realize they need to supply automatic captions and😊 the ability to do what you did in one or two clicks. I have started exporting my finished videos to CapCut and using that for captioning my videos. Would be easier if I could it all in Camtaisa.
Yes it certainly would be easier to handle that from within Camtasia! I'm not sure if it's on their radar or not... I hope it is... but it is somewhat outside their lane (their lane mainly being tutorial, demo or presentation videos). Fingers crossed for the 2024 release ;-)
You add an animation first, then in the Properties for the ENDING animation (right side of animation arrow), change the Y rotation to 180. That will flip any image or object, including the background-removed image of oneself :-)

I've added soooooo much info to my videos, in the last few weeks that you've been back!
That's awesome!
Thanks Rob. I always wondered how, if it was even possible, to outline text in Camtasia. Because of your video, now I know.
I will be doing this on my future projects.
Awesome! Glad it helped :-)
as always, a great tip i can apply to my projects 👏Thanks Rob!
Great! Glad you found it useful :-)
Awesome illustration on this technique Rob!
Thanks, I hope it helped! :)

Nice❤
What stage size did you set for the phone video?
1080 wide by 1920 high :)

How do you make your 'self' in the corner, flip to the other side?

capcut is way ahead
