Making the biggest play of my high school career. Only to find out my grandfather passed due to surgery complications before the game started. Since that day I carry a Cubs keychain he got me in back pocket to every baseball game

Plus, he would’ve gotten pretty much the same in Atlanta cause the Braves gave their stars discount contracts as well which are better deals in my opinions.
From what I understand he would have taken a home town discount, but the cubs were paying him so much, the braves could make a reasonable offer. So that may have been part of the reason, but I think the difference was money TBH

thats what i called my grandfather. he also died in a senior living home. i couldn't help but cry. Dansby is one of my favorite players and my grandpa did everything in his power to come see me play. But now going into my last season of U ball (im in 14U) it will be hard to look over to the fence and not see him there.

The emergence of Vaughn Grissom was why he wasn’t offered a long term contract like the other core players. Grissom put up the same numbers as Dan when he first came up.
