@@DOSFrost Yeah, all the characters have the same animations, regardless of weight and height. They really need to consider overall size differences, adjust them accordingly to fit them better. If it’s someone on the side of Marie Rose, make them feel lighter and more malleable. If it’s someone like Bass, make their reactions more stiff and heavier. If a small character fights a big character, make the small characters’ hits feel soft and minimal, and the big characters’ hits EXTREMELY impactful and punishing. A middleweight or two characters of the same weight should have the default reaction animations. Like WWE2K. Just a thought, sorry if it’s so long.
DOA movesets is much more realistic and more impactful than other franchises which came from Virtua fighter with added more movesets. Remember these games (Tekken,DOA) actually successful clones from og Virtua Fighter.
They left out Sarah who also uses the same art as her Brother Jacky which is Jeet Kune Do. She's the first and only female of fighting games to use that style.
Is it a Sega issue though? Or a Namco issue actually not wanting to use VF? Because VF showed up in DOA5 for example. But TK7 preferred to go after 2d fgs, Final Fantasy and Walking Dead, turning an eye to other 3d fg.
Hope there’s more of this. I love seeing how these different characters with similar martial arts compare. It’d be cool if you also added 2D fighters, but I’m not sure how it’d work out.
This kind of comparison is meaningless for 2d fgs. Only 3d fgs are concerned with reproducing martial arts with realistic movement as a general rule. That has never been in the core design of 2d fgs. They are more like gimmicky martial arts I'd say, because of the stylish animation techniques - which are not meant to be realistic as default, unlike 3d fgs, only in the exact instances that's desired by the dev. (I guess the only exception is MK because it literally started with real person movements, then later used 3d with mocap)

Obviously he's not the main character but Sagat from street fighter uses Muay Thai
@@taylorcorbett8848 Main Original Bad Guy.
Guess it counts.
@@taylorcorbett8848 i mean like, an idea of original original fighting game with a different title and different OC trains with either muay thai or kenpo
i made my own fighting game concept OCs on deviantart where my character is a kenpo fighter and his rival and final boss is either kickboxer or mma
street fighter's ryu trains karate, judo and kenpo(ansatsuken)
tekken's jin trains kyokushin(formerly mishima fighting karate)
mk's liu kang trains jeet kune do and shaolin kung fu
fatal fury's terry trains street brawling, ninjutsu and boxing
art of fighting's ryo trains kyokugen ryu karate(based off okinawan goju kai karate)
king of fighters' kyo trains Kusanagi ryu ancient Kenpo(based off Traditional Okinawan Kenpo, Karate and Kung Fu)
Virtua Fighter's Akira trains Bajiquan Kung Fu, mixed with Karate
Dead or alive's kasumi trains ninjutsu and taijutsu
the rest of the other fighting games are unrealistically generic but they don't count.
If you count lars from tekken 6 as a main character (literal protagonist) there you have it this guy use kenpo(very weird one)
02:06 That was wonderful.
VF most realistic.
DOA best and fun looking.
Very cool video 👍
the more I see clips of doa the more I want to play it
You definitely should play doa especially 5 Last round it teaches you everything you need to play the game then if you haven't you can try out 2-4 its very fun
For those wondering why both Tekken's Leo and Julia are in the video, Julia does hakkyokuken (same as Akira) which is the Japanese term for the Chinese martial art bajiquan.
Bajiquan vs JKD
JKD vs wrestlers
Karate girls vs kunoichi.

“I can’t help but notice it looks like your answers are the exact same”
Would love to see a sequel of this
Using Jann Lee's theme from DOA2 automatically makes this vid GOATed
I really do hope VF updates its sound design on its next game
I believe that will happen. There will be no reason to "appeal to the tradition", because the series kinda died and will be revived and likely exposed to many gamers who didn't grow with the game. People who already grew with TK's monopoly of the 3d fg scene. Making references to ancient audio assets won't make any sense for likely a big part of the fg public in the 2020s.
I have a feeling the next VF will feel very Yakuza.
This is literally how real martial arts are....everyone has their own personality even with the similarities
That flying kick along with the cinematic style was the greatest move on DOA2 by Jan Lee. Then Tekken literally ripped it off entirely and added it to Marshall Law.
No hate, but irked me so much because I absolutely loved the visual and move on Jan Lee on DOA2 and I’m a hardcore Tekken fan.
I like how for Jeet Kune Do, you hear Law and Jann crying "WATAAAAH! WOAAAAH!" and then Jacky going "YEAH!!!"
Interesting to note that across these games, Jeet Kune Do is used by characters who are abit flashy either personality wise or looks wise.
Tekken has more of a strong touch to it every time u throw a hard kick or punch u can almost feel it that's what makes it so good
3d fighting games will always be my favorite. I wish there were more of them.
They are just funer to me l am trying really hard to get into 2d fighting games and it took me almost 2 years to start enjoing street fighter 5 but now that l realized my one true love cammy white l am having fun in that game gotta get ready for streets 6 (that cammy redesign is so fucking cool dude)
Part 2 please like Wrestling, kung fu, kickboxing and other traditional Martial Arts
Tekken really got the right feeling of impact and hits, DOA did well too, Virtua Fighter feels a little off and slow.
Alittle too Realistic
@@youngmula226 I don’t know, I hate how the animations in Dead or Alive feel. It’s like the characters have no weight distribution in them and stand up by a single point on their heads pulling them up.
@@scorpioigor I think you nailed why I never liked DOA's animations. There are some genuinely good animations in DOA but for the most part they look like robots.
You can also compare Jun/Asuka, Aoi, and Tamaki
DOA movesets is much more realistic and more impactful than other franchises which came from Virtua fighter with added more movesets.
Remember these games (Tekken,DOA) actually successful clones from og Virtua Fighter.
They left out Sarah who also uses the same art as her Brother Jacky which is Jeet Kune Do. She's the first and only female of fighting games to use that style.
I love 3D fighters. These are the classics right here 👍🏿
damn i always thought the animation in doa was wack but this really just puts it in the spotlight
@Heidi Benner lol Virtua is the wack one slow movements and a big lack of everything, including a decent story mode
The fallen coconut in the end is like cherry on top, or coconut on top
Jin Kazama uses Kyokushin Karate to be spesific
Should do a part two with kick boxing and muay Thai
You know, I didn't notice this at all.
2:41 but the coconut falling on the girl.
That's different. 😂
I never knew the animations were so much based on real life MA. Very cool!
Yea. Always. Pros do motion capturing as well
Didn't Paul in tekken had baji Quan moves?
This video made Leo somewhat cool since he/she shares moves with Akira
VF and DOA for animation and sound effects. Tekken for presentation and visual effects.
I like how Hitomi had karate move but still have feminine punch and kicks
Karin Kanzuki has a lot of Baji Quan attacks as well.
This video does amazing justice at showing Tekkens superiority in animations and smooth movement 💯🔥
I love the camera changes during the throws
It's open to debate but you need to consider VF5FS is 12 years old
2:43 Best part
DOA has some really nice meaty oomph, and some really cool camera work as well
Great video. Fun idea and really well edited. Why wasn't Jean in the second half of the Karate section, though? He has all those moves, too
I think he does Kyokushin as well.
I love this video but your thumbnail for it had me screaming for a second.
ok, I didn't know you had already done that but thanks anyway, that's awesome dude. you gave me great information
*What's so dope about this video I play with most of the characters from the intro so I'm very familiar with their fighting style and combos*
How do we not have 3D mugen so i can have a dream match with all these ppl it's 2023 come ON
I hope Akira can make it into Tekken 8. Please Sega...
Also Kasumi in Tekken 8.
Is it a Sega issue though? Or a Namco issue actually not wanting to use VF? Because VF showed up in DOA5 for example. But TK7 preferred to go after 2d fgs, Final Fantasy and Walking Dead, turning an eye to other 3d fg.
@@carlosaugusto9821 Definitely not namco issue, Harada absolutely loves VF and wants it to return
If the time comes for Tekken Tag Tournament 3 to be released, I definitely want them to perform together.
I hope this turns into a series
DoA is still for me perfection in the way characters move, all others always feel robotic
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Heidi Benner Nah I dont give a fuck about that, dont reflect yourself on me child.
jin kazama's is specifically kyokushin karate
