Another example of how a record producer can make or break an album. Richard Perry had the golden touch and then when you have the best musicians writing/performing, you get a solid album.
The US album had the paper inner sleeve while the UK had the card stock sleeve. Actually, Richard Perry needed one more song for the album so he talked Ringo in doing "No No Song".
I have enjoyed this album since it came out. And your right about Snookeroo being a great track, too bad it wasn't a hit single for him. Thanks for the revisit of the Goodnight Vienna, a real 1970's classic.
As a 14 yr old I bought this at the time having just got into the Beatles and expected Sgt Pepper. Naturally I was disappointed so that tainted my view of it. In retrospect with more realistic expectations , it’s not really that bad.
In the United States Ringo was huge until Rotogravure. He had 2 number one singles, 7 top ten singles 2 top ten albums. I would love to know why he stopped working with Richard Perry who seemed to get him very well. Ringo’s albums would plummet after this.
Thanks John, much underrated album.Very enjoyable to listen to & what a collection of musicians!!!
I think Goodnight Vienna should be a single as its the second most catchy song of the album after the No No Song

Thank you for recognizing 'Snookeroo' as the great song it is! I really hope Ringo plays it in concert some day.
Yay! The first solo album I ever bought and one my fav since that day!!! Thanks
Oh May Pang definitely helped out!!!
Lovely review John 😊👍
i agree. i'd probably trade the chance to speak with may pang and nancy lee andrews for the "goodnight vienna" green vinyl on the apple label.
Hoyt Axton did the No No Song in 1975. There's a good youtube clip of Ringo on the Hoyt Axton Show (NBC).
Looking forward to John Heaton's reviews of the Tintin albums.

My favourite album from Ringo amongst some of other gems under his belt as Beaucoups Of Blues, Ringo the 4th or Ringorama👍🏻
Great review John, very happy to have finally bagged a vinyl copy. Enjoyed seeing all your variants!
I thoroughly enjoyed that john thank you.

I played this a few weeks ago and actually I think it’s a very good album. One of my favourite tracks is husband and wife’s.
Lots of great artist on just another Ringo album. I wonder outside of Beatles fans if anyone bought his albums.
Good night Vienna is not a patch on the Ringo album. IMO
Great musicians great production duff songs other than Snookeroo. Missed George and Paul
Ok album, but is far below the Ringo album.
That being said, some of Ringo's best vocals (see Only You).
Only you can make this whereld seem bright.
Richard Perry's work with Carly Simon (especially the No Secrets album from 1972) is worth exploration for definite too.
Why 4 copies? It’s a Ringo album 🤣

KLAATU ARE BRILLIANT!!...Terry Draper's songwriting makes Macca look like an amateur
It’s was crap then it’s still crap now
Haters gotta hate
