    @2:50"Our lives are not our own. From womb to tomb, we are bound to others. Past and present. And by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future". the "An Orison of Sonmi~451" (2144) segments would have made an excellent stand alone action movie

    Deprive them of their rights, and a company's workers end up becoming little more than the product (metaphorically anyway). Sonmi-451's story makes you think.

    Thank you - I have been looking for these scenes for a long time as I was not able to catch the film in the theatres. What a noble death and integrity. -'tarotworldtour'

    sonmi 451 is a fabulous character in the book as well, we see there more of her independence and humanity vs the nastiness of the purebloods

    The only thing stupid about it is that the consumers know they're treated as slaves and even see them die but dont care that much.

  • @UliPekAyes
    @UliPekAyes 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    "Honor thy consumer" above all else. Seems like a bleak and horrifying future, at least for a certain segment of society. Unfortunately it is now. I can recall several examples of "humans" at their childish histronic worst, not to mention the delusional and/or dishonest, get rewarded for this type of behaviour, squeeky wheel after squeeky wheel. I wonder if it will ever stop...Maybe when that new door opens for me too...

    Even though in the book, "The Pacific Journal of Adam Ewing" was rather difficult to read, and "An Orison of Sonmi~451" had that disillusioning twist about the Union Rebellion, Somni-451's & Adam Ewing's stories were my favorites in the film. I really liked the way they showed their stories; especially the way they connected the same two souls in Adam Ewing's story that had to part in Somni-451's story. Also loved their final words in both stories; wish Somni's were included here!

    Although I understand your decision, I think in THIS case removing the "nudity" actually also removes some of the artistic quality that went into making this film.
    The nudity was not gratuitous and actually quite the opposite.

    • @machin8593
      @machin8593 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      They probably removed the nude scenes because of TH-cam's censorship.

    • @voicetube
      @voicetube 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Actually you can find the exact same clip with the nudity intact - Safely indeed playing on TH-cam.
      Maybe the poster of this video did it because they THOUGHT TH-cam would block it, so I do understand what you're saying.
      Luckily TH-cam has loosened up a little bit over the last year or 2 (unless something is gratuitous, if it's at least a little bit artistic, they will usually leave breasts alone :-)

    • @machin8593
      @machin8593 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      voicetube I didn't know about the other clip. Thanks for telling me. TH-cam can be so random sometimes, I've seen videos taken down for less than a couple of tits, believe me. I know of a youtuber who was blocked after uploading a clip from a TV show in which one of his own videos was shown. Basically he was blocked for posting... his own work. Talk about senseless. Hence why I wouldn't be surprised if TH-cam removed a clip because of breasts. -_-'

    Forgive me, I wasn't suggesting that her death wasn't tragic. or that the actions of a society that uses sentient beings like toilet paper isn't immoral, unjust or evil. I'm saying that her magnificence as an extraordinary person transcended her slaughter. I'm saying that her life and love carried her beyond the reach of small minds and smaller souls. I'm saying that eternity would bear the mark of her spirit and dignity, long after the meager despots who took her life vanished from the world.

    Welcome to the Cyberpunk sub-genre. Hopefully our future will be more like the post-cyberpunk sub-genre (e.g. Ghost In The Shell). Though both sub-genres could be considered to be under Transhumanist fiction, as Transhumanist thought deals with both the pros and cons of how technology affects us.

    Its a tribute, the same way showing Martin Luther King in Selma is a tribute. Or reading Maya Angelou's "Why the caged bird sings". Who she is shines so bright against the backdrop of her black circumstance, that her spirit is almost blinding. Her dignity boundless. Her beauty lasting and resonant. She is the counterpoint to a world of worthless humanity. She is love and compassion in the face of despotism. No matter how you turn that, it is the most resounding of tributes.

    Well I've read what is considered "cyberpunk," ie Neuromancer, lots of Philip K Dick. But I have to say, this particular setting - the cafe, the waitresses, it was all so familiar. Like if Apple took over McDonald's 100 years from now - this is what they might come up with. It's so chilling.

    That doesn't happen as Somni and Hae-Joo never leave Korea and Zachary's story takes place on Hawaii. Also Hae-Joo Chang doesn't die in the book.

    ...Gathering people who wants to be a part of building a network of stable, fully self sustaining and self sufficient communities (a.k.a. life-boats for the coming environmental collapse). Communities that live and thrive free of money. Peaceful communities that are built upon foundation of : love, spirituality, mercy, generosity, tolerance, intelligent, and wisdom. If you are interested in becoming a part of this grass root efforts, I encourage your reply.
    This Community ARK Project is looking for peaceful, patience, humble, and kind-hearted people who are awaken and aware of the coming environmental collapse; who want to roll up their sleeves and participate in preparatory efforts. One cannot pull someone out of a raging river standing on a muddy slippery slope. In order to pull someone out of the river, one must stand on a firm solid foundation. A fully self-sufficient community is that solid foundation, upon which we stand in order to rescue other less fortunate who will be affected by the collapsing environment. If people are struggling to survive as the environment collapses, how can they help others? People need fully self-sufficient communities to shelter and nourish them, in order for them to reach out and help others.
    We are gathering people from all spectrum of professional background: engineers, scientists, architects, biologists, farmers, doctors, nurses, artists, etc. Both skilled and unskilled people. Those with knowledge will teach those who lack them. Those not in the know will listen and learn so they might in turn teach others in the community. We have spent 6 years researching technology that were designed to allow Mars colonies to thrive in a desolate environment. We are now planning on using those very same technology to prepare people for the coming environmental collapse. If you are interested in helping out, we could use the help to reach the ears of people who are awaken through social media, or you can read our blog titled "Generalized Plan of Actions" for a list of tasks you can volunteer for.
    (Note: this is a gathering process and NOT a recruitment process. When one recruit, one is trying to convince others to join a cause; well, someone else can always come along and convince people to join a different cause. But when one gather, one is speaking to those of like mind who do not need convincing; in their hearts and in their thoughts, they recognize the catastrophe that lay ahead if our modern societies continue on their current path of promoting competition, strife, ignorance and scarcity. This Community ARK Project is lighting a beacon so that those with similar mind set will know that they are not alone in their thoughts and impulses; that there are others like them out there who desire to come together to pool our effort in order to extract ourselves and place ourselves on a different path. One that promote cooperation, harmony, foresight, and a nurturing environment.)

      Odan-Urr you only need like two or three similar looking people and do the rest with computers and overlapping the same person acting more than once merged into the same scene.
