    WV is a unique place. I grew up in the coalfields; even after serving in the Air Force I moved back home. I call Fayette County home--near the New River Gorge. I have followed your channel because I own a Trail 125. I just stumbled across this video today. I love your story. I am a Delegate in the WV Legislature, and I would love for you to come and do a presentation in Charleston to our committee on Economic Development and Tourism about your trip through our state along this route. We are very much in the process of encouraging moto-tourism here in our state. Thanks for your stories.(Also, its pronounced "With-vul")

      I have family in WV and have gone there since I was little. I have a very deep love for that weird and wonderful state. I can't see me giving a presentation - although - that would probably be hilarious!!!

      @@SomeGuyRides It couldn't be worse than some of the presentations we have had. I represent the area where the New River Gorge National Park is now located. We are looking at every single available tourism option to boost our economy here. I grew up here, and my family has been here many generations dating back to the late 1800's. Things are looking up here in my county for the first time in a long time, and we are excited about what is happening. Thanks for the answer and for taking the time to respond. Take care!

    Love seeing you start a new series and I was the first to start this one.
    I rode my 2021 Himalayan Noraly (so named with permission from the real person) to Asheville from your favorite place (OK) to do some of the TAT with my Army buddy. How lucky you are to live in NC. We rode three days and didn’t get out of NC. Such wonderful riding and beautiful scenery!! NC has it all-mountains, piedmont, sand hills, tidal flats, beaches, and the regular stuff everyone else has.
    Safe travels! I’ll be watching.

    Glad to see someone else putting in lengthy road time just to get to the fun. I am heading to the Georgia Traverse in early September. Taking it easy though, all along back roads and country highways along the way. Two day trip there from my location in Florida(Flat-ass Florida). Got to ride this bike (Rija) in some elevations to really appreciate it. Hopefully the "solar flares" will die down by then. Can't imagine hoofing it through those backroads at a feels like of 100+ degree.

    Honda of the ozarks had a v85 used a couple weeks ago. Can’t remember the price but they’re located in Springfield mo. I also ditched my visor for a street helmet and put vinyl tape across the top of the visor so when riding directly into the sun I just move my head slightly down. Works great. I put a slightly taller wind shield on my bike also. As far as fuel mileage I get 70-80 mpg on my RE himi. But that’s not running the engine that high in the revs. After break in oil change I went to bel ray oil. It used some before the next change but seems like now it isn’t. I was wondering if high revs had something to do with the oil consumption or just break in still. Anyway it doesn’t seem to use any now but I haven’t pushed it. Cool video bud. Thanks.

  • @RebelCowboysRVs
    @RebelCowboysRVs ปีที่แล้ว

    My bikes fuel gauge seems to only measure the last gallon. It shows full most of the time, but once it starts dropping, its time to stop for gas. I believe its a 3 gallon tank an I stopped with the gauge showing three quarters yesterday an put 2 gallons in it. As for carburetors? Carburetors suck. Not because their is anything wrong with them, but because ethanol fuel is corrosive an destroys carburetors. Its also hygroscopic. So not only does the fuel react with the metal parts in the carburetor, it takes in moisture from the air, separates in to layers an the thick components clog the small passages in the carburetor. I drain my carburetor at the end of every ride so I know it will not be clogged if it takes me a month to have time to ride again. Carburetors only downside of their own is that they are not great at regulating fuel at all throttle positions an RPM. So traditionally they are tuned slightly rich to protect the engine, sacrificing mileage an power. In a fuel injection system, the fuel rarely touches any metal to react with. And it never touches air to pull moisture from. The new "learning" systems can regulate fuel so well, it can run the engine slightly lean without hurting the engine. That results in more power an less fuel used per mile. A lot of the older stuff just used a pre programmed fuel map. Not really any better than a carburetor as it cant account for air pressure an altitude changes. So they are usually running rich just like a carburetor.

    To add fuel injection the DR would have to meet modern emissions standards, which means.. a whole new bike. Suzuki is a company that makes money selling good, cheap bikes because they don't spend on R&D. They've paid off the design ages ago and continue to make money. No new stamping, no new tooling, no training.. just running old designs that work. So, you're stuck with a carb and an ugly (but trendy at the time) rectangular 1980s headlight.
