that was one of the best videos I watched in this subject. I have some questions;
wattage of curcuit or for a specific resistor should be considered? for 5v supply, 1w 3v led, the wattage for resistor is not 1w?? because the 0.3 apms from led in 3 volts is under 1w.
another question is can we run a 6v led on 5v usb supply? is it be on max brightness or even lighted up?
if we want a 1w resistor 56 ohms, can we use 4 1/4 14 ohms resistors in series?
I have 12.4v battery and i only need 5v for my servo so i get 7.4 then the servo has the 2.5A then i got 2.96kohms resistor so i calculate. watts = 2.5 x 7.4 is equal to 18.5 watts of resistor? Is it correct? How can i get 18.5 watts of resistor, I only know 1/8, 1/4, 1/2.......etc

Howdy, Brother! What resistor should I use if I have a yellow 10mm LED Emitting Diode (1.8-2.2V) powered by two AA Batteries (on/off switch in the loop)? Will 47 ohms work? I'm not even sure if I asked the question properly . Thanks for any assistance.

I was rebuilding a headlight assembly on a project car to which a resistor was broken. I’m about 98% sure it’s a 5 watt but I only have 10 watt (same ohms) in stock at the store near me. Will that cause a problem?

So, why then, when I connected 10K 0.25W resistor to the 12V battery it got hot enough to burn my finger? According to the calculations: 12v/10000 Ohms = 0.006Amps; And then 0.006A*12V = 0.072Watts. While resistor tested was 0.25W - way more then 0.072Watts required. Why is it getting melting hot?

How can I calculate the resistor if the input is 220v using the 3v LED. And also wattage of resistor. Thanks
217 volt x 0,02 A = 4,34 watt
217 volt / 0,02 A = 10.850 ohm
Given the LED diode use 20 mA.

Can I connect these 20 leds to a car battery with the same 3.6w resistor? Please explain
it would be bad practice to use one resistor for 20 leds, if one or more of the leds die then the math changes... also as a rule the used watts should never be more than half of the rated watts of the resistor!
and if you was to have a resistor for every led, you would need one 1/2w resistors or two 1/4w resistors in parallel for each led.

100 ohm resistor of what watt should be used to convert 5v to 3v?
5v power supply, 100 ohm resistor, 3v led gets 0.02a.
5v - 3v = 2v
2v / 100 ohm = 0.02a
2v x 0.02a = 0.04w
general rule is that the watts used should be less than half of the rated watt of the resistor!
1/4 watt resistor 0.25w / 2 = 0.125w max can be used.
1/8 watt resistor 0.125w / 2 = 0.0625w max can be used.
so you can use 1/4 and even a 1/8 watt resistor since your setup only use 0.0400w.
