That was really cool mike,I love spearing for flounder,is at the top of my fishing active ties, plus my favorite eating fish, that was yummy, much love to the whanau brother
Far out mate. Your videos always make me hungry! It would be so good to cook up some cockles and yabbies (freshwater crayfish) in butter, olive oil, lemon, parsley, dill, s&p, white wine and chicken stock with a bit of hot chili flakes. Stir it all through pasta and mop up the juices with hot herb and garlic buttered toasted ciabata bread! Yum!
It just don't get any better than this, fresh flounder and the second course is to die for. Glad I stopped working and caught up with these great videos.
Can't beat a good Patiki in butter mmmmmmmmm. I recognize the spot all that water and muddy sand must be down by .......................................

Yeah bro you need a underwater light, floundering with a flash light is a waste of time. Mean cook up with the flounder, koura, cockles and eggs, those eggs, got to have those eggs.
Hey bro, me and the boys are heading up to the harbour from palmy for a fishing trip and are keen as on flounder, any chance for a little tip on where to go with the spears?
edge of the water, incoming tide, stay shallow, don't need a flash spear a length of #8 wire and a stick is fine, Harbour is good but even surf beach have them, anywhere there's crab holes in the sand/mud , Try Foxton or Tangimoana bro they will go into the fresh a bit too.
Have to say too the hessian bag he has is a top tip too it holds them well and when wet keeps them cool they will even stay alive in a sack like that for a surprisingly long time.
A feast for kings , A feast for kings. Cheers Weka. All gets a bit scary when you get up high doesn't it young fella?? Cops have better things too do. FACE SLAP.
Why did MAF make using a pole to secure set nets illegal? As of today I'm aware it is illegal ( after reading up on it) but can't understand why this technique of securing a set net would be made illegal. Any insight into that?
@@rossphillips7128 OK thanks for the information. Just realized I haven't been setnetting for flounder in 8 years. Man time flies, didn't think it was that long ago.

Could you not drag the net with heavier lead line like a prawning drag net cover more ground and easy going in shallow water.

I’m not the fun police but just so you know it’s illegal to set nets on a pole like that

I’m not sure it been like this for at least 10 years. The law states anchored with a bouy. I believe dragging using poles is fine not setting.
