Your explanation is by far the best, and most understandable to date. Here are my QUESTIONS, for your future videos: 1) when you daisy chain multiple micro inverters onto the backbone wire, how do they stay in phase with one another? 2) when you have multiple runs (backbone runs) how does each run stay in phase with the other runs? 3) how do you wire multiple runs into an AC breaker box, to then be distributed for use to the house or building? 4) How do you store energy from these micro inverters which output 240V AC into a DC battery bank? 5) how do you get energy out of the battery bank and into the AC Breaker Panel, and keep it in phase with the input from the micro inverter runs? I have more questions, but if you could answer those in depth, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Seth, does the Hoymiles require any type of "Gateway" or is it out of the box ready to produce 240VAC when it sees it is connected to a 240VAC grid at 60Hz? (Assuming it has the solar input). I ordered the exact same unit (mine is 2,000 Watts) you are showing it just hasn't arrived yet. I was surprised at the cost of the Trunk Cable!
I am very interested in these micro inverters, just need much more information, so I can understand the entire ecosystem, so I can design which components I need, to build a complete system. Thanks
If installing one or two PV panels say just to supplement a few watts grid tied , dose Hoymiles Micro Inverters need the gateway to wake them up like Enphase micro inverters ?

Do these have the remote shut down now required by electrical/fire code? I suspect the loss of A.C. from the grid causing them to turn off would qualify as the shutdown, but I'm not sure if more is required.
Hi Jim, I am a fan of your content as well btw. The CSA on this is interchangeable with CUL for US/Canada use. They are different testing organizations but use the same criteria (National Elec Code etc.). Both hold the same “weight” with regard to certification.
I had enphase I had 5 out of 6 units fail in under 5 years I called them they refused the warranty because I no longer had my paperwork and offered to sell me 5 new units ... Never again enphase.. moved to string with outback ..thank you outback. I did like the idea of micros for partial shading during the days but honestly the string doesn't really show as a issue
Rather than explaining the input as "4 times 15A", it is better to explain that each input is 15A and so many volts or speak it as "4 by15A" The one stat I didnt hear is the most important one for any inverter(in either direction. What is the Effiency of the unit? How much energy does it waste vs keeping your full system DC and living with occasional shading?

You wouldn't use micro inverters on a battery system, you would want a hybrid charger inverter, you want the batteries on the DC side for efficiency.

Can you then connect to s battery. We have micro inverters but told we needed to have a single inverter if we were to connect to a battery

What if you had 20 large panels on one array or entire roof etc?
You can use a T branch style MC4 connection to get a series parallel panel string within your voltage requirements
