Possibly. The problem with the Chinese is they usually don’t put it together in prelims to make finals. They choke a lot and when they do make finals I think the nerves get to them. It’s a very original and unique routine and so fluid and pretty to watch. I hope she hits it and medals.

china is currently working wonders. there already amazing on beam and bars and there floor and vault are already showing improvements from chow. there also hitting more often (atleast from what we saw at nationals so far) and there working more with the mental state of there gymnasts. as soon as simone is gone i can see the us being a bit scared of china....

It’s very unlikely and hard for her to do it. She already did in training and internal camps. But it’s such a risk for her, it’s better for her to stay healthy and do this exact routine. After all, even with this double twist dismount, she’s one of the best contenders for BB gold.

Absolutely beautiful! I am so tired of watching basically the same routine from everyone, just the order of the moves are different! This routine was beautiful artistically which I really enjoyed. She was on the beam longer and just drew you in with her. She did everything with grace and landed everything wonderfully. I would like to thank her for all her hard work and wish her much success in the future!
Excellent! They're always so amazing in training and at nationals, but then get so nervous internationally. I've lost count on how many 6.7, 6.8, 7.0 beam routines I've seen at Chinese Nationals, at Worlds/ Olympics they haven't been getting it together. That arena looks cool. The Ed Sheeran floor music is horrible.

@pinkaholic30 Yeah I expected to see her at the early competitions this year w/ a completely reworked routine and while there have been some significant changes, I just think ring elements are too risky for her, especially on an international stage where judges will be seeing athletes like Flavia execute them so well consistently.
I love that Ou does a TRUE front handspring into the combo, rather than a front walkover (like most gymnasts), with no real flight, that judges keep crediting as a FHS! She shows exquisite form throughout! 😍
Nice routine. Very elegant with the hand gestures and toe points. Looks like the Chinese program levelled up, and are now incorporating ballet into the training of these new generation of gymnasts.
Having a high risk dismount would definitely be a smarter move (only if she can do it safely). Her routine relies too much on connections. Having an F+ dismount would give her a guaranteed .5 increase in skill and connection value. She would still have a 6.5 d score even if she was only credited with .8 in connection value (not including the .2 in connection value that the round off to triple twist dismount would give her, which would then make the total connection value 1.0).
Very poised and relaxed. She makes it look easy. I hope she keeps the exciting way she gets onto the beam. Lots of risky moves here and taking risks is probably the only way to win on beam this year.

She stalled that flick out really nice. Lots of girls do that skill but no stall. I'm actually hoping for her to take gold. She has skills plus amplitude.

2.5 twist is only 0.1 more. Triple twist is 0.5 more. But she is still coming back from injury and probably won’t do triple twist here at nationals but we might see it in Tokyo!

It’s an easy dismount but virtually perfect, so it closes the routine with elegance.
