Hi nick! We missed you. I was getting worried about you since I haven’t seen any posts on anything. Glad to see you again though. I hope you’re doing well!
So glad to see you back. I use humidity trays and a humidifier. My house doesn’t get wet or soggy at all, just comfortable. The moisture makes the house feel a bit warmer, the plants enjoy it, as do the dog and I. Reasonable levels of humidity, not rain forest levels, are beneficial for us and even our wooden furniture. I absolutely agree that wet and soggy would not be enjoyable and like the cool humidifiers. I have used them for years without the stranded in a rain forest effect. Moderation works great for my plants. Anyway I am so glad to see you back, you have been missed. I am a very good repotme customer thanks to, they have wonderful mixes. Be well.
I'm in Sweden and the sun sets at 3 PM here... I find without grow lights plants become leggy and really struggle... I use them on my north windows, but not on those facing South. Fingers crossed we all survive this winter! Thank you for the video!
😢 miss your videos your my favorite plant person I know you have a new job and it takes a lot of your time but hope you can start post more often…your truly the best ❤
Nick, can you make a separate video to explain how you have set up and how do you maintain the green cabinet, what plants have you placed in there… Thank you!
Such a helpful video as I wrestle with organizing my plants between the grow tent and the living spaces! I seem to still have some shuffling around to do 🙃
I have central HVAC, so my house stays around 70 degF all winter. Most of my plants still grow as a result. Some have a grow light but the ones in the room with south and west facing windows don't, and the natural changes in lighting led to my Christmas/ Thanksgiving/holiday cacti blooming on their own!
I've learned the lack of humidity in my home during the winter season is how i've lost a lot of plants (and my heavy watering hand 🤦♀) Being a plant owner has definitely come with a lot of trial and error and SO much learning 😂Hoping this winter season goes better! This year was the first time I really started learning about soil types and what each plant wants, using grow lights, digital thermometer/humidity meters and pebble trays. I also started using soils from repotme and creating mixtures using the different mediums they sell. I have already noticed a drastic difference in my plants from that alone. Thanks so much for all the tips and tricks Nick 🙂 (and the discount code!)
I have loads of south facing windows. Plants are getting tons of light. I would think they will still grow in winter and need fertilizer. In fact, I noticed my Hoya Kroniana is growing more now than in summer.
Hiya Nick! Nice to see you Sis! I hope you are doing well. Ty for this video, very timely. I'm finally getting off my ass and rearranging my jungle for winter today...ugghh. I appreciated the tip on more succulent babies tolerating being nearer the windows. Stay well, self care always but especially this holiday season...cause ya know...people😂😉
I have heard that humidity trays really don’t help much, at least outside of a greenhouse cabinet. This makes sense-that’s a relatively low volume of water evaporating into the air and before long going into the larger room. The area right around the plant hardly benefits. (Use a moisture meter if you don’t believe me, and you’ll see for yourself.) More helpful is a humidifier, keeping the plant away from the heat vents, and turning the heat down so that the heat just runs that much less often. Even a two or three degree heat drop results in the furnace running far less. If that’s too cold for you, at least turn it down when you’re not home and at night when you can pile on the blankets in bed.
Winter plant care is such a crucial topic, and your video hit the mark with its insightful tips and guidance. Your expertise shines through, making it easier for us plant enthusiasts to navigate this season. Keep up the fantastic work! 🌿❄
I supplement my succulents and African violent with some simple grow lights, but otherwise don’t do much else for my plants in the winter. They’ve been fine.
Most of my plants do ok in the winter - I have found I'm struggling only with my smallest. Last year I lost a mini bloodleaf plant to root rot and this year my false aralia is starting to struggle already. Any help or tips for smaller plants appreciated.
How do you transition your plants from the glass greenhouse back into the house? I made one to keep my alocasias from going dormant and one survived. But when the weather is warmer I’d like it to be on display not in a glass cabinet!
Hey Nick! In one of your recent vids you mentioned the idea of giving in to using pesticides for indoor plants. Is there one you recommend? Love my new bromeliads, hate the gnats. If you use a pesticide, are you able to reuse that pot later for a food plant, or no?

I bought a humidifier and it made a difference.
I've added plants to my collection in these past few cold days (therapy 🧘🏾♀️) looking to add more. They're bunched up in my she room for fall/winter.
I have loads of south facing windows. Plants are getting tons of light. I would think they will still grow in winter and need fertilizer. In fact, I noticed my Hoya Kroniana is growing more now than in summer.
True it depends on your conditions. Lucky you.
Hi Nick! This was another fun tips and tricks! I'm like you, I prefer the warmer seasons, too. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks, Nick!

Hola 😮nick been looking for your latest vid and nothing till now,,,lol nice to see ya nick.😊
Really good tips Nick! I was wondering a better way to raise humidity without a humidifier 😁

I'm loving the humidity tray idea. I've been thinking about doing it. Love your videos.

The humidity link doesn’t work. Can you please update? Thank you!

You're the best
Great tips. 👍 ❤
I have a fish tank that keeps the humidity up.
