  • Are eggs beneficial to our health, or do they contribute to our risk of heart disease? Experts advise egg consumption should be part of a healthy lifestyle - and fears that eggs can be bad for us appear to have been laid to rest.

I eat eggs almost daily, right beside my bowl of oatmeal, and have no cholesterol issues. My last check w/ lood tests rated my level at 133, which sitsin the sweet spot, so I have no worries about ever developing heart disease. I also exercise regularly and am not over-weight. I gave up fast foods and prepared or processed foods, as well, hoping to stave off that nasty cancer by intaking less crap like preservatives and additives, etc. Time will tell if my choices have made a difference. Fingers crossed I make it to 120. lol

A single case doesn't make statistics. Imagine that you conclude that smoking does not increase the risk of getting lung cancer because uncle Tom smoked all his live and died aged 90 without developing lung cancer. After years of studies and collecting statistics we now know that smoking does increases the risk of developing cancer.
There is a reason why all those studies are so important, they try prove causality in correlations we find all over the place. Unfortunately with food is very hard to prove any causality because you can't ask people to eat just one type or a particular combination of food every day for extended periods of time.

The orange hue of the yolk is from the level of beta carotene in the diet of the chicken who laid the egg, the redness increases with higher omega-3 content (especially from astaxanthin). Typically to get the most out of an egg, the albumin is cooked, and the yolk is runny. The yolk is less-beneficial the more cooked it is.
Overall physical activity is an important consideration.

I’m gonna stick with a simple rule of thumb. The things these miraculous bodies of ours evolved to digest many thousands of years ago, and are thus still pretty much enzyme-ready to digest nowadays -e.g. meats, fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds, herbs, eggs, fungi, spices, salt, and even sugar- I’m not gonna worry about. And the things that we haven’t had thousands of years experience digesting -e.g. factory altered fats, extruded syrups, feathers, bones, scales, rocks, nonstick cookware coatings, plastics, furniture, clothing, and other humans- I’m also not gonna worry about, by not eating them. -Phill, Las Vegas

    • @Ermude10

Well, volume matters too. Just because you can digest it doesn't mean that digesting large amounts of it almost every day is good for you.

@Death Of Time, your statement is so completely wrong in every aspect, there is almost zero waste produced by the digestion of meat because humans stomach ph is much lower than herbivores, raw meat is the easiest to digest, fiber in plants is not digested and is what you see in the toilet.

Nutrition science should not function as 'guilty until proven innocent', but that's the situation we're stuck in. Even worse, the major health and heart organisations stubbornly refuse to alter their advice, even as said nutrients are gradually proved innocent. Even this reasonably balanced video contains some nonsense and oversimplifications, such as that saturated fat is bad for you and that there is only one type of LDL and it is bad for you. Both are false statements.

Eggs in China have not been washed, ie., they still have the protective cuticle. They are fresher and more nutritious than refrigerated eggs. Only in places where big ag controls food production do you see three month old washed and refrigerated eggs being sold. The study is not comparing apples to apples.

Eggs would have been a seasonal food source for humans in some ecosystems, like the Arctic. Any hunter-gatherer would eat eggs, absolutely. Birds can often re-nest and produce eggs a few times too, so it doesn't necessarily even affect bird numbers. I avoided chicken eggs decades ago when they really were painted as unhealthy, but not after we learned that was incorrect. Thank you science 😊 Duck eggs are best, from happy ducks in your yard. Some breeds lay more eggs than most chickens do. oh yeah, unfortunately avian flu has just reared its ugly head again. 😔

Interesting videos but with a few mistakes. You're confusing trans-fats with saturated fats. They are not the same thing. Trans-fats (e.g. Crisco, margarine) are among the worst things a person can eat. Alternatively, tallow, lard, butter along with coconut oil and olive oil are among the healthiest fats one can eat. As for most "vegetable" oils (e.g. corn, canola (rapeseed), safflower, etc.), they are made from highly mechanized processes to convert seeds into oil that are highly inflammatory by causing an increase in omega-6-fatty acids.
For seven decades, there has been no conclusive evidence to show that dietary cholesterol caused an increase in serum cholesterol and there have been plenty of studies to show the opposite. In fact, the American Heart Association no longer recommends restricting dietary cholesterol towards this end. As for cardiovascular disease, the single best addition to diet would to eat at least half of calories from green leafy vegetables and their related foods particularly of the cruciferous variety (e.g. cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, mustard greens, collard greens, kale, onions, garlic, etc.). The best things to avoid or minimize are grains, rice, potatoes, pasta, etc. as well as fruits (other than berries, strawberries, lemons). As for eggs, this is just about one of the best food that one can eat. Most of the benefits are in the yolk, so it would be foolish to discard it thinking that it is healthy.

Thanks for the information, anyway there's no need to waste food to make videos, no matter if it's affordable for some part of the world.
