    I have got some examples where the instructor use present tense but not always the simple present. It seems very puzzling to me. I would like to share those sentences with you for your opinion and if there any rules regarding this please let me know.
    1. Context : Mark will wake up tomorrow at 7:30. His wife will leave for work at 7:00.
    Mark will wake up tomorrow after his wife has left for work.
    2. Context: I’m going to leave the office at 7:30 tonight. Traffic usually dies down around 7:00.
    I will leave the office after traffic dies down.
    3. Context: Emily and Helen will be having a meeting at 4:00. Katie will join their meeting at 4:30.
    Katie will join the meeting after Emily and Helen are talking already.
    4. Context: Kevin is going to ride his horse tomorrow. After that, he will go swimming.
    Kevin rides his horse before he will go swimming.

      1. I think you are asking about "has left". You use present perfect in that situation to show that one action happens before another action. "has left" happens before mark "wakes up".
      2. I am not sure about number 2.
      3. We use present progressive in the time clause to show the action in progress at that time in the future.
      4. number 4 just looks wrong to me. It should be " Kevin will ride his horse before he goes swimming.
      leona, I hope that helps. Let me know if you would like me to explain more.

      Leona,
      Number 2 seems to follow the same pattern in the video. It uses the present simple in the time clause. "after traffic dies down."
      I don't discuss the variations in the video because I try to keep the videos short. I will try to put together another video by next week that discusses the variations. thanks for your questions.
      Dan

      Thank you again.
      Is it possible to write the sentence #2 using the present perfect?
      It is a good news for us that we are going to have a new video on this topic.
      By the way, I have subscribed your channel.

    • @TeacherDanFitz

      Yes, you could use present perfect or present simple and get the same idea because the word 'after' clearly shows the order of events.
      I will leave at 7:30 after traffic dies down.
      I will leave at 7:30 after traffic has died down.
      If you replace 'after' with 'when' the present perfect is necessary to show that one event happens before another event.
      I will leave at 7:30 when traffic has died down. (traffic dies down before 7:30)
      I will leave at 7:30 when traffic dies down. (traffic dies down at 7:30.)

    Can I use present perfect after such words as when, while, before, after... . For example: He may watch TV after he have finished his homework. or When he have got home, he will do his homework? What the difference between useing present perfect and present simple?

    • @TeacherDanFitz
      @TeacherDanFitz  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      using present perfect stresses 'before that time'. In your 2 examples, present perfect and present simple in the time clauses will have a similar meaning.

    • @pavelp7148
      @pavelp7148 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If present perfect emphasises that something will be done only after a condition is fulfilled.
      Does it imply that in the following example the second sentance is more appropriate?
      1. I will send you the paper after I finish it.
      2. I will send you the paper after I have finished it.
      For me as non-native English speaker these sentences are identical. Please, pease clarify.

    • @TeacherDanFitz
      @TeacherDanFitz  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I see them as the same meaning. there is slightly more emphasis on the order of actions in the second sentence.

    Hello teacher Dan!Thank u for this course,I ama an English teacher,I was teaching today the same lesson as the one you,re teaching,my pupils asked me for e.g when we have the sentence like ,"I will go home when it rains and "I will go home when it has rained ' are the 2sentences different?they asked me. when to use present perfect tense?May you help me??

    • @TeacherDanFitz
      @TeacherDanFitz  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      they have about the same meaning. The present perfect stresses that the action 'has rained' will happen before the other action 'will go home.
      "I will go home when it rains."
      first it will begin raining. Then I will go home.
      'I will go home when it has rained.'
      The rain will happen before I go home.
      Generally the same meaning. 99% of the time we wouldn't use the perfect tense in a time clause about the future but sometimes we do.
