We went the Eyam Rat Burning and its INSANE

  • We travelled to Eyam in the Peak District for one of the most uniqure bonfire traditions in the UK. Eyam was destroyed by the plague in 1665 and to commenerate this the village builds a giant rat for the Burn The Rat event on Bonfire Night. The event starts in Eyam village square and a giant rat is carried up the streets to the chants of "Burn the Rat, Burn the Rat" before been placed on the giant bonfire. Trurly a unique experience.

      She was definitely into it haha, think she would have burned the village down if she could. I wasnt expecting lit torches like that, thought health & safety might have stopped it lol

      Mate it was fantastic, highly recommend going next year. Worth going just for a day out in the peaks now.
