In this video Paul Andersen explains how current moving through a loop of wire can act as an analog for a magnetic dipole. Magnetic dipoles (like compass needles) respond to magnetic fields created by other magnets.

If we put a magnet in a magnetic field will align with the magnetic field lines or will it start oscillate like an electric dipole in a electric field?

Though I have a question. I understand an electric dipole aligns in the opposite orientation of an electric field. Does a magnetic dipole align in the opposite or same orientation as a magnetic field? From the start of the video it seemed it would be the same orientation, but then when you were talking about the earth you mentioned that the earth's magnetic field is in the opposite orientation.

Ever heard about the Currie temperature? If you know what that is you understyand that hot magma has no magnetic field and b/c pressure it wont move inside Earth, it´s only when you brake the crust it can move!

Magnetic monopols exist mr. Anderson! I think, if my memory don´t play tricks, that it was back in 2009 it was discovered...

Co isn't copper, of course, that's a slip of the tongue. He means to say cobalt. Copper is not ferromagnetic. Iron, cobalt, nickel. Not copper! :-D

why magnet monopole does not exist?..does not exist really???

If you put an external charge near a conductor, all the positive charges and negative charges would arrange themselves on opposite sides of the rod to get as far apart as possible. Then, if you cut the rod in the middle, you would have one rod that is totally negatively charged and one rod that is totally positively charged. If you put an external magnet/charge/current near a ferromagnetic rod, there would be a north and a south pole. However, if you split that rod in the middle, the new smaller rod would form a north and south pole also -- there would not be only a north or only a south pole when they are split. I know this was a long time ago lol but hope it helps anyone else who needed more clarification
