So tasteful, imo that's what making music is all about... He managed to really "wow" me a few times in just the first solo... That's rare... When he blows that horn, it's like a warm breeze through a beautiful forest, in the late afternoon after a beautiful day... Like WooooooW.

Rossano Sportiello, where have you been all my life? Equally good as a bandmate and soloist, fabulous touch and technique. Nicki seems to be channeling Ray Brown. Great drumming too. Not to mention Scott on sax. Wonderful music and recorded sound.

This Peter DeRose tune is almost forgotten now in the popular mind. Often thought of in the same vein as “Stardust” (Mitchell Parish wrote the lyrics of both) which will always be played by some tenor player, somewhere in the world, every night till the end of time. But “Deep Purple” is a fine melody with an interesting structure and lovely changes, which Scott, Nicki and the band explore delightfully.
