This is called a type of 'NAUVAARI SARI' in central Indian state Maharashtra. 'Nau' means number 9, 'Vaari' means Yard. Our Grandmothers generation wore this for their whole life. I absolutely love this look, and the draping skills, how secure is the style? With the material simply tucked in pants at back, doesnt it pull out when you sit down? Also, what dimensions of material are needed for such a wrap? Thankyou so much for sharing this beautiful culture.

@@anice1987in very few instances they would pull out but if tucked according to correct length and width thwy will never pull out from the tucked area ..
You need a very tight & secure belt at the waist for sarees. They've worn leggings here for the sake of the video, but it's never worn with a loose waist like this. Those who are not used to wearing sarees regularly (like me) usually pin the pleats to the underskirt to ensure it doesn't unravel.
I've this particular style of draping used by women & men (men wouldn't have the "pallu" that drapes of the shoulder) who are working in the fields or fishing or in the markets. Since it's more like pants, it can be very practical for such jobs. And quite secure.
