armys, don't forget to turn on CC!
sorry if the audio sounds weird, i changed microphones for this video but i think i may go back to the old one.
and i'm sorry i had to redact a lot of the script, youtube kept saying it was not appropriate 😒 isn't it kind of funny how i can't call out st*lkers and the pap*razzi without redacting half my script but their content "exposing" celebrities is shared everywhere on the internet? 💀

ARMY should stop engaging with any media, sasaengs or fansites contents. They are nice enough to share a lot of social media, from reality shows to their Instagram pictures, they are giving us a lot and we DON'T need more than that.
I don't care if y'all are "worried" about how Jin is doing, he will update us when he wants to or through the members, like with J-Hope last time. I prefer to spend the rest of the upcoming two years with zero news while happily knowing they are respected, and so as their privacy.

    • @ystrw
      @ystrw ปีที่แล้ว +93

Exactly this. Jin is a very private guy. He will show us what he wants to show us, when he chooses to do so, and we need to continue to respect that. The fact that he himself has not released anything since his entrance ceremony should be enough of an indicator for everyone to back off from these so-called official pictures. He's not posting them, the members are not posting them, and HYBE is not posting them, so they are NOT official.

    • @JJordan19821
      @JJordan19821 ปีที่แล้ว +39

@@ystrw exactly! The fact that the members don't share or Hybe means he doesn't want them shared. I see comments where ppl say that if u rather not see him for 2 years then u are not a true ARMY and don't care. We care but we also respect the fact that ppl want their privacy as well and are willing to give them their space.

      @ystrw ปีที่แล้ว +29

@@JJordan19821 Oh, those comments are silliness- no, worse than silliness; that kind of thinking is where stalking begins.
Those people don't understand that the first and most important part of being ARMY is, as you say, respect. Respect for the seven members, respect for fellow fans, respect for other artists and other fandoms. It's not in the least about how often we see Jin, it's entirely about respecting his stated wishes.

Exactly! I'd happily go until 2025 with no news from the members while in the military than add to the pressure they feel to be perfect for the camera 24/7. There were people sharing his daily menu saying that it makes them feel less worried, as if we had access to his daily menu before?? Jin recorded videos to be shared while he's away and he can call the other members and ask them to update us, and Bighit has probably prepared some content with the rest of the group too for when they have to go. We don't need to know what BTS is doing every second of their day. They give enough of their personal lives for our entertainment as is, we don't need to take away the little bit of privacy they have left.

There were some times in the past when they showed their discomfort more clearly... I remember one time in particular when Taehyung was being followed by sasaengs at the airport who were shoving cameras in his face, he suddenly snapped and took out his phone to film them in return, as if to show them what it felt like. He really looked angry. Other times they literally had to run from being chased, or their security physically had to protect them from being mobbed, and they seemed really scared. There's also a scene in one of their documentaries when they realise they're being followed by an unmarked van with paparazzi and Hoseok says that kind of thing scares him. They've also mentioned several times that they need to have privacy, that they don't want to be followed, that they constantly have to change their phone numbers etc. They've talked about it on livestreams and said "please don't do these things," Big Hit has released multiple statements about it, and they've taken legal action against a few individuals. Those are just a few random points off the top of my head.
Sadly I think they've had to train themselves over time to 'act natural' and smile no matter how uncomfortable they are, because they know it's the most effective strategy to avoid escalating situations or having someone create an unfair 'scandal' by antagonising them. That does NOT mean they are actually ok with paparazzi, stalkers, or regular fans who don't respect boundaries.
When ARMY was smaller and it was easier to organise, there were multiple times when we made projects to protect the boys. For example the 'Purple Ribbon Project' when ARMY gathered for official events and we would hold long purple ribbons creating a clear barrier to remind everyone not to run toward the boys and to maintain a clear pathway for them to walk on. Taehyung made a post holding a purple ribbon and thanking us, and all the members have mentioned in interviews how touched they were by that.
We also protected them when they were travelling on private schedules (e.g. info was leaked that they were travelling to a certain country or city on holiday, so we made sure every local ARMY spreads the word that if you see them you should not approach them, if you must approach them be very polite and brief, never take photos without permission, if you see them somewhere do not mention it on social media until some days have passed so their location doesn't get revealed, if you see anything shared without permission just report it etc). The members also mentioned that they were aware of these efforts and thanked us multiple times. The care and loyalty that true ARMY show is clearly so important to Bangtan, they appreciate so much that we respect them and try to make space for them to have private lives. It breaks my heart that we are not currently living up to that standard.

this is a great video. it made me think of a clip from a while ago that showed taehyung being followed by a fan in the airport who was taking close-up pictures of him with her phone--he got so irritated he took out his own phone, held it up to her face, and started snapping pictures himself to give her a taste of her own medicine. she reacted by immediately covering up her face and turning away from the camera, which proves both that she knows she was doing something wrong and that she knows having your picture taken without your consent doesn't feel good.
but the most amazing thing to me is that even in his frustration, taehyung was thoughtful and respectful enough of HER privacy to keep his phone camera on selfie mode so she wouldn't actually be in any of the pictures (though of course, she didn't know that at the time). i think that whole moment was extremely telling, and i wish they could be more vocal about their true feelings on this without being painted as "ungrateful" or "rude."

I hope most of us can do their part and make it a bit easier for the guys

I fully support Bad Bunny throwing people’s phones away when they put it in his face. NOBODY likes randos coming at them, phone in hand to harass them, regardless of how nice they try to act. Especially if you’re a woman, you know how annoying it is to have random men approaching you on the streets since you were a child like… what’s not clicking??? Regardless of the intention it’s annoying and even frightening to be at the receiving end of unwanted rude approaches like that.
Some people really need to learn some manners. If basic human decency doesn’t come naturally to you maybe you broke phone will serve as reminder.

I agree 100%. Celebrities are not objects. This is their job. Just as anyone else who has a profession. How would you like for crowds of people following you home from work or taking pictures at church. Or have your doctor or priest release details of your visit with them. I was appalled to hear of this event. I pay for a ticket to see their concerts, music etc…that’s all. Celebrities don’t owe me any more than that. I’m satisfied with what they want to share. I respect BTS, specifically for their kind response to the paparazzi . It must be so frustrating and difficult for their families as well.

To me the issue about those signing up to consume Jin's pictures is cut and dry. 100%
In order to sign up for that friends/family website one of the things you need to input is the location of where the person is assigned. His location was leaked by the military and he very publicly and swiftly stated he had no plans to release that and didn't want it released. He wanted us to KNOW this very fact. Therefore, you as a fan should NOT have that to input when signing up.
And no, if you are "only" consuming someone else's pictures from these sites and then liking and sharing them, you are just as bad and subjecting those pictures to the rest of us trying to abide by Jin's wishes.

The fact that there are people like that one tt account who claim to be fans but at the same time excuse this behaviour is smth I'll never understand. We often hear "they chose this lifestyle." No, they didn't. They didn't choose to be stalked and harassed on a daily basis and to have no privacy. I remember reading an article of a female British celebrity who was banned many years prior from stepping in the US for a couple of years because she hit a paparazzo.
By the time I read that article she had again access to the country but I was completely shocked still and it happened in the 2000s+.
By the way, I have noticed that most of the people who complain about celebrities not accepting photos, videos and giving autographs in public explain that these celebrities are shameful because they would be absolutely nothing without the fans and these fans deserve all that
It’s interesting how is the actor who practiced, auditioned, stayed in a camper for 1-2 months, memorised body language and long conversations, had 4 table read days a week that lasted 16 hours each but people who consume all their work in 2 hours/12+ hours (for tv series) feel as if they deserve a prize for enjoying their work.
This reminds me of of actually manipulation and narcissistic personality disorder in which often a person feels entitled to you because they did the bare minimum or simply feel a certain way about you; for example some man man might consider a woman beautiful and attractive and he feels entitled to receive her respect and service in all occasions. Or toxic parents who feel that they deserve a lifetime of service from their kids because they gave them food and a roof. (Even worse, many people express how their parents might beat them badly but still feel like good people because they then reveal that at least they didn’t tie them in electric cords like it was done on them by their legal guardians/parents). - I come from a culture in which I respect my parents and everything they have done for me, I am obviously talking about the extremists. Even my mother uses the excuse that she gave me food so I should behave and do everything she says but she is aware that many parents of WAY crazier and take this seriously and feel like saints. A bit like Harry Potter’s aunts feeling generous for letting him sleep caged under the stairs. I had to explain it all because I wouldn’t want to sound offensive or extreme and end up in misunderstandings.
    Isn’t it wild?
Whilst I must agree that some celebrities are overhyped (and I would go as far as to say overpaid in some cases) and are probably only temporarily popular/trendy unless they improve themselves and their work, and that other celebrities might be better but are not that popular in the public and are lesser known and paid; I can’t phantom myself physically feel that entitled because THEY were the ones who gave ME a good time, I would actually thank them and tell them that they did a great job/made me happy. All I did was literally watch the series on my couch eating snacks and be lucky I met was at the same place as them at the same time.
(This is valid also for singers and other celebrities).
There is a thing such as mutual respect and gratefulness but those don’t equal to extreme unconditional devotion, that’s manipulating.

Thank you so much for making this video! I wish I could like it one hundred times. I feel like we have a lot of newer, well-intentioned Armys who don't understand this. BigHit specifically asks Armys not to go to airports, not to engage with the members if you see them on vacations, etc. Jin did not want us to know which camp he would be at; that info was leaked against his will, so it doesn't matter what the camp's site posts. Armys should not be seeing it. We are a large and powerful fandom. Yes, the paparazzi are out of our control. But if we set an example, hold ourselves to a higher standard, and stop consuming content that is released without the consent of the members, we really can make a difference, even if it's only small. If we love Bangtan, we have to respect their privacy. It's as simple as that.

is your favorite celebrity working (eg. it's a concert, red carpet event, fan meeting, or other official schedule)? cool! take pictures, say hello, interact with them! the rest of the time? leave them the heck alone!
just imagine what your reaction would be if your boss or a customer or coworker walked up to you in the middle of a family dinner at a restaurant and wanted you to whip out your laptop and fix a problem with an invoice, or hop over behind the bar and start serving coffee... because I don't think any non-celebrity would be ok with that happening to them, nor should they be.
the argument that celebrities want our money so they should put up with the lack of privacy is utterly nonsensical - buying someone's album or watching their movie doesn't magically give you the right to the artist's time and attention outside of official events - all you've done is exchange money for a product - and the artist is not the product.

It makes me uneasy how many fans engage with content like this, and worse: when confronted, they send you to h*ll and happily continue.
But I'm so happy ARMY is one of the fandoms that actively fights and talks about this. Before I became a fan of the boys, I wouldn't really think twice about the content I'm consuming when it comes to celebrities - getting a snap of a celebrity in their everyday life was a victory. But after getting into BTS, many people within this fandom opened my eyes and I'm very careful about what content I share and consume. I've never seen so many people outraged by a picture of a celebrity during their private time before I became an ARMY. Same as not encouraging going to airports, following them around in public, hyping fansite pictures and more.
It really breaks my heart now how many people decide to stay ignorant and not follow the wishes of people who they say they love. And just like you said: yeah, they might be waving or smiling, but can you imagine if they didn't?
I'm gonna continue having these conversations and educating others on what I feel like is the right thing. If they keep going against the boys' wishes, I no longer consider them fans.

There are ARMY out there who would actually want to do right, but might not know better, so stating these facts in no uncertain terms is a service to the cause.
It might make some feel better to legitimate consuming any type of content deemed "informative", but actually invasive, however the only real legitimacy we have as individuals is that of control over our own behaviours.
Above and beyond the issue of legitimacy is that of responsibility. And if we are responsible, we'll make sure to respect these boys who already share a tremendous amount of privacy with us.
So, let's not be greedy, let the information come to us through the members social posts or BH anouncements. We get insane amounts of those daily so that has to be enough...
If we make a conscious effort to not go looking for information but take what's offered by BTS themselves, we can't do wrong.

On the topic of airport pics. When I was a baby army, other armys always said that it's okay to share the news sites pics with their watermark(like dispatch, newsen) because those are the official media outlets instead of fansites with a members name as the watermark. Overtime I realized that these media outlets are just as bad as sasaengs/fansites. I mean they're literally the same thing with different names (fansites specifically being member focused.) They are stalkers too. They invaded the members privacy and act ruthless shoving themselves into the members personal spaces. And even if they act nice, it really doesnt matter because they are doing something wrong anyway. I've seen the boys uncomfortable on multiple occasions. They know exactly when a member will leave and arrive. It's so normalized, it's scary. These are paparazzi and they do not respect or care about the boys at all. I just don't share airport content as a whole. All of them are blocked as well.

It is even forbidden here in our neutral country. It can put the soldiers and their families in danger!! 8:00 this is so true and people need to open their eyes here. Jin is not an idol currently, he is not a singer nor a performer at the moment. He is an active south korean soldier which means he's just like the others in the camp. So why is other's faces blurred and their privacy being respected whilst jin's isn't? The military camp uploaded these pics but that doesn't make it okay for you to go digging to find them like God how do they even know the military sites name and location and they're still saying it's not stalker behavior. It's not like these soldiers have a choice whether or not they'd like the pics to be uploaded. Besides Jin said he doesn't want that and bighit said not to share unofficial content. These so called stans who share his military pics need to get some sense knocked into them because now they're disrespecting Jin's wishes especially fb, tiktok, ig armys and solo stans. Thank you so much for covering this. People love to dogpile on anyone and everyone who talks about this, so i really appreciate you for using your platform and opening up a very needed conversation. I honestly cannot even imagine how the media and general public would react if a member ever declined people from taking photos, especially considering how they talked about Taehyung a few months ago for simply not waving at the pap*razzi at the airport. The thing is, I don't think a lot of people realize that while the media and ''fans'' are st*lking and taking uncons*nsual photos of the members, they're also pushing them to a very messy, twisted situation where they either have to ''suck it up'' in order to avoid everyone painting them as ''rude'' and ''arrogant'', or apologize for protecting, not only their own privacy, but also everybody's safety. I really hope people start seeing the harm it causes and rethinks what they reshare and who they're following and giving a platform to. Thanks again for another great video and thank you for your hard work!

Girl thank you so much for making this video! 💜There's been a lot of divided opinions about this and specially latetly with the publish photos of Seokjin in the military. The best we can do as fans is not support this type of behavior and give attention to things like sasaeng content end fansites content that shows the members during their private lives and not public official events as artists.
Some people may think it's ok to share some content because the guys say hi to the paparazzi's and are not showing their discomfort like other celebrities, but if you have watched their posts on Weverse or any social media and the company's announcements, you already know their wishes. if you are a real fan, you should respect that. The guys have already expressed a lot of times how thankful they are when Armys don't share their location and pretend they don't know them when they found them in the street or anywhere so they can enjoy peacefully whatever they are doing and stay safe.
I have to admit that I have shared photos taken by media organizations like dispatch when they are at the airport to wish them a safe flight. That's something that a lot of Armys have been doing for years and trending "x have a safe flight" every time on twt. And look, I think you right, even if it's already normal for us, it doesn't mean that it's completely right.. I never thought about the airport situation that deep (except when it comes from "fans" and no one even knew they were traveling) so I'm honestly reflecting right now lol
Anyways, what that monk and temple did boiled my blood it's just UGH. I felt really bad for Namjoon. Knowing the fact the guys can't easily and openly trust anyone is just heartbreaking because we all know that just makes more difficult for them to develop real friendships, relationships etc. 😔 I hate how people treat celebrities as objects.. they are humans. The fact they chose this path doesn't mean they have to accept all these harassment and more. It's not ok.

As by as they are, bts set a new standard for Korea that no matter how big you are, you can still serve your country by joining the military. We as the biggest fandom in history, we should also set a new healthy practice that can inspire other fans too.

Excellent video. Thank you so much for this. People seem to be blind to their own selfishness and lose any empathy for their favorite artists when there's something the fans want. They find ways to justify it to themselves because they WANT that content. That's all it comes down to. And it's so sad. BTS has gone above and beyond to form a special bond with their fans, one in which empathy and understanding goes both ways, one where we see each other not "fan and celebrity" but as human beings. Unfortunately, for many fans, this isn't appreciated or respected. They're here for the "fan experience," not to bond w an artist. Shiny pictures and gossip, dating rumors, scandal, and drama, are what they're here for. It makes me so sad, and I know it makes BTS sad too, when their so-called "biggest fans" go completely against their wishes, /just because they can/.

The way being an army can change your vision on many thing , before that paparazzi were not my cup of tea but when I was seeing photo on magazine or social media I was indifferent because it was normalize so much even on twitter there was an account where all the information on celebrity hostel , restaurant where . Looking at this now this is wild and people had no shame sharing that !
And being in this fandom now learning in deep all this you réalise how this so wrong even when it’s not BTS I can’t stand it ! Sometimes I have the impression we are the only fandom who is so strict about privacy & want to give them the opportunity to enjoy a normal life . Because for exemple I am watching a lot BL series and the amount pictures and videos I am seeing on twitter or TikTok is concerning the amount invasion of privacy these actors are victims is wild
Did you also have an eyes opening being army ? Me yes a lot !
I really hope this vidéo will be seen by many !

Dear ARMY friend, once again you nailed it. I totally agree. It's not because it's 'normalized' that's it ok. It's not because they don't yell at paparazzi that they like having cameras shoved in their faces or having a monk, of all people, spilling the beans on a private conversation. They don't like it. They don't want it. They feel oppressed and they have said it, showed it through their photoshoot when they were sitting in boxes with dozens of cameras and mannequin hands reaching towards them. They hate it. So if we love them, we should treat with the same respect and care we treat ourselves and the other people we love: we should not share that kind of content. If they realize the content doesn't sell, it won't happen as much because it's all about the money ofc. But in order to do that we need to have some self-restrain and a lot of us lack in that department. Thank you again for your content. Borahae!

Just think this way "would you love getting stalked by people's whom you don't know, would you love cameras flashing lights right on your face and "fans" walking closer to you while holding their phones right on your face while you're at the airport? Would you love it if someone shares your private picture around??"
That's actually really scary, creepy and sad

THANK YOU for everything you said in this video! Something that's seen as "normal" or normalized doesn't automatically make it right, just like not every lawful thing is morally right. BTS has been as explicit as they can in asking fans to respect their privacy, but like you said they are in an impossible position to reject invasive fans or press. Not only are they aware of the consequences of being rude to those invading their space and privacy, they are also just generally polite and nice people. So Jungkook smiling at fans and press following him around a MV set, and even thanking them in a video later, should be seen through that lense. They have very little choice but to be nice and accepting. It shouldn't be that way.

If I could give a standing ovation for this piece I would. It was beautifully scripted (I understand about the redaction - at first I thought it was my speaker😆). I wish this could be seen on a lot of the media platforms. It's so true. I've felt this way forever. Celebrities are not animals at a zoo. Fans do not OWN them or have a right to their personal space or life. BTS, unlike most celebrities, share an amazing amount of content with ARMY. They share snippets of their lives, what they choose for us to know, and that (in my opinion) may be too much. They're overly generous, to be honest. I think the level of intimacy between artists and their fandoms should be even more restricted. Why? Because human nature has proven that once a person is enabled to do a thing or receive a thing, while they may at first be grateful, shortly after, they begin to expect (as if their right) to do and receive. This is how saesangs are born, and the entitlement of the paparazzi (especially the circus at Korean airports) gets out of hand. Exactly because BTS is SO accommodating it invites those with the worst minds to assume they have rights concerning the members. Rights they don't actually have.
ARMY has to acknowledge these truths, we do NOT own BTS. Nor do we have a right to their personal lives. We don't have a right to their schedule, their photos, their friends, family or anything else they do not choose to share. Yes, they always give honor to ARMY for their awards, and its justified because there is a voting system in place and album sells as well, but that doesn't mean they owe us more than their gratitude and great performance. Ultimately, if we pay for albums, concerts, or other events and we go, have a good time and they perform like crazy then we've gotten our money's worth and should be satisfied. ALL the extra stuff they give us speaks to THEIR generosity, not ours. I think some of us get things twisted and begin to believe the members owe us more. It's their hard work and sacrifice and dedication that brought them where they are and yes our support and purchases support them but never forget, we're still on the receiving end. I can admire them, support them, and love their performance, dedication, and content. But I can't say I personally know them or love them as individuals. I can't love someone I don't truly know. No more than they can truly love me. They don't even know I exist except in the collective called ARMY.
This was a beautifully crafted piece, thank you for creating it. I truly hope it makes people think more about their approach to BTS and other artists.
