Very sinmple and great analysis by brilliant Taiwo. Taiwo is one of the only men working well for this T-pain administration. Am not a fan of T-pain,but we must let this bill fly and get endorsed.
I read about Taiwo Oladele many years ago before this appointment by PBAT. Taiwo is a very brilliant guy. He and his committee should go around Nigeria this January 2025, take questions from Nigerians and answer them, so that all the stakeholders will understand the new Tax Bill. On the surface it appears good, but let it be challenged by all, the bill updated to incorporate the suggestions from Nigerians and afterwards passed.
I must commend mr Taiwo Oyedele, for his clarity on the Tax reform bill, I believe the committee is doing a good Job. However, I will recommend that the other parts of the Tax reform bill be made public for understanding and clarity. This will build trust in the bill as Citizens begin to realize that the Tax Reform bill is for the overall interest of Citizens and not otherwise
Engr. Buba Galadima is being clever by half. He couldn’t name one item that’s against his region. My Northern brothers are just against anything progressive. They just want the bill withdrawn without alternative or clear reason why the bill is injurious to them. I guess, he didn’t read it. I liken this to the Ojota protest in 2012 led by current President. Nigeria lost the opportunity to do the right thing at the time. How time flies? What goes around comes around. The tax bill is good and in the interest of all Nigeria and her people. It must be backed by law.
We need a live forum between the northern Governor's representative and mr Taiwo so Nigerians can understand who is right or wrong. For me i know the North governors are trying to impose their will on the nation.
What an educated contrast to Buba Galadima and his ethnic propaganda reactionary response. We need conversation on these issues and it will allow for an educated and respectful tax system. Not the argument based on North vs South jingoisms✌️
Bubba Galadima is not interested in the details Mr. Oyedele provides, all Buba Galadima wants to do is emphasize what the Northern elders have said. However, he pretended that he was not speaking for sectional interest when he chided Dr. Abati to refrain from using the term Northern elders. Buba Galadima also falsely claimed only Ogun and Lagos states benefitted from the Tax Reform, which Mr. Oyedele corrected with facts. Nigeria can only make progress when the nations within Nigeria are allowed to be separate and govern themselves. Bubba Galadima can pursue whatever suits their interest in the north. No need to fight about it, we need to face reality and do what will transform the individual nation-states.
In fact, this Mr. Ayodale has made me fall in love with Tinubu's appointment. God will continue to bless Nigeria, bless Ayodale, and bless everyone trying to make Nigeria work properly again. I understand that for a nation to strive, certain nations or outcry sensational issues have to be ignored, but we need to make out partways to escape in case of emergencies. If Tinubu's regime can work without too many extravagant expenditures on frivolous government needs, reduce corrupt practices and stop intimidating people or oppositions with the judiciary and security agents, I think we are sound to embrace and become patient with the reforms. Nevertheless, Buhari destroyed this nation with his corrupt system and support for terrorist organisations through his indirect support for some of the Fulani killer groups and soft handling of Islamic extremists who are not loyal to his worship practices.
For the umpteenth time Mr Oyedele has explained this VAT bill, but some people just won’t understand because they have a mindset that refuses change . He has also confirmed the lackadaisical attitude of governors to highly important issues. The priority for most of the governors are social ceremonies rather than urgent matters of state, hence it is understandable why they ignored the reform committee until they found out that the decisions of the committee affected their revenue. Of course, the committee consulted as much as possible and more so than any committee of government that I know about. What’s more the committee is headed by an experienced and highly cerebral person. The complainants certainly can’t accuse the committee of not consulting widely enough, rather the excuse is being used as a camouflage for real and fundamental reasons that will soon be made manifest to everyone at the NASS public hearing.
The problem we have in Nigeria is majorly due to northern Nigeria laziness and entitlement. I'm from northern Nigeria but in the God name what is wrong with this tax reform? Should another state that doesn't what to work continue to hold the one's that are making there state resourceful.?
@@OmoIbadan2: Did you listen properly to the presentation? Have you read the Bill? The present tax collection favors Lagos while new Bill reduces the portion that will go to Lagos. We in Oyo State need to work harder, reform and improve our economy.
This process excluded communities on ground, that is my main concern, no evidence of engaging the citizens (Sovereigns) using their local language.Very articulate explanation in English, However citizens are not carried along in their local language.I will support if the local communities are engaged in their local languages, with clear evidence. It can be done even while the bill is passing through NASS
AriseTV is one of the problems of Nigeria. You will never hear Abati and his crew helping this administration to explain better the policies of the administration. I say it again, all together instead of building Nigeria we are only doing what the Nigeria (North) want. Abati knows the right thing they are all just angry they are not in Power. 😊
And some people will say Ojy Okpe is the best journalist in Nigeria. E get why I talk am here so that we will differentiate between teleprompter and real journalism
Can we summarise this with two slides? - 1. How much are the states currently earning? 2. How much would the state earn after this bill? State these in figures.
The North has taken us backward for so long. This tax reform is the best thing to happened to Nigeria if it eventually passed. Please no going back. I'm not Tinubu fan, I voted Peter Obi but I salute him for this proposed bill. The core North are always against policies that will make Nigeria great again. Too bad
Lagos and Rivers are free to approach the Supreme Court now. They should expunge the VAT part and let Lagos test it in court. If Lagos wins then everybody can do their own VAT law. At the end of the day if Lagos wins, that will be very chaotic for the North as they can not change anything after the supreme court judgement.
The kwarapt state officials see the exemptions which will reduce revenue into the state coffers as a reduction to their "STATE CAKE" share which they used to enjoy. They are not looking at the exemptions as resulting in the reduction in prices of basic essentials that will ultimately alleviate the hardship of the citizens
One Nigeria is waste of lives and time. One Nigeria is deceitful. We cannot continue doing same thing over again and expect different results. Islamic caliphate and sharia law cannot cohabit together with democracy and common law. Solution: Divide the country into regional government and full resource control.
We can't take out the fact that Tinubu is very intelligent. He just came at a time when Nigeria was already crumbling. I wish he came in just after Jonathan Nigeria would have been like Dubai.
If Lagos wins , that is the beginning of economic restructuring. What the Northern Governors do not know is that they can not force Lagos not to approach supreme court. Lagos please win in Supreme Court.
Is it possible to have a town hall meeting mainly with the Northern leaders. Their governors, emirs, sanators, budiness men etc. sending emissaries to them will not work. Call them to an open meeting
My brother they know those things. Every company will provide details of what is consumed by States and the tax will he shared according to what you consumed. It's very simple. But then the north knows that the items that will be taxed are things their people hardly consume. Food is out of taxation, transportation is out of taxation. But things like Cement, pharmaceutical products, ICT, data, etc can you compare the Internet data used by States in the south like Lagos, Rivers, Anambra, Delta, Edo to states like Zamfara, Adamawa etc This is the issue
@ray-df8bq Please, who is to be blamed for that? If something is against your faith, why do you want to benefit from it. 2. It is just a brainless excuses, the tax avenue is for states to think about Chanel of income, which is the ONLY way for any human being, state, country to finance his people, or become a success. If their governor or the entire region is lazy to think out of the zombie box, it is their problem. I remember In the 1st western region Yoruba did NOT have anything as business hub to finance the region. It was ONLY cocoa house in Ibadan that late Awolowo converted to big hub that finances the western region.
The north is trying to play smart, they know in most states in the north, basically there are no consumptions as much as reliable to generate revenue and as a result there will be less or no revenues😅😅😅😅
He will not talk about what the HAUSA says about fulanis and what is going on in Nigerian at present. The journalists are buyers. They are not allowed to speak the truth.

This one of the disadvantages of operating a "Rent Seeking" economy that doesn't encourage regional development through self sustaining economy but sharing revenues based on land mass, population and derivation. Let the truth be told, Nigeria system isn't working and needs "a total overhaul as a matter of urgency. For instance, indigenous people don't operate Presidential system of government. They normally operate Parliamentary and constitutional Monarchy based on common language, culture and heritage. Presidential system of government is normally used where immigrants have migrated, settled and take over major affairs of their settled land. States or provinces are formed with a central government to manage few areas such as defence, immigration, social security and international affairs. States creation foisted on indigenous nationalities in Nigeria is an anomaly. Some States ate are productive and feeding those poor States who aren't productive. Come out of your denials and rework the union. Plain and simple!
My problem with this tax reform bills is that it is not the right time for it because price of goods and services will move up as companies tax is increased. secondly, the IT company to handle it may be linked to alpha-beta, which owned by Tinubu. Thus, i will suggest that the bill should wait till after Tinubu's regime.
Instead of explaining to the leaders that will change their minds later after consultations, why not make a long video explaining this tax bill yourself sir
Let the bill undergo the type of scrutiny the PIB bill faced and underwent. Don’t force poison down our throat ….. let the consultation take as long as it should …. Even if it’s 8 years. Meanwhile you cannot tax a country that has seen more collapse of companies and industries over the past 1 year. It’s like giving bag of rice to a 90 something year old man to carry…. He can barely walk
Mr Taiwo Oyede you know very well that the north is mainly concerned about loosing their share of the tax on alcohol, yet you keep harping on MTN. Alcohol revenue is generated mainly from the South because sharia law prohibits the consumption of alcohol in the North, yet the North collects the giant share from alcohol vat. This is the anomaly Tinubu wants to correct. We should all welcome the tax reform bill, but tell the north the truth and let them handle it. This anomaly trended a few years back online under Buhari and he did nothing about it, hence Tinubu is taking the responsibility

I will disagree with you on that because this national assembly is a rubber stamp one that is why people are saying for the bill to be withdraw because that bill will not take a day to be passed so don't tell us about taken 6months to be passed..
What I don't fancy about the bill, is the Greek gift inserted in the bill. The third party collection is done by Tinubu, so that he can bring in his Alpha beta to collect all the money for himself

This man is a great mind
What an educated contrast to Buba Galadima and his ethnic propaganda reactionary response. We need conversation on these issues and it will allow for an educated and respectful tax system. Not the argument based on North vs South jingoisms✌️
This is mature presentation
I totally agree with you. The North draws us backwards because they have refused to embrace education etc
You also consulted with diaspora I remember.
The two giants!
The problem we have in Nigeria is majorly due to northern Nigeria laziness and entitlement.
I'm from northern Nigeria but in the God name what is wrong with this tax reform? Should another state that doesn't what to work continue to hold the one's that are making there state resourceful.?
You clearly don't understand the tax bill. It only favours Lagos.
@@OmoIbadan2Can you pls explain how it Favours Lagos alone?
@@OmoIbadan2: Did you listen properly to the presentation? Have you read the Bill? The present tax collection favors Lagos while new Bill reduces the portion that will go to Lagos. We in Oyo State need to work harder, reform and improve our economy.
Olodo @@OmoIbadan2
@@OmoIbadan2 ogun kpai u as you dey use Omoibadan to dey come talk rubbish for here
Why d north drawing this country back ward
It’s their way. They have provided the most president and see how the country is!!
1. How much are the states currently earning?
2. How much would the state earn after this bill?
State these in figures.
How much you earn depends on your output-- simple!
How much a state get depends on how much it earns. It is not fixed. This bill is to wake the governors up to work more in order to earn more.
If VAT is a State Revue what is the business of the Federal Government collecting VAT for the States!? VAT is Value Added Tax
The North has taken us backward for so long. This tax reform is the best thing to happened to Nigeria if it eventually passed. Please no going back. I'm not Tinubu fan, I voted Peter Obi but I salute him for this proposed bill. The core North are always against policies that will make Nigeria great again. Too bad
Arise all you needed to do to have a robust debate is to pair the pro and against tax reform bill
Who has noticed Hisbah has stopped destroying beer
Lagos and Rivers are free to approach the Supreme Court now. They should expunge the VAT part and let Lagos test it in court. If Lagos wins then everybody can do their own VAT law.
At the end of the day if Lagos wins, that will be very chaotic for the North as they can not change anything after the supreme court judgement.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
If the northen states wants the bill withdrawn so b it after all lagos state, ogun and rivers will b enjoying others states revenue base consumption
Totally against bill withdrawal!!!!
The bill should not be withdrawn
Buba Galadima and many of the northern politicians are clowns
Galadinma can talk anyhow. and he is been paid by northern representatives to keep spilling that rubbish. yeye dey smell.
The North! The North! The North! If the South was against it, i'm sure Tinubu wouldn't do any consultations.
Did you get it Dr Abati?
ONE OF THE POINT I HARD WAS THAT IF U INCREASE VAT FROM 7% _15% OR EVEN 1% IT WILL BE CATOSTROPHIC ON NIGERIANS.AMONG OTHERS.
Let us imagine if this bill is not passed? Omo Tinubu should just begin the desolution and division of the country shikena!!!
One Nigeria is waste of lives and time.
One Nigeria is deceitful.
We cannot continue doing same thing over again and expect different results.
Islamic caliphate and sharia law cannot cohabit together with democracy and common law.
Solution:
Divide the country into regional government and full resource control.
We can't take out the fact that Tinubu is very intelligent.
He just came at a time when Nigeria was already crumbling.
I wish he came in just after Jonathan
Nigeria would have been like Dubai.
You go explain tire lol. Since people have decided not to directly face problems.
They rejected the appointment
@@HassanTaiwo-r7r My brother no be small thing o. Let's be watching this our united country sha
Let him continue and pass the bill we are on democratic era 2027 is around the corner.
What ll happen in 2027? You ll vote against progressive ideas
Not a van of Tinubu but I know that anything the elites, most especially the northern elites doesn't want or like can only be good for Nigerians.
The problem here is this consider
Tell me if 36 of you are sons of a single father different mothers different house, then the income Of your father is shared such that your mother recieves the highest, remember your father live with you and your mom, his every day to day activities he does in your house, then he claimed that he want to reform how he share his revenue, then he made you the chairman of the reform commity and then you now claim to the other wifes and there sons that you will reduce the share given to your mother and give it back to them, and remember they know that your father favours you and your mother who will agree with you amongs them???????
Please don’t travel around any more to certain places. You need to be heavily protected by the FG.
The North is really bringing Nigeria backward
The north ???? Hmmm
It’s never a right time to take a step
Tax reform bill is here to stay..
Instead of explaining to the leaders that will change their minds later after consultations, why not make a long video explaining this tax bill yourself sir
Leave that provision as it is let the vat go to where the head quarters is based if that is what the north wants
I ask again who did Buhari consult before inviting all Fulani in Africa to Nigeria ?”
No one.
I wonder how you managed to get through school with this befuddled mind.
Only God can help Nigeria .... North will always be north ,, entitlement mentality
This our govt is unvoveful
Special Programme On The TAX REFORM BILLS one Arise TV, Channel TV, AIT TV, NTA, TVC from Sunday Night to Friday Night. These Stations will try and see how they can respectively slot in this because it is a call to national service.
With this, people will definitely comprehend, unless there is a snake in the grass. Honest people will thereafter understand there's none so deaf as those that will not hear.
Why should a state revenue be collected centrally.?
I will disagree with you on that because this national assembly is a rubber stamp one that is why people are saying for the bill to be withdraw because that bill will not take a day to be passed so don't tell us about taken 6months to be passed..
So the Alhaji was correct that nec rejected it
They rejected it because there will not be sharing money in abuja as usual
The Northern are the problem of Nigeria
What I don't fancy about the bill, is the Greek gift inserted in the bill. The third party collection is done by Tinubu, so that he can bring in his Alpha beta to collect all the money for himself
Taiwo Oyedele has spoken very well, but your principal can NEVER be trusted because Nigeria is not Lagos.
