I had Bitter CD #0009 back in the early 1980's while stationed in Germany. Purchased it in Kaiserslautern. Originally bright green but redid it red. Did 250kph once on the autobahn. I had added an Edelbrock aluminum intake, Accel dual point distributor, and Holly double pumper carburetor so it had a little extra. Also did some prep work to it so I could import it to the US but circumstances changed and I had to leave it in Germany. Learned a lot about the car in restoring it; Porsche 914 headlight motors, Opel Manta front parking lights, Fiat 124 rear tale lights, Mercedes 250 rear door window motors, and Mercedes rear window latch handle. I spent a lot of time in wrecking yards looking for parts. Loved the car and hated to leave it. Whenever someone would see the car and I'd tell them a Bitter they would always reply "a what?" ;-)
@@janevaughn4761 Wow that's carzy that you remember the car. It had some pretty serious rust in the rocker panels under the doors and I had the Bitter factory in Schwelm make me new panels before I had it painted. This pic is when I first got it: www.myeasypics.com/is.php?i=1271777&img=bitterbrn225.jpg
I live near Lautern. Theres just the biggest US-Car scene in whole Germany. So many exotic American cars that nobody would see outside that region. The Army facility is still there like it was before and Lautern did not change at all from its design.
I once saw a Bitter CD in London (the 1st and only time) and it was like finding a four-leaf clover or Atlantis. I'd seen pictures of them but didn't know they truly existed.
@@SilentDMotorShow I'll take the chrome bumpers, thank you. Cars stopped being pretty when slim chrome bumpers disappeared (and the engines in front). Good on him for the driving gloves!

I remember seeing a Bitter at car dealerships in Kaiser slautern in the 80s
@@janevaughn4761 Could have been it. It was brown when I bought it and at a small used car lot. www.myeasypics.com/is.php?i=1229525&img=bitter3.jpg
Yes it was brown. And beautiful. I was ready to trade my Jaguar in for it

You love Opel, you love Bitter

Of course I did know it!!! It's a dream of a car!!!
The rear light lenses look like they are same as the Lamborghini Muira SV.
the constructors prename is Erich! not Eric!
One of the most beautiful cars of the 70s, but the original black bumpers would look way better than those chrome mods!
Cube of Cars I love the chrome, but was unaware that it’s a mod. Thanks for the enlightenment.
