    Have nots are the people that have little or nothing...so these leaders turned the power to the people, and then came the shot...

    He's saying X and King gave the power to the people and then they were killed for doing so.

    Rage had me on the front line in the 90's as a teen. I lost some friends because of it. My choice. I had to leave them behind because they didn't care to hear truth. Had a couple call me a n****r lover, and my response was the same both times. "I love everyone who isn't a piece of shit, and I don't love you."

    • @PRSPR
      @PRSPR  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Major respect fam! It's definitely not easy to side with the truth because many are afraid to lose friends as a consequence so thank you!

      @@PRSPR, my great-grandfather was head of the KKK in Illnois, and my grandpa was a racist (both cops, btw), until he met my cousin's daughter who was mixed, and he had an epiphany. Just goes to show, that we can grow beyond baseless hate. I am thankful that my mom made it a point, to make sure I didn't believe the same things that were attempted to be pushed on her; or I could have been just as ignorant as so many are, these days. Her doing that made it easy to hear the message Rage was putting out, and understand/empathize with it. She deserves the respect for not continuing the rhetoric.
      She wasn't the biggest fan of me marching with BLM in Chicago, because she was scared I would get hurt, or in trouble, but told me how proud she was that I did (almost no one wants to see their children hurt or imprisoned). I lost another friend that weekend, too. I went there to visit him specifically, and decided to march while I was there. He thought we could agree to disagree on racism. I can't. 20 year friendship down the tubes. He never displayed anything to hint he felt that way, ever. Only when I asked if he wanted to join me, did I find out. That was the last time we talked. Such is life, I guess.

    You mentioned Fred Hampton so the next RATM song has to be "Down Rodeo" as they reference Fred Hampton in that song.
    Great reaction.

    The guitar riff was in the movie “The Matrix” the original movie. The movie is kind of wake up movie - kinda like the song. He said “heads are flown.” Back in the day when we told somebody “imma fly that head,” it meant imma knock you out. “Power to the have nots” means seizing power from the rich, to give to the poor - “the proletariat.” They were revolutionary leftists that saw the poverty, not just the US but all over the world, and wanted the power to switch up from the powerful (rich, oppressive masters) to the poor.

      Thank you for providing all that information clarifying the lines that I didn't fully understand! I've heard of the movie "The Matrix", I just haven't watched it yet but I definitely need to. I mess with them fighting for the transfer of power from the rich to the poor, that's real af

    Bullet in the Head (live 1993)
    It's their best performance live in camera and good audio as well!

      I 2nd that request . Like most of RATM’s song a lot to chew on and break down the lyrical metaphors.

    The "he" that Zack is implicating in the assassinations of Malcolm and King is the former fascist head of the FBI in the 60s,J Edgar Hoover: "Hoover.He was a body remover!"

    Check out the MLK speech titled “Beyond Vietnam: Time to Break the Silence” for some of his criticism of the Vietnam war and US imperialism. It’s on TH-cam

    • @patrickcraig8022
      @patrickcraig8022 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh and you should also check out these TH-cam channels for more on black nationalism and related stuff:
      The Black Internationalist
      SaintAndrewism
      Black Red Guard
      Professor Flowers
      Intelexual Media

    yeah, He is MLK. Awesome reaction gives me hope for your generation, my son's generation. Subscribed! One thing I noticed is people under a certain age get tripped up on the word "Networks", because the Networks as we knew it back in the day aren't nearly as powerful as they were.. back when there was ABC, CBS and NBS, period. They had enormous power. It's been diluted like hell though with the New Media. Also, look up the story behind Quang Duc (I think thats the spelling...) the Buddhist monk on the cover who set himself on fire to protest the Vietnamese government trying to eradicate Buddhism...

    • @PRSPR
      @PRSPR  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you very much, that really means a lot! I appreciate you clarifying that. Definitely will look up that story, thank you for letting me know because I was wondering about the album cover

    have-nots: those who do not have , the opposite of elites with all the power. By his actions, words and courage MLK was empowering people to stand up for their rights, then came the shot ....

    "He may be a contender for this position should he abandoned his supposed adherence to the white principles of non-violence and embrace black nationalism. ...Through counterintelligence it should be possible to pinpoint potential troublemakers... and neutralize them." [FBI Document COINTELPRO, section referring to research on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

    The haves and have-nots. Those who have it (wealth/power/etc), and those who have not. Robin Hood turned the wealth to the have-nots.
    2 dope RATM reactions gets a sub from me =p a Matrix reaction would have my eternal love =p

    • @PRSPR
      @PRSPR  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for subbing to my channel, that really means a lot! Do you mean the movie Matrix? I haven’t watched it but if I could find a way to react to it without TH-cam blocking it I would, I’ll try to find a way tho
