    Thank you for this beautiful interpretation of an old song, as old like 250 years from Sayat Nova (1712-1795) who was a musical icon in many languages actually. It was your first Armenian song reaction and hopefully many more will follow.

    I am the mandolinist on that video and I put the band together for that recording. Given the age of the song, I chose a baroque line-up and we all felt it worked well. It was a pleasure to work with Hamza. He was very sincere in his approach to the song and our arrangement.

    Sayat Nova was an Armenian minstrel who was writing his songs in Armenian, Georgian and Farsi. He was serving to Georgian king, and the region was under Persian influence at the time. That is was there are many words used.

    This is not "pure" Armenian, it's an old Armenian dialect. This is a Sayat Nova creation, an Armenian poet-musician from the 18th century, who traveled the region and used regional dialect to write his poems, hence the borrowed words. Sayat Nova was well known in Persia as well.

    Hamza Namira is a wonderful singer. This is from a series called "Remix" on Al Araby Television based in London. The program takes songs from the Arab World (not necessary in Arabic but many languages of the Arab World and dialects. I think you did a Kurdish song that he did as well.). In a 30-minute video, he picks an iconic song, tells its stories through musical experts, then decides to remix them and each time he picks various musicians from various backgrounds and interpretes the songs in a new light. So what you saw here is teh last 5 minute of the 30-minutes TV show actually.

    "Santur-ov, kamanch-ov dap-ov nazani" meaning with santur سنطور , with kamancha كمنجة and the third is with the Daf الدف also a percussion instrument. So these are Persian and Arabic names of instruments. The song is from the 18th century so it is almost 250 years old. It is by the Armenian "ashough" or عاشق or singer of love songs (troubadour) called Sayat Nova (1712-1795) who was multilingual and composed songs in Georgian, Azeri, Turkish, Farsi and Armenian in almost 220 songs, original or from local cultures. His song lyrics incorporated many local dialects thus the mixed words that may not be purey Armenian but in an Armenian song. He also uses the word "chunki" in the second line of the song which is Turkish meaning "because". Other words like "darderes" (dard in Armenian, derd in Turkish) Naz is also common to many languages. We have the Arabic feminine name Nazeli for example coming from naz.

      Thank you for sharing bro! Actually most of words that you think are Turkish, basically adopted from Farsi and Kurdi😀
      You know Turkish and if you know Farsi, you will see how Farsi words have traveled to the rest of the world through Turkish language.

    • @onewxrldmusic7303
      @onewxrldmusic7303 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@IJayReaction I am not surprised. Actually Farsi, Kurdish and Armenian are very close languages in the group of Indo-European languages with many borrowing words coming from Farsi to both Armenian and Kurdish. Turkish also took a lot of these loan words later on into its language from Farsi and Arabic. So the origins may be very much blurred.

    The borrowed words were used in the Georgian-Armenian dialect which Nayat Nova spoke in . They are not present in the official Armenian language . As a fluent Armenian speaker I do not understand 80%of this wonderful 200 year old song .

    Hamza Namira was signed to Awakening Records label. This is a very interesting label that primarily releases inspirational religious contemporary Islamic music despite fundamentalists claiming that music instruments are not compatible with Islam and it is haram. There are so many interesting artists that have releases with Awakening Records like the Lebanese Swedish Maher Zain, Egyptian American Raef, the Kuwaiti Humood AlKhudher, the amazing Mesud Kurtis and Sami Yusuf in addition to Hamza Namira. Some of its artists also release parrarel albums but without musical instruments to comply with Islam.
