      @@WillyJuniorI mean it’s an election year and many people are rightly worried about the impact of recent AI advances on our electoral process. So I don’t see why it’s weird at all that they spent like 2 minutes out of 30 discussing politics. I don’t know if you’re a Trump fan but if you are, you may have jumped the gun simply because you heard some west coast-types mention his name (although I can’t blame you if so, given how insanely anti-Trump those people generally are).

    I think the real reason they want to be regulated and talk so cautiously about AI is not just that the smaller competition may not be able to afford alignment. But once models cross a threshold where they become obvious threats to various parts of our lives, OpenAI will be those that warned exactly of that. So at that takeoff moment only those with extremely strict guidelines may be allowed to advance models even further because they always put focus on risk management (superalignment). While the other players that put focus on acceleration may not enjoy this special status

    • @bloopbleepnothinghere
      @bloopbleepnothinghere 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ok, say the US somehow regulates this, what about other countries? What about the military? You think the US isn't going to compete in an AI arms race? You think that bad actors in their basement aren't going to incubate nefarious agents?
      This tech is in everyone's hands now. Model training is less and less expensive as we build on prior art and can iterate with less compute and synthetic data.
      All of this talk about alignment is moot if one person ignores it for their own advantage.
      Nuclear arms race where everyone is armed with a nuke. Who the hell do you negotiate with for a treaty???

    • @JazevoAudiosurf
      @JazevoAudiosurf 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bloopbleepnothinghere that's true and we don't know what else is happening behind the scenes. AI regulation from my perspective is more of a politics thing. in their basement labs they probably already have way more advanced stuff to prepare for a world where China gets to superintelligence. they will want to control the public though because for all we know, someone could come up with a breakthrough any time now

    Sam Altman is a visionary and his motto "caution witout fear" is a guidepost for us all. We are so lucky to have him...like we were lucky to have others who changed the way we evolve...adding 0 to math changed our way to compute....being able to speak and converse with our computer will change the way we think.

      Sam's reckless approach to creating AGI is borderline irrational, his obvious desire to create his version of god, AGI, could easily be described as obsessive.
      Open.ai prioritizing rate of AGI development while diminishing the safety precautions/procedures is unimaginably dangerous.
      This Tech is magnitudes more destructive and unpredictable than Nuclear bombs were.

      @@smkh2890I don't think that's what was implied even though calling it a "trick" was silly. She most definitely competent. I've heard from other (in their own right already accomplished) OpenAI employees of how caught off guard they were when they joined the company at how highly intelligent their colleagues were. So competence and intelligence are given when you talking about an OpenAI employee.
      What was said was that her skin colour and cultural background were a huge bonus at leadership position for a company that's 90% fair skinned. So if the choice is to hire between two people of equal competency of different racial characteristics, it's smarter to hire the Black person.
      Did you see the "we are so back" group staff photo when Altman and Greg were reinstated? Finding a person of colour in that photo was like finding Waldo.
      And the issue is not even with HR, its known that there is a shortage of Black AI researchers in the U.S. because Black people aren't pursuing the field. Lots of organisations are trying to change that, who are trying to encourage participation and inclusion from different races and ethnicity.

    I think the new guidelines are largely pointless, and will only hurt ChatGPT in the long run. People don't want watered down AI that has been indoctrinated with a certain ideology, or forces the user into a certain box. For instance, if I am writing a book, I don't want ChatGPT telling me I'm a bad person because I'm writing a scene about my villain doing something villainous, or even running into the situation where the AI refuses to comply because it violates their sensibilities. It just makes ChatGPT useless, and I'd use a different LLM that isn't so indoctrinated.

    In the labyrinth of contemporary human governance, the decline is not just theoretical but starkly observable, exacerbated by the specific actions and policies of contemporary leaders and the myriad of monumental obstacles we face as a human species. For instance, Joe Biden's presidency, despite its promises of unity and progress, faces criticism for its handling of immigration policies, its role in Israel’s continued slaughter of civilians in Palestine, or its failure to meaningfully impact the lives of American citizens. The administration's approach, often perceived as a balancing act between progressive aspirations and centrist pragmatism, highlights the inherent contradictions and failures within democratic systems.
    Same same but different, Donald Trump's presidency exemplified a different set of flaws in governance. His tenure was marked by controversies like the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Capitol riot of January 6, 2021, reflecting a governance style rooted in divisive rhetoric and often criticized as undermining democratic institutions and norms.
    Globally, the state of democracy is in a precarious balance, as seen in the authoritarian turn in countries like Hungary and Poland, where democratic backsliding is a serious concern. The gradual erosion of democratic principles in these countries illustrates the fragility of democratic systems and the ease with which they can be compromised.
    Current conflicts, such as the Israel-Palestine situation or the Russia/Ukraine proxy war, remain unresolved and volatile, reflecting the limitations of international diplomacy and governance. The repeated cycles of violence and failed peace initiatives underscore the challenges in addressing deep-rooted historical and territorial disputes. They represent a stark failure in international governance and diplomacy, leading to widespread humanitarian crises and geopolitical tensions.
    In this era of profound change, the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) introduces yet another layer of complexity. The potential societal impacts of AI are far-reaching and dual-faceted. On the one hand, AI promises unprecedented advancements in efficiency, problem-solving, and innovation across various sectors. On the other, it poses significant risks, including ethical quandaries, privacy concerns, job displacement, and the amplification of social inequalities. These challenges are compounded by AI's rapid development and integration into the fabric of daily life, making it a transformational force in the modern world.
    The emergence of AI as a dominant force in society underscores the monumental importance of competent and forward-thinking governance. In an era marked by the decline of democratic principles and the rise of authoritarian tendencies, as evidenced by the situations in Hungary, Poland, and beyond, the role of governments in navigating the AI revolution becomes critically paramount. Effective governance in the age of AI requires not only a deep understanding of the technology itself but also a robust ethical framework and a commitment to the public good. The potential for AI to exacerbate existing societal issues, or to create new ones, demands a proactive and informed response from leaders.
    The contrast between the current state of global governance and the ideal required to manage the increasing involvement of A.I. in everyday life is stark. The complexity of AI, coupled with the inherent challenges of human governance, and the threat of growing global conflict begs the question.
    Do we trust that those currently in power are up to the task at hand?
    This transitional period in human society, dominated by the rapid evolution of Artificial Intelligence, represents a critical juncture. AI holds the potential to significantly reshape our future, offering both a promise of progress and the risk of amplifying our greatest challenges. Yet, the pursuit of effective governance means we may as well be grasping a fistful of sand, which slips away no matter how tightly one grips. The ideal of a governance system transcending self-interest and power struggles seems not just unattainable but naively overlooks the grim realities of our geopolitical landscape. At this pivotal juncture, the promise of AI means nothing if we cannot ascertain that it will be used for the good of all people. Yet our institutions and those in power are wholly inept to handle this responsibility. Where do we go from here?

    "Hydrogen batteries" can solve the energy storage problem. Excess electricity from renewable sources is used to separate the hydrogen and oxygen in water using electrolysis. The hydrogen can be stored for months or years (long term energy storage) then burned to generate electricity on demand. It is non-polluting because the exhaust from burning hydrogen is water vapor, which can be condensed and used to repeat the cycle. Infinitely scalable and can be located anywhere. Current systems are 70-80% efficient, but some theories suggest that greater than 90% efficiency is possible.

      @@kodaskycastle I don't want to come off as condescending but it sounds to me you just heard about this idea. The basic idea is correct. Now consider the real world problems. 1. water electrolysis is not very efficient; 2. storing hydrogen is difficult (compare it to storing liquid hydrocarbons). 3. hydrogen burns very hot, you can't use it in gas turbines and in steam turbines you have to be careful not to produce NOx.

    • @kodaskycastle
      @kodaskycastle 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MrFujinko Thank you very much for your detailed response. I admit my comments overlooked some of the technical issues and efficiency losses involved, but I believe the process can become more efficient than the current methods. 1. The efficiency of water electrolysis (currently 70-80%) can be improved with processes connected to the resonant frequency of water molecules. 2. Storage involves large tanks or cryogenic cooling, which is expensive, but the gas can also be stored in abandoned gas wells. The expense of storage is offset by the fact the storage is long term. 3. Hydrogen burns very hot, but Toyota recently developed a combustion engine which runs on hydrogen so I think the temperature issues can be resolved. NOx emissions are generally low but still a problem. It would be necessary to filter them out somehow.
      I suppose "hydrogen batteries" have a long way to go before costs and efficiencies improve to make them more viable, but I think further research is justified because they appear to be the only way to create essentially unlimited long term storage of renewable energy over periods of months or years.

When you go to bed it is the flesh that sleeps, but your spirit never sleeps and that is why you have dreams, unless you have died in peace physically. More so, true love that endures and last is a thing of the heart. When I say 'heart', I mean 'spirit'. But fake love, pretentious love, love with expectations, love for classic reasons, love for material reasons (love because of material needs) and love for selfish reasons those are things of the flesh. In the beginning God said let us make man in our own image, according to our likeness. Take note, God is Spirit and God is Love. As Love He is the source of it. True love looks around to see who is in need of your help, your smile, your possessions, your money, your strength, your quality time. Love forgives and forgets. Love wants for others what it wants for itself. However, true love works in conjunction with other spiritual forces such as patience and faith - in the finished work of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, rather than in what man has done such as science, technology and organizations which won't last forever. To avoid sin and error which leads to the death of your body and your spirit-soul in hell fire (second death), you must make God's Word the standard for your life, not AI. If not, God will let you face AI on your own (with your own strength) and it will cast the truth down to the ground, it will be the cause of so much destruction like never seen before, it will deceive many and take many captive in order to enslave them into worshipping it and abiding in lawlessness. We can only destroy ourselves but with God all things are possible. God knows us better because He is our Creater and He knows our beginning and our end. The prove texts can be found in the book of John 5:31-44, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12, Daniel 2, Daniel 7-9, Revelation 13-15, Matthew 24-25 and Luke 21.
    *HOW TO MAKE GOD'S WORD THE STANDARD FOR YOUR LIFE?*
    You must read your Bible slowly, attentively and repeatedly, having this in mind that Christianity is not a religion but a Love relationship. It is measured by the love you have for God and the love you have for your neighbor. Matthew 5:13 says, "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men." Our spirits can only be purified while in the body (while on earth) but after death anything unpurified (unclean) cannot enter Heaven Gates. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God [Matthew 5:8]. No one in his right mind can risk or even bare to put anything rotten into his body nor put the rotten thing closer to the those which are not rotten. Sin makes the heart unclean but you can ask God to forgive you, to save your soul, to cleanse you of your sin, to purify your heart by the blood of His Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ which He shed here on earth because Isaiah 53:5 says, "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed". Meditation in the Word of God is a visit to God because God is in His Word. We know God through His Word because the Word He speaks represent His heart's desires. Meditation is a thing of the heart, not a thing of the mind. Thinking is lower level while meditation is upper level. You think of your problems, your troubles but inorder to meditate, you must let go of your own will, your own desires, your own ways and let the Word you read prevail over thinking process by thinking of it more and more, until the Word gets into your blood and gains supremacy over you. That is when meditation comes - naturally without forcing yourself, turning the Word over and over in your heart. You can be having a conversation with someone while meditating in your heart - saying 'Thank you, Jesus...' over and over in your heart. But it is hard to meditate when you haven't let go of offence and past hurts. Your pain of the past, leave it for God, don't worry yourself, Jesus is alive, you can face tomorrow, He understands what you are passing through today. Begin to meditate on this prayer day and night (in all that you do), "Lord take more of me and give me more of you. Give me more of your holiness, faithfulness, obedience, self-control, purity, humility, love, goodness, kindness, joy, patience, forgiveness, wisdom, understanding, calmness, perseverance... Make me a channel of shinning light where there is darkness, a channel of pardon where there is injury, a channel of love where there is hatred, a channel of humility where there is pride..." The Word of God becomes a part of us by meditation, not by saying words but spirit prayer (prayer from the heart). Take note, God is Spirit and those who worship Him should do so in spirit and truth (genuinely by living the Word). When the Word becomes a part of you, it will by its very nature influence your conduct and behavior. Your bad habits, you will no longer have the urge to do them. You will think differently, dream differently, act differently and talk differently - if something does not qualify for meditation, it does not qualify for conversation.
    *THE BATTLE BETWEEN LIGHT AND DARKNESS (GOOD AND EVIL)*
    Heaven is God's throne and the dwelling place for God's angels and the saints. Hell was meant for the devil (satan) and the fallen angels. Those who torture the souls in hell are demons (unclean spirits). Man's spirit is a free moral agent. You can either yield yourself to God or to the devil because God has given us discretion. If one thinks he possesses only his own spirit, he is lying to himself and he is already in the dark. God is light while the devil is darkness. Light (Holy Spirit) and darkness (evil spirit) cannot stay together in a man's body. God is Love (Love is light) and where there is no love is hell, just as where there is no light is darkness. The one you yield yourself to, you will get his reward. The reward of righteousness to man's spirit is life (abundant life) and the reward of sin to man's spirit is death. Sin and satan are one and the same. Whatever sin can cause, satan also can cause. Sin is what gives the devil dominion or power over man's spirit. When God's Word becomes a part of you, sin power over you is broken, you become the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus. Where Jesus is, you are and when He went (to the Father), you went. In the book of John 8:42-47, Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.” My prayer is, "May God bless His Word in the midst of your heart." First video i watch that they make good questions and it is a good interview. Sam is not for a talk show. This man is leading one of the companies in the whole world that are changing entire paradigms in weeks, and they are having a lot of issues and impact in a lot of countries. Every little piece of information is so important

    I really love how easy Sam's communication style is, but the spin on the employee reaction to him getting canned in November was interesting. Also, the idea that AGI won't impact the workforce very much seems in direct contrast with things he was saying just 6 months ago.

      He does say "I can't believe I'm saying that because it would have sounded like an ungrammatical sense to me at some point". So the data has definitely changed his mind about this topic.

      "AGI won't impact the workforce" because there is nor will there ever be anything close to AGI. Those buzzwords are used to scam investors. Current AI tools are useful and increase productivity. That's it. Add to that the dumb statement "if everyone has a company with 10 000 free employees". Why would anyone in that case need to use any company at all. Don't rely on these people.

      it was a long con, to create the appearance of OpenAI on the brink of achieving superintelligence in order to make another investment grab
