Nice looking 4106. Cut my teeth and learned to double-clutch in that type during the mid-70's with a charter company that had a couple dozen of them... mostly old Greyhounds. I took leather work gloves with me on trips, just in case the trans jammed between gears and I had to pull over, open up the back and line up the shift arms on top of the transmission case. Wouldn't trade those times for anything... Good thing Scott said it's already spoken for, because I'd be thinking about how to talk my wife into it by now.

Nice unit. 4106 was my favorite sports car bus to drive, back in the ‘70’s.

Ok Ok Ok ~. found this site a couple of weeks ago. Currently finishing a complete redo of an 01' Ranger. Lots of welding on a sketchy frame. Lots of rust, Coroseal, lots of new parts everywhere. I can not believe that I'm watching this. Like a trip to MARS. Wow. Nice calm explanation of needs and mitigation of problems. This will be my third check in. Fixing Busses? What what what? Just nuts. Thanks for sharing all of this. You have very special skills. You have my attention. ~ from New Hampshire.

10K for it? That's a great value especially since it is in better shape and some proper repairs and fixing up will be a fantastic bus. No way I would sell the generator. Better it be there servicing the bus as it already does.

An original Illini Swallow Line bus! They had a route from Indianapolis to Danville,Illinois that came through Speedway, In where I live on Crawfordsville Rd. I have probably seen that very bus! Years ago they had Fixables on the same line.

Sounds pretty healthy, wish it wasn't painted, underneath looks pretty good considering it was probably a northen bus. Price is fantastic, and if were going to buy it, I would step up and have you guys do a few things while you had it there. Love the 4104, I think that's what I'd really like to have, one that was converted already would be a big plus, one with good clean skins, not pristine but nice, back glass still intact would be another plus.😎
I love this channel, I am learning a lot, and I'm an old dog lol.

Quote of the day - "Smells like old bus"
Wiring certainly looks to be in need of a good seeing to, along with a few bits of the headlining etc. but in general the domestic side of the bus looks good.

That’s a pretty nice bus. Minimal rust. Most of the mechanicals are good, body overall is excellent. It appears to run good. The throw out bearing is a concern. The RV conversion has a nice comfortable and usable layout. It should clean up nice with a good scrubbing. The colors are definitely out dated, but the furniture looks to be in more or less usable condition. You could easily do a how lot worse than this bus for the same price.
I myself would definitely do the spring brakes conversion, probably replace the old airbags and sway bar bushings. And do a full suspension inspection and service, full break inspection and service and make sure all the beds gauges and electrics work. And do a full engine, transmission and rear end service, along with a tune up. That would definitely be worth the added expense.

Funny that Tyler should mention putting a 4-53 in that M37. I think the military did repower a handful with aluminum 3-53 Gamma Goat engines in an attempt to develop an Extended Service Life program for those trucks.

1984 Eagle RV conversion for sale tomorrow right next to our farm here in Montana. Most of their toys were barely used, this says unknown miles. Earlier today online it was at $6,700. What's a realistic value? Auction site is Ophus Auction if you want to take a look.

I really enjoy these videos! I'd like to know the year and model of the classic bus I'm watching when I'm watching them on TV. Sometimes the caption has that information when I comment on them on a computer, but I watch my TH-cam videos on a large screen TV. There are only three TH-cam video content providers I know of, Bus Grease Monkey, Motor Coach World and Andrew Steel. These are in very different spaces of the touring bus gamut. Camp Prevost on the family H3-45 and their family trips has been fun to watch as well.

Miles have almost nothing to do with the quality or worthiness of a 4106. In actuality, the more miles (and maintenance) the better.
The way these coaches were built, they are good for millions of miles. Sitting unused is the worst thing from them. The more they run, the better.

Are the 4106s pretty good buses? I've heard that they were the sports car of the GM line. Are there any weak spots I should look for? I have found one not far from me that has been sitting for quite some time, but they did get it running and said he drove it 500 mile round trip about 5 months ago hitting 75 to 80 mph. 8V71 standard shift just like this one, but not near as clean, but no paint on the skins, and all windows, has a cap on the back but was told window still there. Could probably get it for less than 10K, inside is filthy, but he did send videos of it running??? Still want a 4104 though.

    • @joseantoniocastrellonjr2568
      @joseantoniocastrellonjr2568 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Because that makes a huge mess inside the garage where the video of the suspension was shot. It's a hassle to remove the wheels outside.
They're building an engine stream clean pit outside, maybe when it's completed they will start washing the suspension there, without removing the wheels.
