    Love it! The only thing I'd change would be fairly large ATV tires, only because the terrain I'd be running is pretty squishy at times. New sub from Nova Scotia. Ok, maybe Woodland Mills green as well...lol.

      I agree! We used a standard 4 lug hub so you can do that. 4 wheeler or side by side wheels and tires will fit as long as it is the 4 lug. Thanks for your feedback

      Thank you! It was a fun build. I have a huge black cherry log to haul and may have to make a video of that. Thanks again!

    like this one as it allows for bigger diameter logs to transport
    especially if needing post and beams for building

      Yes, especially if you want to keep your logs clean if dirt from dragging them. Power winches would be a better option for the lifting, but I put a power drill on the crank handle now to speed up the process. Thanks for you comments.

    Nice! Looks well built. I like the idea for attaching spindles.
    Looks like its just for moving unloaded but mounting the ball hitch upright would probably be better so weight is on top of ball. Add safety chains?

      Thanks for your comments. Yes, the ball hitch is just for transporting the two pieces empty to the location of the big logs. Once we get to the logs, we separate the arches to hook up to each end of the logs. Our sawmill will cut up to a 27 inch log up to 18 ft long so we designed it to handle a oak log of that size. This design allows you to get large logs to the mill without getting the bark full of dirt and mud. Someday we will have a tractor, but for now we use the log arch and pull it with our side by side. Thanks again.

    If the ground gets soft, you will want wider tires as those 10”res cut in really well under load.

      You are correct! We used a common 4 lug hub for that reason. Fortunately our roads are heavily rocked and we don’t even get mud holes.

    Nice how wide did you make it? What is the longest log you've pulled out of the woods so far?

    • @danielfalls6802
      @danielfalls6802  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We designed it to easily haul a 28 inch diameter log, but you can haul a 30”. We pull 20’ logs because the saw mill will cut 18’. It will just as easy haul a 30’ log. We are very happy with it. Our ground is so rocky that our narrow tire never sink into the ground. Wish I had more time to use it more, but that’s another conversation. Thanks for your questions and watching our video.

      @@danielfalls6802 thank you for the information. I intend on making mine wide enough to straddle my tracks, then set my logs in place.
      I went and bought new tracks and can cut 20 ft logs for longer beams.

      @@reecewatson5311that will be nice. My long term solution will be a tractor, but until then we do what we have to do. Hope to see a video or photos when you complete your arch

    Will it carry a log large enough to saw on a mill?

    • @danielfalls6802
      @danielfalls6802  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes sir! That is what we built it for. My mill can cut up to a 27 inch by 18 ft long log and this hauler will do that. Thank for your question and thank you for watching. If you have anymore questions please feel free to ask.

    Oh no! Such small trunks don't need such elaborate transportation equipment. You can move them with a wheelbarrow or on your shoulders. And what's the point of sawing them? A few roof battens at most. ☺

    • @danielfalls6802
      @danielfalls6802  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know right! That’s all we had on the ground that day. It hauls 27-28 inch logs all day long with no issues. Someday I’ll have time to put up another video. Thanks for commenting

      I built such a device myself a year ago, it was an instruction on You Tube. Everything worked wonderfully and I transported many logs (D 40-45 cm - 4.5 m long) without any problems. Last week, however, I probably meant it too well.
      One log, D 60 cm - 5 m long, was probably one size too big.
      Now I have to repair the log arch with a bent upper beam and replace it with a reinforced one. upper beam. I will also replace and reinforce the pulleys at the same time.
      Greetings from Germany

      @@kallnapp6293 very nice! I can haul D 71 cm - 6 m long. I have a very large cherry that I need to haul that will put this equipment to the test. I would like to see your creation.

    I do ok with just the front and atv

    • @danielfalls6802
      @danielfalls6802  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, the rear just keeps the long logs from clogging up with dirt while dragging, especially when your moving logs a mile plus on distance. For short logs, only the front can be used. Thank for watching and commenting
